Today was one of those walks that reminded me why I love what I do.
It was way too hot for a forest track, so I packed up Indiana and Kane — our two big Rottie goofballs — and took them to the Ashley River / Rakahuri for a proper swim.

They loved it… the splashing, the zoomies, the rolling in the sand. Honestly, seeing them so happy made the extra drive completely worth it.

Sometimes people think dog walkers just stroll around with a leash. But days like this show how much thought actually goes into it — choosing safe spots, considering heat, knowing which dogs need a swim instead of a walk, and giving them experiences that truly enrich their day.

And seeing their faces when they hit the water?
That’s the best part of my job. 💛🐾

Early mission with Indiana and Kane this morning at Ōtukaokino Track, Christchurch — before Canterbury decided to “turn up the heat.” ☀️🔥

And by heat I mean… 22–26°C.
Which, for Kiwis = “OMG it’s boiling!”
For Brazilians like me = winter cardigan weather. 🧣🤣

To dodge the warmest part of the day, we hit the forest bright and early 🌲🐾 — and of course I chose a spot with the boys’ favourite feature: a perfect swim hole! 💧 These two Rottweiler water-bulldozers don’t just walk… they splash, zoom, roll, and repeat.

Nothing like a cool dip and a forest adventure to start the day right. 💛🐶💛

As promised… here’s more from our celebration for the birthday boy himself, Cosmo! 🥳💙

His actual birthday was on Monday, but today Uncle Alex arrived with one of his world-famous waffle cakes — and of course, we had to throw a proper pawty! 🧇🐾

Surrounded by tennis balls (Cosmo’s lifelong obsession 😂🎾), we gave him the ultimate birthday dilemma:
👉 Waffle cake or tennis balls?
Honestly… even we couldn’t guess which one he’d choose first! 🙈💛
Tough choice for a guy who wants ALL the tennis balls in the world.

Anna & Blair: the Story of how Rocky & Co. came to be.

We began dog sitting in 2014 when we lived in Redwood, Christchurch. Our idea was to offer a pet-sitting service with a “family experience”, as in the dogs that we looked after would stay with us inside the house (no cages or kennels) and would go on daily walks with me.

First, it was called Anna & Rocky Pet Care because we only had Rocky then. As the number of furry clients grew, it became a dream for both Blair and I to have a larger property where we could look after more dogs. In 2015, we purchased our current property in Clarkville, Kaiapoi. We also adopted Wookie in the end of 2015 and Jack in January 2017. Therefore, the name of the business had to change to something that would include all our dogs and their new friends. Rocky & Co. Pet Care was born!

We now have a large grassed area for the dogs to play and run around during the day.

And at night time, the dogs sleep inside the house in our lounge on any of our several dog beds and couches.
