🐶🚨 Parvo Alert - Cases across Napier & Hastings!🚨🐶

Canine parvovirus, commonly called ‘Parvo’, is a highly infectious and often lethal disease that affects puppies and dogs. It effects their stomach and small intestine and symptoms can include; vomiting, diarrhoea (often with traces of blood), a lack of appetite, dehydration and rapid condition loss.

Parvo is extremely contagious and can survive in places like parks for YEARS.

We have been seeing an increased number of parvovirus cases in both our Hastings and Napier clinics. Please make sure your pet’s vaccinations are up to date! 🐾💉

If you have a puppy, it’s recommended to avoid public spaces and dog parks until they've completed their vaccination series (usually by around 16 weeks with the 3rd or 4th shot).

Our after-hours service operates Monday to Friday from 6 PM until 8 AM the following morning. We also offer 24-hour emergency care over the weekends and public holidays!

On Friday evening, Tukituki MP Catherine Wedd and Heretaunga Hastings Mayor Sandra Hazlehurst officially opened the highly anticipated Hawke’s Bay Urgent Care & After Hours Veterinary Clinic. The opening event was buzzing with excitement, as Vet Services HB board members, local councillors, vets, the SPCA, Farmers Vet Club members, and industry professionals all came together to celebrate this incredible milestone. ✨

This facility is the first of its kind in Hawke’s Bay, offering comprehensive emergency and urgent care services for animals. The clinic has undergone a complete transformation, now featuring three consultation rooms, a dedicated prep room, an intensive care unit, and advanced facilities for surgery, ultrasound, radiology, and a full-service laboratory.
