Trevalda Irish Sporthorses, breeders of quality Irish horses, and standing purebred RID stallion, Ballineen Blue Mountain (Brian). Brian was imported from the UK in 2011, and comes with Grade One status with the Irish Horse Society of Great Britain. Our aim is to breed REAL quality Irish Sporthorses to compete in the saddle hunter rings, but who are as equally competitive in any of the olympic dis

ciplines, and as field hunters. We have a carefully selected band of broodmares, warmblood, TB and Irish. These mares have been chosen for conformation and temperament to compliment Ballineen Blue Mountain and the foals we have on the ground are testament to us having the right formula. We quite often have young stock for sale, so just contact us with your needs. All horses are professionally handled and started under saddle here at Trevalda and you can see an ever increasing number of quality Irish sporthorses throughout the country competing under the 'Trevalda' prefix, that are giving their new owners much joy and success, which is what we love to see. Update for those interested, we have safely made it to Blenheim.
We are happily camped at the racecourse (only for a few hours) and then we'll head to the ferry just after midnight. Board the ferry at 1.30, sail at 2am and then should be docked in Wellington by around 6am. Thanks to Ella for having Zak, Sophie and I in Christchurch last night!
A stop off at Karena's in Upper Hutt tomorrow morning and then we'll push through to Hastings to arrive at the show grounds around mid afternoon.
So far, so good!

Well, today we hit the road!
Three days of travel, with a ferry ride from one Island to the other on our way to New Zealand's Horse of The Year Show.
Pictured is Zak (Trevalda Mountain Storm) with Dani Simpson winning the prestigious Gee Whizz Memorial Turnout class in 2020. These two are once again competing in this class on Wednesday and then it's my turn to take the reins on Thursday in the Saddle Hunter classes.

How wonderful is this...
Our beautiful big Class 1 Irish Draught mare Kilconnell Go Free (Gortfree Hero x Tanas Queen x Castana) that we imported from Ireland in her new home.
Big Elsa is being superbly well looked after by Karena and Georgia Fellowes (Georgia riding in pic).
So happy to see her being the best she can be in her new job.

Always the busiest week of the year for me, Central Otago A&P Show last Saturday, Maniototo A&P Show on Wednesday and Mt Benger Show this Saturday.
A beautiful foggy morning before a 30 degree day made for some lovely pics at our local Maniototo Show, thanks Kerri!

I had a lovely 🥵day judging Hacks, Riding Horse, Supremes and then all the Round The Ring Jumping yesterday at Mt Benger, 33 degrees when I pulled out the gate at 4.30pm!

Then the fabulous Dani Simpson climbed aboard for Champion Rider and Champion Side Saddle... chucked on this afternoon for the first time in 4 years. This photo is just a snap shot of how he went the whole time in the Side Saddle! Beautiful to watch ☘️🦄

Our workout for the South Island Premier Saddle Hunter Title. It was close to 3pm on Day 3. Both Zakky and I were pretty buggered by this stage but he just kept plodding on. Just a wee miscommunication at the start, but it's a nice wee snippet of his kind and generous way of going.

Second day of New Zealand Agricultural Show. We started the day pretty slowly, I was nervous and our Open class was first up. I didn't ride Zak as well as I could of or had him warmed up and working well enough. We managed Reserve Champion Saddle Hunter in some lovely company. After I gave us both a good slap we won the Best Paced Saddle Hunter which then qualified us for the Bethell Salver - Supreme Champion Paced and Mannered Horse of the show. And after performing a pretty decent workout we were announced the winners. I'm super proud to have won this two years in a row now with two of my homebred Irish Draughts. What better advertising could there be for the breed!? Paces to match any TB or Warmblood and temperament and manners to pull off a complicated workout. Thanks to all of my supporters who have to keep reminding me to put my big girl pants on and that I can do it. Video of my very reserved lap of honor!

Trevalda Mountain Jewel just left us yesterday and headed off to her fabulous new home. Lovely to get this vid today of her out hacking and being loved and enjoyed. She's had less than 20 rides under saddle and look at her go. I feel sad that she's gone but proud and happy all at the same time!

Last ride for Dancer before he sets off in the morning to travel to the North Island for the NZ Horse of the Year Show. Just a quiet hack down the road, all the arena schooling is done, nothing I can teach him now that he doesn't already know!

So, it seems that during our arguments someone is taking notice of what I'm asking 🤦. I think Dancer is really just trying to tell me 'I've got this!' Central Otago A&P Show... Kilconnell Go Free (Elsa), imported from Ireland, fully inspected Class 1 mare is still looking for her new home. By Gortfree Hero x Kilconnell Star. Fabulous natured mare, has been backed, would hunt this season. She's at least 17.2hh, gentle giant! Not for breeding but suitable to take embryos from.
