Hey All, I know I’ve been quiet on here , but I’ve still being helping with the community cats desexing, and helping with a couple of litters while managing my own health appointments.
One urgent after hours care, ‘Biggilo’ I called him. Beloved to have been hit and limping, so an after hours appointment to be assured of what was going on with a limp.
Luckily Biggilo (a beautiful Blue boy ) was cared for, X-rayed on the limping leg, and cleared for release…
But not until he was neutered, chipped, registered , Vaccinated, flea and worm treated and cleared for release back to his community.
Then I was called to 3 kittens at a business, 4 weeks of age.
They were urgently taken in to see the vet, as their colour ( CRT) or (capillary refill time ) was almost non existent to the naked eye.
White/tinge of blue in one and they needed treatment and assessment asap.
So that’s what’s I did.
There were 4-5 kittens spotted by the company, and of course attempts within the limitations of an OSH restricting site, meant that trapping could only be done a certain way, and not until the next day.
Unfortunately that meant over the next few days of trying, even with great help and notification from the business, it was impossible to use the 3 poorly kittens for ‘bait ‘ ( done in a safe carrier with a heat pad etc) to draw in the Mumma and itjer kittens.
Thorough searches from emplyees able to access areas I couldn’t, sadly turned up no other kittens or direct sightings of a Mother cat.
Using box traps with the business’ help I did manage to trap a suspected Mother ( two fluffy with a small face) to say definitively the gender.
So a rush again to the vet to check gender and decide what to do from there.
I wouldn’t want to of held a nursing Mother of possibly two more 4 week old kittens for very long..
Town and Country again knew the urgency as they had cared for the 3 kittens, and slotted the new cat in to be sedated, to check gender and Mother ( milk) status, if any.
Somewhat fortunately, this slim faced tabby and white gorgeous looking cat was a young ( likely around a yr old male). He’d never been seen before, and sadly had no chip.
He was also not intersted in human contact beyond thr fact hes gets fed where he was, and watches at a distance I’ve been told since and sadly not or desexed.
Desexed and the works just likee Biggilo.
So, Jets took care of him too. He is called Brumble.
He is also back where he calls home just like Biggilo .
Don’t worry, I have eyes and ears in the location for the Mum cat and one-2 remaining kitten/s and Mum of course.
Meanwhile, please realise that while I may not be thrashing things out publicly, i am still helping with cases quietly.
Also helping with traps, tips, assessments of age andd temprement.
Flea and worming etc and vet checks and care, some with cases that the kittens were deemed fully Dimesic, and where , due to my physical health, ( nothing massively serious, and it’s getting sorted) , I was able to deem these kittens healthy and safe, do the main things, help the girl trap them. Etc and then be able to hand them off to the SPCA for desexing and rehoming .
AndI am brateful to them for doing that.
I’m simply could not have afforded all that while off work.
The 3 kittens I do have were just about to hit the two week quarantine end, when they showed signs something was brewing.
( typical to watch for in weak and young kittens, and why quarantine is so important)
But this again meant an urgent vet after hours…
Antibiotics and Sub-Cut fluids.
So already in two weeks they along with the other two adult boys, and significantly taken a toll of Jets finances.
But, I just wanted to pop in to thank everyone that does donate to Jets rescue vet account.
I’m so grateful.
You save lives, even though I don’t post much at this time.
Humphrey , Miss Howie, and Miss Hattie ( the kittens) are now recovering very well, growing so fast and are lucky to have one definite home ( for Humphrey and Miss Howie) and one almost definite home for the Sweet and funny Hattie.
So thanks 🙏 again to those who silently donate, and simply believe in my work.
Due to the massive desexing we ( a few amaxing volunteers ) and myself, we managed to get done a lot of work in the area I most care for.
And this is my first call out to a litter in this area all season!
Whoop!!
This is what I truly aim for.
To not be as needed.
We continue to monitor, the area, and work within council guide to mot only protect these cats, and kittens, but value their jobs as resident rodentst hunters. None of the buisnesses in this area have issues with rodents, and the cats are appreciated for their skill set, they have carers and are far from native bird life etc.
The Fur Team thank you all sooo much!
