On the first night of lockdown, permanent sanctuary cat little Moe went outside to do a little dig in the garden. Moe never came back. Moe is a real home body, and only ever ducks out to do his business, before shooting back inside for more lap naps, and cuddles. Moe's absence was noticed within 30minutes. We thoroughly searched the house, and went out with torches. The family didnt sleep that night. The next morning we went under the house, into the ceiling, on the roof, in the barn, we walked streets, distributed 'missing' flyers, canvassed social media and the internet. Moe has never been found or sighted since. We are appealing to the public to help us find him. Moe is a friendly young cat approximately 5mths old small build, black and white, with a lopsided moustache marking. Please if you here of anyone who suddenly acquired a kitten fitting his discription during lock down for company, let us know. Please share and help us bring Moe home 🙏

It is with a heavy heart I announce the closure of Tom and Ollie's cat sanctuary.
This heartbreaking decision has been made due to lack of funds, lack of people wanting to adopt, adoptions repeatedly lined up and cancelled, not enough foster homes, and the founders moving into full time work and further commitments.
We thank those of you who have supported us through our efforts to rescue the many cats in need, those that adopted through us, shared our page and cheered us on. Our foster homes Marlies, and Donna, my partner in this chaos Robyn, and our mentor Bee from Rodneys Rescues. I can not thankyou all enough!
I may return to it later down the track once the kids have grown and unable to get attached, and I have a better plan in place to support the sanctuary. But for now the sanctuary will be closed to the public, and the cats in care will be formally adopted by us and able to live out their lives in a family enviroment with lots of love, and care.

We have made have made the hard call to not take in anymore kits at present. A lot of our foster homes have big changes in their lives with jobs and illness. And I'm at my kit limit myself. So current focus is on existing kits and finding their forever homes. If you are looking for a new furever friend, have a look through below. Please remember kits are not released to their homes till they are des*xed, chipped and vaxxed with a fresh deworm and deflea on board. We charge $120 adoption fee, which only just covers their basic vetting, you are welcome to pay fees off prior to adoption day.

It's the quick and the dead around here at dinner time. Apparently I am not the quick. New kit on the block Moe swooped in out of nowhere and stole my corn cobb. Believe me they are not starved, this chap just has terrible manners😆 p.s while I was trying to get this one off him, his sister, Sassy, stole the other one 🤣

New arrivals! Meet Moe and Sass. Moe is a little boy with a sideways white moustache, and Sass is a little girl. They are estimated around 9weeks old. Very social, friendly and playful. They are each seeking a food sponsor while in care. Food sponsorship is generally a one off donation of $30 per kit, but if you wish to donate more we wont say no 🤗

'he's doing very well. The last few weeks have really brought out his playful side and no one and nothing is safe from him. Not even our senior cat who isn't nearly as interested in him as he is in her (he's not getting the hint that hissing means stay away 🤣)
He has developed into a (kinda) confident young boy and he's not remotely as skittish as what he used to be.
Today was the first time he had the patience to actually lie down on me, normally he's too busy chasing things 🤦‍♀️.
So long story short, I retract my earlier statement about not getting along with other cats, I actually think he's looking for a playmate 😆. We can also cross loud noise off the list, as long as he's settled down he's not minding them now. I probably still wouldn't let him out tho, just to bear on the safe side. He's developed a strange obsession with playing with water. Anything that holds the stuff he has to put his paws in, water bowl, dishes in the sink, soaking paint roller, water can and lately the toilet. Certainly never gets boring with him around 😏Dog are still a no go though.'
Thanks Marlies he sounds like a real character, great to hear hes come out of his shell!

'Very sadly looking for a new home for my lovely grey tabby cat Max.

He’s a total smooch, loves cuddles, fish and mousing. He’s des*xed, vaccinated and microchipped. He’s 18 months old. He lives with an elderly dog who hopefully has a lovely home sorted.

I’m renting my house out and moving to an apartment in Welly so cannot keep him. He is the nicest cat I’ve ever had. Not sure how he is with other cats.'

I have officially received the word from Lance. Haven (pic 1) is now officially a foster fail 😂 his foster dad has decided Haven is already home. We all love a happy ever after. However his brother is still available (Salem) as well as twins Milly and Molly, and our tabby fraidy kit, Sammy (last photo) is currently on hold 🤗

Our wide eyed newest fraidy cat has made it out of quarantine. Hes trying to explore. Our giant dog is trying to introduce herself, and is super excited to meet a new baby, and kitty cant quite figure out what to do with her. Sanctuary resident Haven has taken Kitty under his wing, and keeping the big scary at bay while Kitty susses the dog out.

Found!!!!!!!
Porsche has been missing for 4 months, and was featured on Tom and Ollie's in December as lost. Today she was reunited with her owner Helen who never gave up hope, or stopped looking! We are so excited for you Helen, enjoy having her home, give her a hug from me and the team xx

We are officially taking expressions of interest in Salem. Isn't he handsome! Salem requires a very special home. He was rescued at an estimated 10-12 weeks old in a rural setting by our amazing trapper Ange. We don't know his survival story, but he is traumatized. He wasn't feral but he was terrified. He had a few abrasions, leaving us wondering if he was abused prior to being dumped. He's had a hard road learning to trust his carers. He is now an estimated 16-18 weeks old.
His carers says 'He's super super smootchie, loves cuddles and play time but can't for the life of him sit still. And he's scared of everything, rain, people, the washing machine, movement, strangers, dogs, is intrigued by the chickens and the cat in the yard and loves playing with his water. He will not be able to go outside, as if spooked, he would bolt and be potentially lost'
Salem is seeking a person, or a couple willing to let him be himself, in an indoor environment. He makes a great buddy, but not a lap cat. He cannot be placed in an environment with dogs, or children, or a noisy place. Salem does not tolerate being picked up , but will gladly accept all the pats on offer. Do you think you can offer Salem his perfect forever after? He's worked so hard to get this far, and truly deserves a fantastic home.

Very underweight and timid, with big haunted eyes that show his rough start. But once he lets his guard down, he has the most amazing purr rumble. Hes going to be in care a while to re-find his confidence. He is estimated to be around 12 weeks old. He is on day 4 of his 14 day quarantine, eating and drinking well.

Sammy's carer Donna, made an interesting discovery yesterday. Shes 99% certain little Sammy is deaf. This maybe why Sammy was dumped rurally, or how he got lost. Sammy will, once confirmed by the vets, require a special home with people who understand his disability.

Bad news sorry team. Tonight at 11.15pm little Leo was rushed to the emergency team at Massey. He went from having his night time nap, to suddenly lying with eyes open struggling to breathe, and unable to move. The team at massey immediately got him on oxygen and started to try and stabilise him. Despite their best efforts, his heart began failing at 12.45, it was decided it was kinder to help him into his final rest. My husband and I were with him through it all, while Leo the little brave leopard took his last breath.
We have returned home with him to lay him to rest in the morning. The dog is absolutely beside herself, and the whole family has had a tearful night bidding him goodbye. I send my heartfelt thanks to the massey vets team, for their empathy kindness, flowers, paw print cards and joining us in our tears. Thankyou so much for trying.
Unfortunately it's hard for vets to pin point what's wrong, or why it went wrong when they are so tiny and crash so fast. This is the other side to rescue, the side of heartbreak.
Safe travels over the rainbow bridge little guy, till we met again, it has been a privilege to know you, and love you xx

Meet Sammy. Sammy is another new kit on the block. Found living rough in a rural wood shed, he was grateful to be rescued by our kitten rescuer Ange. He is estimated to be around 9 weeks old. Sammy had been in survival mode for so long, after having a good feed and drink, he slept for nearly 2 days, and on the odd occasion he was awake, was very lethargic. His foster mom, Donna, began to worry he had kitten fade ( where they relax once safe after being in survival mode, and their bodies shut down) but much to her relief hes pulled through, with her help, and is back to doing what kittens do. Sammy is so grateful to be rescued, has a beaut rumbling purr, and is always cuddled up to a member of the household. Sammy is seeking a food sponsor to help us help him. This is generally a $30 donation, but anything extra helps. Let us know if you would like to sponsor Sammy.

7 day hold is up, this little guy is officially in the care of Tom and Ollie's. Meet Leo. Leo is 5 weeks old, and was rescued by concerned members of the public from a drain on a busy main road. Leo (Leo the leopard) thinks hes 6 foot tall and bulletproof. Hes not afraid of dogs or cats, and has decided our Rotti cross, is now his mum 😆 Leo is seeking a food sponsor to help keep his belly full while in care. Milly and Molly are available for adoption, they will be ready to go to their new homes next Sunday, once recovered from des*xing. Milly is independent, loves the outdoors, and likes to cuddle up will you at night. Molly (black spot on nose) is sweet and attention seeking. Both good with gentle children over 6, non boisterous dogs, and adapt to other cats within a week. Current age 25 wks, originally from a litter of 4, to an abandoned mum ( since rehomed) no health issues to date. Seeking their forever homes now, PM to meet them 😊 adoption fee applies.

Update on Datsun, she was described as the easiest and low key of the litter.

Datsun has really come out of her shell, so much so that she tries to steal Harley's food off her. In fact, Datsun has become a bit of a bully where food is concerned and supervision is required at meal times to ensure she eats from only her bowl.

Datsun loves snuggling under the bed covers and purr, it's more like a rumble than a purr. Datsun is so full of love and confidence, she does allow Harley to take the lead on new adventures and figures if Harley can do it, so can I.

Harley & Datsun complement each other nicely together and co-exist wonderfully

Found: kitten has been handed into our cat sanctuary. This maybe one of the wild litters in the shannon area, however We will hold for seven days just incase. If you are missing a kitten please PM me description, s*x and age as proof of ownership. If unclaimed it will become a sanctuary kitten, and be des*xed, chipped, and vaccinated before heading off to an approved forever home via our adoption process.
