We have lost one of the sweetest souls here at Kowhai Equine NZ, Ace came to us in March this year as a rescue horse who was severely underweight, had an injury to his head aswell as cancer of the eye. we spent thousands of dollars to get him to a good weight to have surgery on his head for the injury and to remove the eye and cancer. he then spent 4 happy months running with his paddockmates in a big grassy paddock. In November i noticed he had developed asort of tick where he would occasionally twitch his head sideways, i didnt think much of it as they were all pinging on the spring grass, he continued happily grazing with his mates over the month until recently he started having seizures, he would throw himself to the ground and have a fit then get back up and stumble off. He absolutely destroyed the side of his face where he had his eye removed, so unfortunately, to set him free from this burden, we had to let him go. his cancer had returned, and there was a tumor that was triggering the seziures. i wish i had listened to him when I noticed the ticks earlier on, i could have spared him of the pain he has gone through over the last 2 weeks.
Rest In Peace Ace, I tried so hard and I wish I could have done more.thank youu so much to everyone who sent love and donations to help me get you back to health. Gwynn absolutely loves you he is going to miss your cuddles, but I'm glad you both had the chance to say goodbye.
