My name is Judy Formby, and in 2008 I decided to breed Maine C**n cats after seeing Maineflame Brian Barau in a cat show. If you want something a little different, then the Maine C**n could well fit the bill. Over the years I imported stock from Norway and Germany and had access to bloodlines from Australia and Brazil. I became very passionate about creating the Boxy muzzle look in New Zealand, th
at I saw in Europe. Part of my development was to bench (show) and number of animals for judging under overseas and local judges, thus giving me valuable feedback on expectations. As I developed, the overseas breeders who took and interest could be offered young cats with judged history. One of my other interests is quilting. I have a Statler/Gemmel computerised quilting machine.

So many can relate to this.... You walk onto a room and see a perfect shot.... "Oh for the phone you left on the table" ..... Creep out quietly to fetch phone /camera.... Creep back into the room to find them lined up at the door all bright and alert, wandering what the hell your up to.

Almost to the end,... What a journey..
A big thank you to Elfin 'Val' who met the challenge with gusto.... Estimating eighty hours collectively ... I think it was more like weeks🤔😂😂😂... she even got hubby Elf 'Evan' hanging balls on the trees.
THEN: Val entered the display in the competition,... That sent me into a tail spinning, just about every Opp shop within an hours radius was on the radar to sauce second hand trees..... Hence over 40 trees joined the display and the name 'the Enchanted Forest' emerged.
Another Elfin joined the team, Elfin 'Barb' became our gate keeper... Was such a great idea.... Barb lives across the street, so knows all the locals which is a great help.... She is a dap-hand in the kitchen and would turn up with maccaroni cheese or cottage pie for the busy Elfin crew.... She's also quite the poet.... I will edit her poem in later....
Thank you to all our followers who liked the competition page.... We didn't get a mention, but not surprised as we didn't really fit in any category.... However I hear that a truckie mentioned on a National Radio talk show, that it is great to see the lights at night on their travels.... A special mention was made to us,... "little surpasses the lights at Halcombe"...

Firstly a big thank you to all our followers 🐆🐈⬛🐅🐈🌹
This beautiful young lady 'Flurmonz Liberty Rose' kept us up all night, then at 7am this morning, the first wee soul arrived.
She looks so pleased with herself, and so she should be.
A big thank you to Val for sitting with her, allowing me time to sort the day and later sharing the night shift.

'Justyn - Blue' was benched along side his brother 'JayLee-Tera' throughout the Show season this year. A well adjusted young man who begs to be picked up and cuddled. He has been desexed with a timely stand down period, as any maturing entire boy should.

Would like to thank Patches and Pointed Club for organizing yet another unique Show.... It is always interesting to experience how some overseas clubs run their shows, well done.... The rosettes and prizes were again top quality. Thanks to Purina and others for their sponsorship.

Flurmonz Yoandri.... Nine months old and weighs 9kg... Loves his meat.... He gets this twice a day and biscuits on tap.... Any guess how heavy he will be at five years at this rate .... 😂😂
At risk of criticism: the Diet is minced beef from 'No More Hassels pet food outlet' (do not use meat sold for human consumption.... It has been gassed to hold the colour.... Not good for your pets)
Meat is wetted down, it is easier for the cat to swallow, I use a home made supplement that I sprinkle over the meat, then a few RC Mother and Baby Cat bickies sprinkled on top.
Yoandri has an equal serving of meat morning and night.... Then a variety of RC biscuit mix in a large bowl that he can graze on at his leasure... 24x7.....
The supplement mix... (And where to buy.)
50% Brewers Yeast....( Binn Inn)
20% Granulated Kelp.... (Cambridge Grains)
10% powdered Calcium (bone grow)???
10% Green Lip Mussel powder..(Cambridge Grains)
20% Probiotic... Provide..... (Animates)
10% DENZ.... (Farmlands)..... Make sure you get the EDIBLE one....
Mix together and sprinkle over all wet food.
The % is only a guide line... NOT totalling 100%
Equate all measures to the brewer's yeast quantity ...
eg: the kelp is 20% of the yeast quantity...
This diet works for me, each to their own, if your tempted to criticize, don't bother.

Yoandri, Yevdokiya, YaNina, Yule-be-Mine and Yaris all ventured into 'Show Business'..... but sibling Yavonne (aka Gigi) decided, that to become an 'Au-pair' for her very new baby brother was to be her job, after all you can never have enough help when a new baby comes home.
When Victor arrived home Gigi was right on the job, couldn't wait to meet him. Now she sleeps on the floor under the crib during the day and when Victor wakes up she's right there to check on him..... Of course Mummy is overseeing the antics and Baby Victor is safely out of reach at night.

I would like to share photos of this young man Flurmonz Yoandri as a 12 week old (3 months) beautiful baby.... To the 8.2kg, nine month old youngster, just merging into the 'Junior Cat' section of the NZCF Show Arena....
He currently holds the top position on the leader board as NZ's best long hair kitten...
I absolutely love Maine C**n Cats that have 'with white' in their coat colour.... Yoandri will step into his father's shoes.....

'Flurmonz Crahhull' (a Tundra son) has always been just that... He jumps into my arms from a shelf or off the floor... Anything for a huggle.... If I'm on my knees washing the floor, he's on my back... Today I decided to get a video....

Despite Mum (Flurmonz Valora) and Dad (Flurmonz Tyton) having a small amount of White in their coats..... Produced this litter of beautiful 'high whites' (as I call them) and some are even sporting merling (dark patches through out the colored part in their coats) ... Randomly selected the letter 'L' for their names .... Any suggestions welcome... Desexed and 17week vaccination done this week. How about Fairy and /or pixie names..... They look so cute...

Requirements to adopt a Flurmonz Maine C**n.
Are you prepared to ensure the following:
INSURANCE;
Kitten comes with a 42 day free insurance cover (within that time is a 7 day, stand down period) … you are advised to continue the insurance cover.
DIET;
Maine C***s grow for up to 5 years … my kittens come with a diet plan ...you need to commit to feeding to the plan.
3. SECURITY;
Unlike most cats the Maine C***s travel kilometers from home. Because
of the number of casualties reported
in the past. I need you to consider the security of your cat ….. in door cat, (can be a constant worry, doors opening, accidentally left open, open windows) ...exercise under supervision and teach them to lead on a harness( that can become a chore)…. or preferably a purpose built catio to ensure safety and security for your pet at all times. And totally, so much less stress for you.
If you are agreeable to the above conditions, I am happy to discuss the availability of current kittens / Retiring Cats etc with you.

For those who think a breeder just 'breeds and feeds' ... Here is a little poem about Jantana's Birth... November 2020... that might shed a light on how it really is.
JANTANA'S BIRTH.
Jantana chose Wednesday morn,
to have her babies through to dawn.
Though she was late for her recorded date,
12.30 am the first was born.
45 minutes went by for the next to arrive,
and so the timing was set.
Calcium and glucose and comforting hand,
All Momma's needs were met.
Then this tiny wee soul like no other,
slipped out along with a brother.
The will to survive, all spirit and fight,
a meager 77gr, half the size of the others.
The last to arrive, more dead than alive,
twelve hours of struggle and care, she really wasn't there.
Tucked up on a hotty for comfort in passing,
was left for the night unattended.
Morning arrived and to my surprise,
when I lifted the covers off her,
To leave was not her intention,
definitely Devine intervention.
Although she was weak she tucked into a feed,
Incredible to watch her recover.
And later that day was returned to the Frey,
not noticed at all by her mother.
Mother was poorly, with oedima and infection,
so off to the vet for inspection.
Drugs were prescribed for morning and night,
now to deal with her lack of appetite.
A plan was derived to help babies survive,
with a surrogate not in view.
Split the numbers in two,
and I share feed half the crew.
So three hourly shifts, seven times in the day,
a supplement bottle for all on interchange.
Then six hours of night to mother's delight,
She tucked up with the whole crew.
Three days along and all going strong,
Mother's health is a lot better.
Weight gains are variable,
though some disturbingly minimal.
Mum still not up to the nine little savages,
so I will continue to stem the ravagings.
Hopefully in time we'll find the fine line,
where everyone retains some normality.
Milk flow spray and appetizers at play,
to try and increase her production.
300mls each day is what I contribute,
with roster I feel we get an even distribute.
It is comforting to see, that after a feed,
their little bodies entwined with contentment.
Hush, not a sound, sleep is abound.
All hell will break loose in three hours time,
And again we start the rotation.

My aim is to ensure the kittens get the best chance in life. Health checks are done on all breeding cats.
Security, Diet and Insurance beyond the free 42 day free cover, supplied on sale, are priorities for me when choosing their homes.
Vaccinations go without saying, but I feel the seventeen week vacation (the 3rd and final one) is the most important, because this vaccination gives the long standing support (12 months).... Desexing at 4 months (17weeks) at the time of their last vacc, I feel is easier on a kitten as well, especially the girls.
Happy to give advice and share horror stories.
I support my people for the life of the cat and beyond...
My passion lies in the development and improvement of the boxy muzzle, health and size... We are a work in process....

HOW MUCH??
POTENTIAL OWNER: How much is the kitten?
BREEDER: $2,500.00 -$5000.00
POTENTIAL OWNER: What?? It's way too expensive!!
BREEDER: What do you think would be a reasonable price?
POTENTIAL OWNER: No more than $800. You breeders are so overpriced.
BREEDER: I am sorry you see it this way; why don't you try it yourself?
POTENTIAL OWNER: But I've never done it!
BREEDER: For FREE, I can teach you how to do it, and you will also have the knowledge to do it again.
POTENTIAL OWNER: Perfect, thank you!
BREEDER: To start, you will need a female(average minimal cost $5000 and up). Also, a male(average minimal cost $5000 and up). You will need to show them to their championship to show they meet the breed standard (Minimal $300 each with travel & fees). You will need to do genetic & health testing on them, which averages about $550+ per cat. Raise and provide daily care, feeding & grooming for 1.5 years. (So a minimal $150 per month)
POTENTIAL OWNER: But I don't have that much money...
BREEDER: For $800, you can raise a litter for me and then keep one of the kittens. Obviously, you also have to pay the cost of kittening & care.
POTENTIAL OWNER: I can do that.
BREEDER: OK, so I have a female due to kitten in 2 weeks. You will need to be available 24/7 around the clock for at least 14 weeks to help with delivery and care. Possibly tube or bottle-feed kittens every 2-3 hours if the mom is low on milk the first couple weeks.
POTENTIAL OWNER: Fourteen weeks?? It's way too much time for me! I have to work.
BREEDER: You will also need the reproductive vet to do X-rays ($200-500), possibly progesterone testing($75-250) & a C-section($1000-3000), and initial vet care on the kitten until old enough to be placed. Kitten vets exams, desexing and two sets of vaccines ($300 and up, depending on how many kittens are in the litter)
Have on hand a scale, thermometer, latex gloves, sanitizer, absorbent tissues, scissors, heating pad, kittening crate, blankets, cleaning supplies, appropriate food with supplements for mothers, formula, medications & hand feeding supplies in case of emergency...
POTENTIAL OWNER: But I don't have all these things!
BREEDER: For $1000 you can buy them.
POTENTIAL OWNER: Ummm .... You know, I think it might be better if I just buy a kitten.
BREEDER: Wise decision.
For us breeders there are hardly any vacations or holidays; while you go to visit with family & friends, we are home at our cats' side caring for them. When we go out for the day we are straight back to home to feed an care for all our animals. It is a no breaks commitment.
THIS IS THE REALITY
When you choose a professional, you don't only pay for the kitten but also: Tools, knowledge, experience, love, time, sacrifices, etc........................................

💫It looks like Christmas💫 All be it a security camera view of the yard all decorated up with reindeer and Christmas trees... With a few raindrops... Traveling a little fast for snow flakes.... But with a little imagination it looks like we have snow. Merry Christmas everyone...
