As promised, some details about the Senior Pet Health Campaign which we would like to run from Monday 22nd May 2023 until Friday 30th June 2023โ€ฆ
Ageing pets are prone to significant ailments which often go undetected until late in the disease process, when little can be done to manage or cure the disease.
Common illnesses which affect our ageing pets include (but not limited too): dental disease, over and under active thyroid, cataracts, dry eyes, heart disease, high blood sugar, kidney dysfunction, high blood pressure, low or high blood protein, blood cell disorders, lumps and bumps, arthritis, urinary tract infections too name a few โ€ฆ
With a thorough health examination by one of our veterinarians, as well as a comprehensive screening blood test and simple urine test, we can detect many ailments that may be affecting your pet without it being obvious.
By establishing what is happening internally with your pet allows an individual baseline for him or her at the time, so going forward we can monitor progression of health over time.
We would like to offer a โ€œWarrant of Fitnessโ€ package at a saving of 30% ($154 discount) for the next 6 weeks which includes:
- double consultation with one of our experienced vets
- comprehensive screening blood test that includes red and white blood cell parameters; blood sugar and protein levels; liver, kidney and pancreas values; calcium and phosphate concentrations; cholesterol and bilirubin levels and thyroid hormone
- urine dipstick and concentration
These tests will go a long way to detect some common disorders in our ageing pets.
Any further diagnostic tests ( e.g. more detailed blood or urine tests) or procedures (e.g. samples from lumps, lump removals, dental procedures, X-rays, ultrasound etc.) that result from this WOF consultation will be done at a further 15% discount.
If this sounds like something youโ€™d like to do for your four legged furry senior citizen, then please give us a call to make a double appointment.
Please try bring a fresh urine sample from your pet to the consultation. We look forward to seeing you then, Doug and all the team at KCVC ๐Ÿ˜Š

Thank you all for taking the time to vote in the pole and for your comments and feedback, very much appreciated. Details of a senior pet health campaign to follow later this week. All the best, have a great week, Doug and Team at KCVC ๐Ÿ˜Š

12/05/2023

Morning all, Iโ€™ve been thinking a lot about our senior pets and wondering how we can improve their level of care.
Many older pets will have ailments that are not always obvious to see e.g. dental disease, heart disease, arthritis, kidney issues diabetes etc.
Identifying and treating these ailments early on can improve their quality of life and longevity.
I want to run a senior pet health campaign which would see a reduced consult fee and discounts on any tests or procedures recommended.
Please take a moment to vote in the pole to follow, much appreciated, Doug and team at KCVC ๐Ÿ˜Š

Lest we forget โค๏ธ

Dear All,

After 8 months of being open, I have made the very difficult decision to temporarily close our books. This means we cannot register anymore new clients to Kauri Coast Veterinary Centre for the foreseeable future.
As you may or may not be aware, I am mostly on my own 24/7/365 with some help from locums from time to time to ease the load.
I am aware that Sustainable Vets are no longer seeing most of their previous small animal patients - unfortunately I am not in a position to take these clients and pets on.
There is currently a global shortage of vets so it is proving near impossible to find a full time second vet.
I understand that this is frustrating and disappointing for unregistered clients. There are practices in Whangarei that may be able to help.
Please may I ask that you understand and respect this difficult decision. Unfortunately we have copped a lot of abuse from people who are currently unable to register with us. The vet shortage is out of my control and there is only so much I can do. Ultimately if I burn out then there wonโ€™t be a small animal practice for anyone.

We have a list of clients that would like to register with us - once we open our books again, we will contact you.

Once again, I am sorry that I am not able to register everyone at this time but hopefully this will change in the future. Your understanding with this matter is much appreciated.

Best wishes
Doug

After a crazy 48 hours we are happy and relieved to report that we are able to open up again today at 8am. Thoughts and prayers go out to all of you affected by the flooding. Hopefully things can return to normal sooner rather than later.โ€ฆ be safe, be strongโ€ฆKia kaha

13/02/2023

Unfortunately due to the severe weather overnight and the need to evacuate parts of Dargaville as well as the safety of our clients, patients and staff, Kauri Coast Vets will be closed today. If you have an emergency please call 021 060 2051. We will be calling clients to reschedule todays appointments. Please stay safe and calm and hunker down โ€˜til the storm passes. I will provide an update later today about whether or not the clinic will be open tomorrow. Kia kaha

Thoughts going out to all our clients and patients during this terrible cyclone. Hope everyone is managing to stay safe, dry and calm during a difficult time.
We have made the decision to stay open with limited staff to provide essential veterinary care. With intermittent power cuts, this does affect our phone lines. If you cannot get through on the landline (439 -7117) please try us on the mobile 021 060 2051. All the best, stay safe and remember, this too shall pass.
Best wishes, Doug and all the team at Kauri Coast Vets
