Hi I’m Emma, founder of Take the Lead QT. 👋🏽

It’s been a while since I introduced myself and thought I’d share a little about myself and my camera roll (outside of the thousands of dog photos 😆)

Originally from Manchester, UK I have called NZ home for 6 years now! When I am not caring for Queenstowns best pups and running the behind the scenes of the business you might find me…

Skiing ⛷️ - this time last year I was on a season in Japan!
Hiking 🥾- yes I still love hiking even if my feet need a rest after a week of work
Out for dinner 🍴- I’m such a foodie but I hate cooking
Sailing ⛵️ - a lot to learn but I love it!
At my allotment 👩🏼‍🌾 - anyone need any marrows?!
Road trips 🚙 - still so much of NZ to see
At the Gym 💪🏼 - but I still can’t touch my toes
Being Creative 🎨 - I have a Bachelor of Arts Honours in Graphic Design
Hanging with my cat 🐈 - when I’ve run out of energy you will find me curled up with Charlie

*NEW SPACES AT TAKE THE LEAD QT*
A few of our pups are heading off onto new adventures which means spaces are opening up on our pack walks!

Departing us are Millie, Zephie, Brodie, Stan & Spike. They will all be greatly missed and we wish them the best of luck in their next destinations!

If you have been thinking about signing your dog up now is a great time! Let’s organise a meet and greet before the Christmas madness and save you some time over the silly season. We ensure your pup is well socialised, exercised and receives all the love during those times you need a hand!

This morning I wasn’t feeling 100%. One of those days where you think if I didn’t work for myself I’d probably take a sick day. Small business owners we all have to admit we’ve been there 😅

I dragged myself out and in the end had a great day! 19 amazing doggos, with some excellent progress from Odin on recall and commands. Plus Ralph’s confidence is really growing, he now runs to the door when he sees the van pull up for his walk. We love a breakthrough day!

To top it off I got home and read these lovely recommendations from my amazing clients. My heart is full 🥰

I’ve been terrible at posting recently but last month we gained an angel.

Little Olive was the sweetest pup who had been on adventures with us since March 2022.

Here’s some photos of over the years of her adventure buddies and her sister Lupa.

All the team were heartbroken of the news. She held a special place in our hearts taking #1 spot on giving cuddles and demanding all of the love.

We hope you’re still zooming around fields and strictly front seat riding

Always wondered how to get a good photo of your pup? A high place which allows them limited area to move is a good place to start. You can practice their sit and stay and get a good camera angle 📸

Take the Lead QT has a limited amount of spaces opening up for the second half of 2024!

Operating for 3 years in the Queenstown region we love and care for each dog as if they were our own.

Whilst the days get shorter have peace of mind knowing your pups had great exercise, fun with their furry friends and has practiced basic training.

One of my favourite things about Take the Lead is learning about each dogs individual personalities. Each dog here is so different with their needs yet bond so well and have great walks together! Even Meg and Bailey (the collies) are so different. Taking the time to learn about each dog and create a harmonious pack is always our goal 🐾

Fun fact!

Having grown up with a Blue Roan Cocker Spaniel aptly named ‘Blue’ Emma has a huge soft spot for spaniels.

Which makes sense for why we have 11 of them signed up each week to Take the Lead QT along with a few more casuals and also some cross breeds!

Here are a selection of some of the beautiful spaniels we have on board! If you have a spaniel that would be interested in joining the crew this could be your sign!

We’re happy to announce we have launched PUPPY GROUPS!

Is your pup still a little too young for long walks? Are they in need of a mid day change of scene to tire them out for the afternoon before you come back from work?

Each Wednesday we will take a select small group out for 30 minutes of socialisation around mid day to introduce them to other pups. We will help with the basic principles of setting them up for a great walk which then allows them freedom to socialise correctly.

All puppies who enquire must have the correct vaccinations and be inline with veterinary advice.

Nala cooling off in the river deserves a place on the grid. It’s the little head dip for me! As the days are getting hotter we will be heading out earlier with the dogs, ensuring the cars are well ventilated with cool mats and extra water bowls! We always aim to be by the water or in the shade to keep everyone happy and healthy whilst they still get to hang with their friends 🐾

Happy International Dog Day! We’ve been pretty quiet on here recently but what a better time to get back into action than today. We hope you guys and your pups are all doing well in lockdown. This is my first ever attempt at a reel! I hope you all enjoy ☺️
