Graduation post - Matai Super Nova

Young Harry is a striking crossbred gelding by Chrialka Zibu x Super Imposing, bred by our amazing local horse vet Carin at Matai Warmbloods

Harry has been with us for starting and has proven to be a clever and willing lad, with a bit of a spunky personality. He is nearing the end of his stay with us, and is looking for his next adventure.

If you're interested in finding out more about Harry get in touch with Carin directly to chat about meeting him while he's still with us. Harry would be a fabulous and attainable project or young horse for a capable rider.

Indie is an absolute angel ready to steal your heart. She has been with us for the past 12 months developing her under saddle; she is going super sweetly and would love to find her forever friend.

Indie has proven to be a breeze to work with, easy to train and handle. Very kind and level headed, with lots of hacking out experience and developing skills in the area too.

She’s a straightforward and uncomplicated ride, and we would like to see her go to a home where she can continue to develop and gain experience. Definitely a sweet kids pony in the making. Alternatively, she is very well bred for endurance with highly sought after imported bloodlines.

🐎🤩🧑‍🎓 Graduation post - Diego 🐎🤩🧑‍🎓

Clearly I’m having waaay to much fun with this one! Might be time to hang up the dressage boots and get myself a polo stick?? 😝

Diego has been purpose bred for polo by his owners, Brett and Sarah, and was actually booked in with us for starting the day that he was born, some three years ago… So it’s a bit unreal to see him heading home with his graduation cap on!🧑‍🎓

I love that we get to work with such a broad range of horses and disciplines. Everything from dressage ponies, to big heavy horses, happy hackers and spicy warmbloods… but I think young Diego is the first purposebred polo horse we’ve started, so I’m super grateful for Brett and Sarah for entrusting us with him 😌 I think Diego and Brett are set to have a lot of fun together!!

After a massive 12 months, we managed to steal a few weeks away visiting Ryan's family and Murray's lil sister, as well as attending two friends weddings, on the other side of the globe.

It's been wonderful to catch some sunshine and escape the mud for a bit, but with a stopover in Thailand on the way home we made sure to find some friends to wallow with!

Loving being back in the mud and rain with you all, and excited for the next group of horses arriving this weekend! 🥰 Thanks for your patience while we've been offline

Graduation post - Poppy 🌺🤩

We’ve loved having the opportunity to start Miss Poppy for her humans, Debbie and Kendall. Poppy is by Euro Sport Diamant B, out of V.Anubertha 8 and is a show jumping superstar in the making.

As a big strong warmblood mare, we thought Poppy might be a bit of a a handful when we first met her, but she’s shaped up to be a real sweetheart and we have no doubt she and Kendall with be a dream team together!

Graduation post - TomTom 🤩🦄🥰

It's been a special pleasure to start young TomTom for his owner, Hannah. TomTom was bred by us here in Hikumutu, and is by our lovely old stallion Clifford (Hikumutu Valley Horses - Saint Clifford Bay). We thought we had lost touch with TomTom after he left us as a weanling, so we were thrilled when Hannah got in contact to say that she was now his owner and wanted us to start him!

TomTom is a real sweetheart - soft and gentle, with lots of try, a genuine nature, a some impressive footwork. We have loved having the chance to see him again and smooth his transition into ridden life. Im sure he and Hannah will have many great adventures to come, and we are really looking forward to seeing the two out competing in the future!!

🤩🥰🦄 Lovely 'Liv' is an impressive big 7yo warmblood mare currently with us for starting, before she embarks on the next chapter with a new human.

A real dressage diva by birth, Liv is by Lingh II out of Caithness Vienetta (Maestro), owned by Angela Stech. Angela has given Liv plenty of time to grow and mature before sending her for starting, and she has taken everything in her stride.

Liv has been uncomplicated to work with, easily making the adjustment to ridden life, and is ready to get going. We hope to see her out and about with her next rider soon!

It’s been a busy few weeks, getting everything set up and ready for our first group of horses to arrive at the beginning of February. Between putting in posts and building new yards, we haven’t had much time in the saddle, and I’ve been itching to get on the horses again! Loved the chance to steal a ride with my main girl Boots this afternoon before the storms roll in 🥹🥰

Graduation post - Hanna Eleadora 🤩🥳🐎 It's been a pleasure to have Hanna Eleadore (Dora) with us for finishing. Dora was bred just over our back fence at Hanna PRE Stud, and now belongs to Simone at Five Hawks Stud. True to the breed, Dora proved to be intelligent and sensible. - taking everything in her stride, and even completing a small dressage day at Saint Peters School before graduation. Dora will now be put in foal, and we cant wait to see what she produces!

I know we're all struggling in this rain and mud, but it does make offroading a little more interesting... Check out how confidently our recent graduate, Marley (with just a few weeks under saddle), navigates this this slip 'n slide.

How do we know that we have our hard feed spot on … listen to the horses when we bring the feeds out? The beautiful Miss Boots loves her feed and especially her Harvest Grains breakfast. This video is purely for the sound so turn your volume on and listen to her excitement. Thanks Donna and the team at Harvest Grains for helping us to keep our horses in beautiful, healthy condition and bringing them so much joy.

Jericho had his first clipping experience today. He's not always been the quietest or bravest young horse, so I wasn't sure how it would go.... I'd say he did alright! :) It's really nice to have this sensitive boy's trust!
