I came home from work today and saw Ryan had these photos printed and put them up. I had a sudden spell of ugly crying.

I miss my boy 😟💐

It's been almost exactly seven days since Panko has been gone. I feel his absence every day... I miss the sound of his feet walking around the house, I miss him following me around, I miss the couch cuddles.

Thank you all for your kind words, it makes me happy that you all think of him fondly.

We are waiting for him to be cremated, and I will find a suitable vessel for his ashes.

Panko's condition had worsened incredibly fast over the last couple of days and he was starting to experience significant breathing difficulties. Our original plan of vet appointment this afternoon was brought to a head last night and we had to make the call to contact emergency vets.

After assessment by a vet after midnight we had to make a heartbreaking but ultimately the right decision. There wasn't going to be a cure for his lymphoma, and there wasn't enough we could do to ease his discomfort. He had stopped moving around as much and I was carrying him where he wanted to be. He was starting to lose interest and focus on things around him. His spleen had enlarged significantly in size and his nodes were all swollen.

I'm grateful that we were able to have Panko has long as we did after the Addison's crisis of 2021.

Panko was my baby, and my shadow. He was the best boy. I'm glad he got to spend his last few days at home despite the renovations around us.

My precious boy turned 10 on Thursday 6th July according to the records we got when we adopted him.

We had a relaxing short walk today and Panko was in a good mood.

He's been on prednisone since Tuesday and we will have a follow up with the vet to see how he's doing on the medication.

We received bad news this week that Panko has lymphoma.

We haven't typed it, chemotherapy isn't recommended because he isn't an otherwise healthy dog with his Addison's. He can get stressed easily so it would not be good to put that treatment on him too.

The alternative is Prednisone pills which can slow it down and give him a few months of seemingly good health and spirits but it could snap back in a bad way.

The vet's recommendation is the Prednisone route.

Panko has had to get a large hard lump on his shoulder examined. Some days it causes him pain and he won't move or eat.

He needed to be sedated for the vet to get enough samples for a lab test. He's in good spirits today since I picked him up from the vet yesterday.
