Trevalda Irish Sporthorses, breeders of quality Irish horses, and standing purebred RID stallion, Ballineen Blue Mountain (Brian). Brian was imported from the UK in 2011, and comes with Grade One status with the Irish Horse Society of Great Britain. Our aim is to breed REAL quality Irish Sporthorses to compete in the saddle hunter rings, but who are as equally competitive in any of the olympic dis

ciplines, and as field hunters. We have a carefully selected band of broodmares, warmblood, TB and Irish. These mares have been chosen for conformation and temperament to compliment Ballineen Blue Mountain and the foals we have on the ground are testament to us having the right formula. We quite often have young stock for sale, so just contact us with your needs. All horses are professionally handled and started under saddle here at Trevalda and you can see an ever increasing number of quality Irish sporthorses throughout the country competing under the 'Trevalda' prefix, that are giving their new owners much joy and success, which is what we love to see. Well, Flo isn't going to foal tonight and I'm away tomorrow to Christchurch for the South Island Premier Show.
Last foaling season I Ai'ed her on the 9th January and she foaled on the 15th December... while I was at the Prems Show. I was heading to the ring for my first class and the foaling alarm started going off, phoned hubby to check her and sure enough she was foaling.
Just went through my notes and I Ai'ed her this season on... 9th of January! Gavin will have to be on call again.
Looks to be a very big Ballineen Blue Mountain baby in there!

Goldsmith Country Mon Cheri got a special parcel sent down today from Derrynasagurt Silver.
Thanks Wai Eyre Farm, the semen looks fabulous under the microscope and it's now happily swimming away in Cherie after I Ai'ed her standing in the middle of the paddock with Gavin occupying the front end with a bucket of feed 😀

Trevalda Mountain Storm - 3/4 Irish Draught, by Ballineen Blue Mountain (RID) and out of Tarahill Kulzari (ISH by Branigans Pride, bred in Australia).
Mr Zakky and I had a fab day at West Otago A&P Show on Saturday.
Champion Led Horse, Champion Saddle Hunter, Champion Paced and Mannered Horse and Supreme Champion Horse.
It was a lovely day out (even if I did have to get out of bed at 3am), great company, well organized, super areas to warmup and compete, so thanks to all involved.
Thanks to those who came to my rescue when I discovered that I had forgotten my numnah 🤦‍♀️, old age is catching up on me!

Checking mares and foals last night. Super happy with this lot! My three foals by Derrynasagurt Silver and the next three mares are due to foal to Ballineen Blue Mountain over the following 6 weeks. Thankfully its been a great Spring so theres plenty of feed around.

Here at Trevalda, we are still heavily invested in this beautiful boy. We love and miss him dearly and we are so very proud of the stunning foals he is producing. Leggy, athletic types with super natures and many mares being returned to produce a second foal to him as owners are so pleased with the cross.
Although we are very sad that the big lad is not able to stand here with us (the sad reality of living remotely and not having access to an airport or a reliable courier service), we are so happy he is with Tir na nog Irish Draughts NZ who are Canterbury based where logistics are so much easier.

Second day of New Zealand Agricultural Show. We started the day pretty slowly, I was nervous and our Open class was first up. I didn't ride Zak as well as I could of or had him warmed up and working well enough. We managed Reserve Champion Saddle Hunter in some lovely company. After I gave us both a good slap we won the Best Paced Saddle Hunter which then qualified us for the Bethell Salver - Supreme Champion Paced and Mannered Horse of the show. And after performing a pretty decent workout we were announced the winners. I'm super proud to have won this two years in a row now with two of my homebred Irish Draughts. What better advertising could there be for the breed!? Paces to match any TB or Warmblood and temperament and manners to pull off a complicated workout. Thanks to all of my supporters who have to keep reminding me to put my big girl pants on and that I can do it. Video of my very reserved lap of honor!

Trevalda Mountain Jewel just left us yesterday and headed off to her fabulous new home. Lovely to get this vid today of her out hacking and being loved and enjoyed. She's had less than 20 rides under saddle and look at her go. I feel sad that she's gone but proud and happy all at the same time!

Last ride for Dancer before he sets off in the morning to travel to the North Island for the NZ Horse of the Year Show. Just a quiet hack down the road, all the arena schooling is done, nothing I can teach him now that he doesn't already know!

So, it seems that during our arguments someone is taking notice of what I'm asking 🤦. I think Dancer is really just trying to tell me 'I've got this!' Central Otago A&P Show... Kilconnell Go Free (Elsa), imported from Ireland, fully inspected Class 1 mare is still looking for her new home. By Gortfree Hero x Kilconnell Star. Fabulous natured mare, has been backed, would hunt this season. She's at least 17.2hh, gentle giant! Not for breeding but suitable to take embryos from.
