It is Guy Fawkes tonight so please be prepared and look after your dogs

28/10/2024

Edit: have been reminded that next Tuesday is guy fawkes night. We will still train but will hold off doing Link until the following week (12th) incase there’s a lot of fireworks in the neighbourhood 🙂

RallyO tonight:

Don’t forget to bring a plate for our welcome back, welcome to new friends and celebration of recent accomplishments 🙂

We will do some training beforehand - the weather isn’t looking fantastic we are planning activities that can be done inside if needed:Wendy will be doing a demo on different focus/strengthening exercises and Michelle will work using a clicker.

Please bring a clicker if you have one 🙂 All welcome (even if it’s just to have dessert and catch up 😂)

(Next week we’re into November so plan to run Link, weather dependent)

I’ve just been informed it is Tuesday (despite me thinking it was Monday all day today 🤦‍♀️😂) so RallyO training is on tonight!

Beginners with Michelle Williamson?
Advanced - I’m thinking of working on positional changes (both in heel and from a distance), 3-steps backwards and some general heel/focus work 🙂
Let me know if there’s anything else you want to focus on

Who’s going to Hawera? November 16/17, entries close this Thursday, Oct 24th.

There is camping available, otherwise there’s a couple of dog friendly motels in town - these are filling up fast so recommend booking soon!

Feel free to comment below to find travel buddies 🙂

https://dogobedience.dogsnz.org.nz/catalogues/

Catalogue is available for Upper Hutt, awesome to see so many members making the trip 🙂

Please note that entry is via the club entrance off Moehau Grove, not thru Moonshine Park like previous shows. There’s no obedience this time, just rally so it’ll be a nice, relaxed show.

Course walking will be approx 830, I encourage everyone to arrive a bit earlier to give you and your dogs time to settle. There’s great space throughout the park to walk the dogs

We’re back for Term 4!!!

Class starts again tomorrow night, 7pm. All welcome. If you have not yet paid your Term 4 training fees please do so (details are on the club members page)

Remember that our essential skills class will be finishing around 6:45, and to give them plenty of space as they leave, and try to keep the gateway and area in front of the club rooms clear. Grounds will possibly still be wet, wear appropriate footwear 🙂

Michelle will be doing a refresher course with the beginners/novices - bring plenty of treats, and a mat/bed for your dog to practice it’s down on (especially if they’re not a fan of wet grass!)

Advanced: still in the planning stage 😂 Renee will be attempting to convince Mea that call fronts aren’t a sign from the devil 😂 if anyone else’s dogs struggle with them please join in!

If you have anything special you want to work on please ask and we’ll do our best 🙂 - last training night before Upper Hutt 🎉🎉

Not Rally, but still important - as many of will know our club is running our Jumpers Champ show this coming weekend. This is a large event for the club, with over 2200 entries! If anyone is able to come down and help it would be much appreciated, even if it’s just for a couple of hours - any extra assistance means our club members who are also competing can have a little more time when running their own dogs 🙂

Jobs are pretty basic, mostly picking up poles that have dropped, moving buckets (with leads/toys etc) from start to finish, or taking down competitors numbers as they enter the ring. There will be experienced members able to guide you if you’re unsure of what to do.

The show will be running from 8-4:30(ish) both Saturday and Sunday. If you can spare a couple hours just come on down - you can either find me (Brenna) or Michelle and we’ll sort out a job for you 🙂

Also a great opportunity to have a look at some agility (jumpers is agility with just jumps and tunnels). If you have kids interested in dog sports, on Saturday afternoon the JDT (junior dog trainers) classes will be running - this is for handlers under 20years old, and how many kids get started in the sport.

There will also be a coffee cart on site both days, a food truck on Saturday from 10-2 and a few stalls selling dog treats, toys and jackets.

Final reminder to get your entries in (and paid 😂) for Upper Hutt RallyO on the 19-20 October - that’s only 2 weeks away and entries close TOMORROW!!

If you don’t want to worry about accommodation, it’s within range for a day trip, and with 2 shows to enter on Saturday it’s well worth it.

Several Feilding members going down so you won’t be alone. And Gin will be there to remind everyone that you don’t need to know what you’re doing or even remember what all the signs are to have fun in the ring 😂😂😂
