SPCA Hawke's Bay provide the local community with an essential service, advocating on behalf of animals through education and enforcement, when necessary. We are a non-government funded charity and we a funded solely on the support from our local community. Every year we care for thousands of lost, sick, injured, abandoned and abused animals. We rescue animals from harmful situations, attend hundr

eds of animal emergencies, and investigate hundreds of complaints about the ill-treatment of animals. SPCA Hawke's Bay has the power to protect all animals from abuse, neglect, and abandonment, including prosecuting people under the Animal Welfare Act 1999. Although we work on behalf of all animals, we are also here to serve you, the community of Hawke's Bay. We offer a range of services

SNIP ‘N’ CHIP COMES TO HAWKE'S BAY! 🙌🐱

We are excited to be launching a new Snip ‘n’ Chip campaign for cat owners in Napier, Hastings, Waipukurau, Dannevirke, and other areas in the region.

From 5 March 2025 we are working with local participating veterinary clinics to offer this service to cat owners who are struggling with the cost of desexing and microchipping. Vouchers help those in need get their cat desexed and microchipped for $30.

Bookings are now OPEN! 👉 Click the link in the comment section to check if vouchers are available in your area and register for your Snip ‘n’ Chip voucher.

If you know someone who needs help with the online system, you can help by completing the registration with them. Thank you so much to our participating vet clinics for helping us to make this important campaign possible.

PLEASE REMEMBER - a limited number of vouchers are available to help those who require financial assistance. Please, only get a voucher if you need one and intend to use it. In the past, we have noticed some vouchers were never used, or bookings were made with vet clinics and never attended 💔 When this happens, it prevents someone else from using the voucher who might really need it.

An urgent message for our community.

Avian Botulism has been detected in a mass die off event currently affecting our local waterfowl species that has spread to other areas including Anderson Park.

The Fish and game team are leading the response- please report to fish and game for species found deceased or struggling.
It is vital to the response that they are collected and removed.

Please keep your dogs away from pond/creeks at this stage until further direction is given from the fish and game team.

If your dog becomes ill after contact with the water or after coming into contact with a bird please seek immediate veterinarian advice.

For more information on Avian Botulism please see the link below

Botulism is a natural toxin produced by a bacterium (Clostridium botulinum) commonly found in soil. There are several types of botulism toxin, some of which can affect humans. Birds get their own kind of botulism (Type C). Botulism Type C is concentrated in aquatic invertebrates that filter feed sed...

Thank you to the team of fundraisers from Charity Rapid Bingo at the RSA Napier for their generous donation today. We are so grateful to be their recipients this month 😻

These fundraisers are hosted by a team of volunteers from the Napier RSA Cue Sports. This team saw the potential to make the weekends fun while providing a charity with much needed funds. 20% of the profits are donated to their chosen charity each month.

No need to be a member to play fun weekend bingo. Saturdays start as the raffles finish around 12 noon, but come early to get a great spot and support some raffles too. Sundays start at 12.pm.

Head along to support a great cause and have a go at BINGO!

😍Warm your heart Wednesday😍

We love being able to provide socialization experiences for all our dogs and puppies. It is an important part of dog behaviour, temperament testing and enrichment. The bonds that they develop with each other whilst in the shelter melt our hearts.

Tucker loves it when "his puppies" come to play, making sure to clean their ears, teach them new tricks and keep them in line 🐾♥

If you are interested in any of the dogs in the video, they are all available here ➡ https://www.spca.nz/adopt?centres=napier-centre

Are you passionate about animals? Do you have excellent organisational skills and people skills? We want to hear from you! 🐶🐱

We are currently looking for volunteers to help us with an SPCA fundraising event in May. The fundraiser will take place across Friday 30 May, Saturday 31 May, and Sunday 1 June. As a volunteer Area Coordinator, you’ll play a key role in coordinating teams, managing logistics, and ensuring that everything runs smoothly in your location.

This is a great opportunity to make a real impact and support a cause you care about. Ready to help? Get in touch with us to today by emailing your name and location to [email protected] ❤️ We can’t wait to hear from you!

We thought we would share a little insight into our morning routine here at the SPCA Hawke's Bay Napier Centre. It certainly is the best way to start the day 💖

Our kittens and cats line the doorways waiting for us, and it's a race for us to get in the door with their breakfast. Once the breakfast rush is over, we clean and get our adoption rooms ready for the public to come in and meet our furry friends.

We will be ready to open tomorrow morning from 10am-2.30pm for our weekend “CATurday adoptions”

So come on in! We can’t wait to match you with your new feline family member 😻
