It's been an age since I've posted anything.....
It's been the busiest wee year on the farm, and I've almost come a full circle, preparing for boysenberry season π¦again, canes tied, and leaf bursting, looking like it's going to be an absolutely fantastic harvest ahead.
The foliage has provided 10 mths of the yr, and with spring growth, is about to have a rest, the maintenance begins, and I get a wee break!! βοΈ I am so grateful to my customers year after year that they continue to support us. The demand just grows. We now have 5 acres of intensively planted eucalyptus for foliage production under harvest, with more to go in the ground this spring πΏπΏπΏ
The flower beds are prepped to seedlings growing in glasshouse π»πΌπ΅
Lambs, baby goats, milking again.....
Even found a way to recycle my ice cream containers from the real fruit ice cream shop - oyster mushies (these are the easiest things ever to grow from scratch if anyone wants to know how..... )
My goal this yr is to grow and produce the biggest portion of what our family eats
I've learned a lot this year.
In horticulture, I think it's SO important not to put all your eggs in one basket. Especially when growing crops for the floral industry. Trends change. You always have to be one step ahead. In 20 yrs in the industry, I have been able to lean on other crops when some have been less desired or not produced enough. Next yr may be different again π
but it's provided us with income to continue to grow the business rapidly practicing this way.....Diversity.
I'm so grateful for this wonderful piece of paradise, hubby working behind the scenes to do all the heavy lifting, & I'm so excited to see what the next 12 months may bring.π₯°π₯°π₯°
