Hello everyone, wow, it's been a minute since we've posted!
Our colony cats sure have been enjoying the nice warm sun in the RangitΔ«kei when its here!
βοΈππ₯
Although it has been rather quiet on here- our lives and rescue work certainly havent been.
We have been bucketing in on word of mouth adoptions, and solely relying on them. π’πππ€³
We have always had a waiting list for kittens, like always.. π
But many kittens (who aren't black, tabby or "too boring") have grown up in our care. Sigh.
Because of this, we have TOO many GORGEOUS junior and adult cats who are STILL waiting for their forever homes. ππ
We understand kittens can be easier to mould into the purrrfect kitten for your family.. not to forget their adorableness. But our older cats have literally seen hundreds come and go, whom themselves barely get adoptee meets of their own. β³οΈβοΈ
This has been detrimental to our operations.. how can we possibly continue bringing cats in, if cats are not going out? We can't. βοΈβοΈ
Without trying to dive to deep into boring statistics... we have overlooked the numbers filling up 3 books, over the last nearly 5 years of operating... our numbers to this date are: πππ

Excuse our language but wholey f**k!
Looking back at that makes us unbelievably proud. & we COULD NOT have done that without YOU!
Not only do we remember every single cats name that has come through and left our doors, but we also remember every single person who has made that possible.

2023 & 2024 were the β‘οΈ slowestβ¬
οΈ for us in terms of intakes and adoptions.
Our personal lives meant rearranging our priorities, therefore, have had to majorly step on the brakes for LPR in terms of trapping in the quantities we generally do, taking on new colonies, the intake of cats who are not injured, sick, pregnant or kittens. π±π₯
We are and have been in the position for awhile, where not only are we simply to knackered to carry on rescue work for much longer but also needing the time (that we do not have currently with the upkeep of LPR) to stay ontop of our own lives and begin new journeys as a family.π¦π©βπ©βπ¦
Let's not forget, it would be amazing to have our home back. π
πΌ
For the past nearly 5 years we have been waking up at 4am to feed our colonies, which over time collectively have varied from 50-200 cats...
rain, hail or sometimes we are out there when earthquakes hit.. π§π¨π¬
not only working but we're also parents to a wonderful, understanding animal loving 6 year old.. who deserves our full attention, love and time. π©΅ππ«
Some nights, after tending to our rescue and personal animals we get to sleep in between midnight and 1am. Back up at 4am, ready for work at 7am, school, adoption appointments, vet appointments, foster check ups, food topups, regulary checking in on the cats at the HQ, our own appointments, our own schedules, taming and medicating, the CONSTANT cleaning.. the list goes on. πππ§Ήπ§½π§Όπ
We love every second of the benefits of preventing stray, sick and unwanted cats/kittens in the RangitΔ«kei.. but we are also only human who in many times, suffer hugely from compassion fatigue, exhaustion and are emotionally, mentally and physically drained. π₯±ππ΄
It's taken a huge toll on us and our family.
To sum this all up...
π«βοΈβοΈ
Once we have lessened significantly in numbers of cats in our care, (currently 32) and tamed the remaining for adoptions..
LPR will be closing its doors. & we will discuss in the future, if LPR will re-open or offer services again.
π«βοΈβοΈ
It has been a very, very hard and difficult decision. Heartbreaking actually.. π
LPR was all we knew for a long time. We have lived and breathed it, and we wouldn't have imagined helping so many cats in the process, thanks to each and every single one of you. πββοΈπ«±πΌβπ«²π½ππΌπ±
This isn't good bye as of yet, for the remainder we still have cats we need to rehome and kittens in foster care, ontop of the feeding of our colonies... ultimately, whilst we still have LPRs in our care, we are still LPR.
π¨ππ£βοΈ
But in terms of intakes, numbers will go down and not up.
We will not be taking in ANY new kittens or cats. Our doors are closed permanently.
We are so sorry.
π¨ππ£ βοΈ
Our gorgeous rescues up for adoption have been waiting longer than any cat should have to wait.. all cats listed have been with us for more than the duration of 1 year. π₯ although they do not miss out on what any other family cat receives daily.... a forever home is what they deserve, and what we promised them 1 year ago.
πΌβοΈ Because of this, the adoption koha for the cats listed in this post, is for a min of $50- verses our usual adoption koha of $100.
βοΈπΌ
π ALL of our cats will need the upmost patience and the minimum of 6 weeks inside, prior to going outside because of their lengthly duration in our care.
Some frequently go to temp foster care for socialization and a change of scenery, but there are a few who are colony adjusted/prefer cats over hoomans and will need to be homed with other cats.
πββ¬ ALL of our cats are use to young children and dogs( some have particular age requirements for children.) Provided the children and dog/s are properly introduced and know about safe handling. (Please ask us for guidance if you need help on safe introducing and handling.)
πALL of our cats listed are colony caught, ex wildies who have been tamed and sucessfully socialized.
As stated above, they will need the upmost patience.
πββ¬ALL are upto date with flea and worm treatments, desexed, microchipped and registered and come with their first weeks worth of food to ensure safe weaning onto new owners preferred diet.
πALL of our cats will only go to the best of homes, as per our usual adoption process.
We have travelled as far as Auckland to take our LPR cats to their forever homes.
Distance does not matter, finding the PURRFECT family for our cats do. We will not rehome them to you, if we have the smallest of concerns.
πββ¬ All of our cats are well bonded. We have 1 pair, duo'd by us.
If you are in the position to adopt 2, we encourage you to think about it as it will help the kitties adjust.
If you ask us, rescue, ex feral colony cats make the B E S T cats....... π«Άπ½
For more information on our cats listed below, please message us and we will respond as soon as possible. Descriptions in comments.
Please share our beautiful felines, so they can FINALLY go HOME... ππ‘π
Remember, not good bye yet.
