Meet Bear
He's looking for a home with someone around lots in the day for him, another dog would be lovely, but no kids and no cats as they're not his thing.
Bear is 4.5yo bichon shih tzu cross, Bear. He's the sweetest boy on the planet. Due to circumstances changing, his Mum is concerned she won't be able to meet his needs in terms of stimulation, exercise and company.

For his whole life, he has come to work with her everyday, and also attended the Contented Canine 3 days a week. He is not stirred to being left home alone all day

He thrives off routine - to the extent that he knew what days were daycare days. He frequents the kennels (pets haven) and has received nothing but good feedback in terms of his interacting with other dogs and humans. He can sometimes be a bit funny about new people in his territory - I got him after the first covid lock down so he was/is very much used to me and him however he adapts very quickly and would adjust to more than one owner I.e. A family or couple.

He is great with other dogs, provided introductions are done right, but is very wary of kids due to a rough experience when he was little and so not be going to a home with them, or cats- he does come round to them, and is much better with older kids/teens who can understand and respect the patience he needs.

He does get environmental allergies - this is managed this with a cytopoint Injection once a month, but it can also be treated with standard antihistamines daily. He is a bit of a fussy eater, but that's potentially a result of his Mum succumbing to his stubbornness and spoiling him.

This has been a heartbreaking decision for his Mum, he will only be going to the very best match for his needs.

I think the ideal home for him would be with someone who is at home for the majority of the day, or who works part time, or even a recently retired couple who are able to walk (he's rather accustomed to 2 walks a day)/play with him until he gets a bit older. He would even do well with a family with teenagers who can engage/play with him. I can leave him at home alone for between 4 and 5 hours without any destructive behaviour or toilet issues (I leave him inside with access to the backyard if he needs to toilet). He loves walks, swimming and tennis balls/fetch.
As a Bichon Sh*tzhu cross, Bear required regular professional grooming, for his comfort and to keep him liking his best.

If you think your can offer this boy everything he needs, please apply here.

Meetings will be arranged with the best match

💚💚Herbie has met his perfect match💚💚
Meet Herbie, he's just a baaaaaaaby!!!!!
He is looking to be part of his new family and would love going out and about on trips with you, just as much as he'd love cuddling on the couch. He really is going to make someone a fantastic companion and pet.
He's looking for his perfect match. Herbie came to us at just around three months, he just wanted to find somewhere safe to tuck in out of harms way. He will be desexed, when the time is right and microchipped, he is already vaccinated and has been flea and worm treated.
Herbie is currently learning heaps with his amazing fosterers, who have nothing but praise for this sweet boy. This is what they tell us, after just a few days-
He is so chilled, he doesn’t excessively chew, greets people calmly without jumping or biting, greets other dogs with a sniff and then pretty happy to move on. He sits nicely and waits for food, he is quite tentative when it comes to new experiences, eg beach and water but now wanders through water. We have even had him off lead at the dog park initially to see if he runs off but no he just potters around with us We therefore let him off in a calm area of the beach and he again just pottered with us – he will run a little to play with another dog but wont go too far. We have even allowed him into our bedroom where my elderly cat is and he just sits and looks at her – has made no attempt to get closer. We went to a neighbourhood bbq today and he just sat with us, even off lead he just mooched around, sniffed and greeted everyone and then came back to us. He is getting better and better on the lead, doesn’t really pull and is getting an awareness of where we are and walking in a straight line. He is honestly a dream dog – everyone is so impressed with him.
Yep, for sure, he will as everything does, go through adolescence, which will come with a few more challenges, so someone who is prepared to continue the great work that has been started is a must, as well as being around home lots for this young fella.
If you'd like to apply to adopt Herbie, just fill in our easy online application- https://tally.so/r/3qGk57

✳️✳️PRIVATE REHOME✳️

Poppy is a 4 year old heading dog rescue, de sexed, chipped and up to date with her vaccinations. 🐕
She is a gorgeous girl looking for a new forever home where she can truly thrive. While her family loves her deeply, they recognise she deserves a life better suited to her needs. With the arrival of a baby, it has become clear that Poppy is not comfortable around young children and is not getting the exercise or attention she needs. Poppy is full of energy and adores playing, hiking, and exploring the outdoors. She makes a wonderful adventure companion and is not a dog that will relax if she has not had exercise so she needs to be with someone who is active and in a place she can run around, ideally on a section with a fence. 🏠
She can sometimes have issues with other dogs (but other times she can be friends with them) and may be cautious around new people. Her current family uses a muzzle on walking tracks to ensure everyone’s safety and comfort, as due to her history of puppy abuse she can growl at people she does not know.
Poppy has excellent recall, a big heart, and a lot of love to give. She would do best in a home with plenty of space to move, secure fencing to prevent her from wandering, and adults or families with older or no children. She needs an owner who understands the care and attention a rescue dog requires and is willing to provide the love and support she deserves. A very vibrant personality and boundless love to give when she trusts you. 😍
Please share Poppy…
Please PM us for the owners details if you would like to meet Poppy…🐶

With Christmas just around the corner, we are so grateful for our friends at Animates Nelson, who have worked tirelessly putting together these amazing hampers for pets of all shapes and sizes. You can get your tickets in store to win one, the dogs of Second Chance Tasman are the beneficiaries of everything they raise this year, so not one cent will go to waste.
We know it's been a tough year for many, lots of dogs surrendered gives us a pretty clear picture. Your support makes the difference for all these local dogs, it allows us to place them into foster families, cover their medical costs and provide them with everything they could need to be well and go on to find their new forever loving home.
This is a great chance for you to do that and win some wonderful prizes for your pet, even if it's not a dog, there's something for everyone.
Please head in store and pick up a whole load of tickets, the dogs thanks you, well they would if they could talk
😍🐶😍🐶😍🐶😍🐶😍
Thank you Animates Nelson WOOF WOOF!!!
