AN UPDATE ON BENJAMIN ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ’•โญ๐ŸŒ โญ

Benjamin has been very curious about his Christmas decorations and I feel he enjoys them, especially the colourful lights during the night.

His wounds have healed on the left side with only a tiny needle-sized point still open, which acts as a draining point for the surrounding tissue. It lets some small drop of pus out in the morning especially when I exercise his leg. This will not close until the entire area is 100% restored.

The new development was that a few days ago, he developed a new draining point on this side near his ribs.

A huge amount of pus and other unhealthy fluids were excreted, which substantially helped his ability to move this left leg. As he had a severely compromised respiratory system on arrival with a lot of mucus and persistent coughing, I think due to the many beneficial herbs, addressing this problem, he was able to detoxify and his body found the nearest exit point to push out the accumulated stagnant lymphatic toxicity, hence helping him to detoxify and restore both his respiratory system and mobility.

This draining point has been cleaned, dressed and kept closing and getting smaller within 3 days.

The right leg which had a massive amount of lost skin, has only a small patch at the front open, with healthy tissue and skin working its way to complete the healing of this right leg. The most important part is that all the skin underneath this leg has been restored fully and this was major progress and relief, as he no longer has any raw tissue rubbing against skin and the associated risks or discomfort.

I am no longer worried or concerned about his wounds, as they have been under control and completely responsive to the extensive range of remedies and both internal and external protocol of alternative medicine treatments for months.

My concern and worry is that he might be unable to walk yet due to other more serious underlying health issues like cancer, which is not unlikely due to his age and lack of any extra nutritional care during his life.

He has a huge and healthy appetite but he is not gaining any weight. He has definitely lost all the swelling, which was due to the systemic inflammation all over his body. This is very positive but I would expect to see him gaining some weight by now.

Additionally, I have noticed quite a lot of mucus in his feaces. He developed diarrhea a couple of days ago and I noticed some small blood stains too. In the nearly 6 months, he developed diarrhea on 3 previous occasions, which lasted for a couple of days but I managed to help him and stop it with the right homeopathic remedies, herbs and supplements.

He was always stronger and feeling better after every single such incident, as this is a major detoxification route for the body.

His latest diarrhea lasted for a day and after administration of slippery elm bark, calcium bentonite, activated charcoal in different doses and times during the day and his homeopathic remedies of phosphorus 200 C and Nux vomica 30 C, his feaces became formed again but small blood stains are still present.

He is bright, with a good appetite and he now uses his vocal cords, calling me every time he hears me approaching his stable! If you had read previous updates, Benjamin had been strangely silent since arrival until recently that I heard him for the first time.

For his own sake, I truly hope that it is just another deeper detoxification effort of his old body and we do not have an underlying malignancy somewhere in his intestines or lungs, two common areas that cancer has been found on sheep.

From the perspective of alternative medicine, it does not change my way of approaching his treatment, as whatever we do only helps and enhances the immune system, offering the best and only chance for detoxification, cleansing, healing and restoration of any affected areas. The rest is upon his own body, vitality and unfortunately, age limits.

On thing is for sure, I will continue to stand by his side and fight for his life, spirit and soul up to his last breath.

I know that he trusted me with his life from the first day he laid eyes on me and he knows by now that there is no other human being on the planet that would have managed to keep him alive or help him progress that far.

Let's hope that Time and the Divine above, will bless him and allow him to restore fully to enjoy the remaining days of his earthly life on this microcosm of paradise for all rescued animals.

P.S : For reference, this is the link to the original pictures of the wounds, taken one week after Benjamin's treatment.

THE FESTIVE SEASON ๐ŸŽ„FOR THE S.T.AR.S โญ๐ŸŒ โญ ......

The festive season of the year coincides with the busy bird season, so we have never been without baby birds in need of our care, which is their last chance of survival.

I had to intervene three days ago, as two of the baby peacocks, the smallest and weakest, were rejected and chased away by their own mother.

Baby peacocks are the hardest ones to help in my personal experience and their mortality rates are very high. I very rarely succeed in turning things around for them, as by the time the mother rejects them, they are terminally ill. They refuse to eat, have diarrhea and pass away within a couple of days. Even my extensive range of alternative medicine remedies and treatments is incapable of reversing their condition and assist their immature immune system.

So, I view my work on baby peacocks as end of life, compassionate care and do my best to help them pass away in comfort, feeling loved during their short life. I think it is a kinder way to die that being beaten and chased away by your own mother, even though I understand the mother's perspective and effort to protect her remaining healthy peachicks from the severely ill ones.

This time, it might be different, as the critical 48 hours have passed, the peachicks responded to my remedies, started to pick on food from my hand, after many hours of patient effort, their droppings look healthier and they are now quite active, feeding on their own most of the day.

I am cautiously optimistic for them and hope they will grow strong and healthy into adulthood to enjoy a good life on our sanctuary, alongside their mother, siblings and other peacocks.

We took some pictures from their early breakfast yesterday morning.

A HELPING HAND FROM THE S.T.AR.S โญ๐ŸŒ โญ TO THE HEDGEHOGS OF CHRISTCHURCH
๐Ÿฆ”๐ŸŽ„๐Ÿฆ”๐ŸŽ„๐Ÿฆ”๐ŸŽ„

We organized a visit on Friday 22/12/23, to Pauline and her rescued hedgehogs and shared a couple of boxes of NOOD dry cat and dog foods (18 KG) from our very last sanctuary supplies to help her work.
Pauline is the only individual in Christchurch that helps hedgehogs and she does not get any assistance from any of the established and well funded charities or has the support options available to the charity sector.

Unfortunately, we have not secured any new large pet food supplies from manufacturers yet, but felt Pauline's dedication and hard work deserved a Christmas gift from our small charity this year.

We also shared some fresh produce supplies for her hedgehogs and other animals under her care.

Pauline was busy with a new baby hedgehog that requires feeding every couple of hours day and night, but was kind to let us handle the baby and take some pictures.

Thank you Pauline for your selfless dedication, commitment and hard work, making a big difference to the lives of those beautiful creatures.

We would like to thank all our suppliers, businesses for their support and assistance with various goods and services during the year and wish them a Merry Christmas & Happy, peaceful and prosperous New Year:

Once again, the credit for the expert baking goes to our secretary, Katerina that dedicated endless hours from her school holidays, in the meticulous preparation and presentation of those culinary masterpieces for all our local sponsors.

DIMITRAKIS ๐Ÿฆ WAS A GIRL ๐Ÿ˜ฏ๐Ÿ˜ฎ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

It is now certain that our baby blackbird rescue is a female!
I was expecting the darker areas on her feathers to develop into the characteristic black color of the Male blackbird but this never happened.

She has now grown to full adult size and it is clear that she is a beautiful girl.
There is not much difference in the male/ female version of this Greek name, so I continue to call her DIMITRAKI.
She has been able to feed herself for a while and I am now confident that she can join the blackbird rescue with the eye injury in the spacious outdoors aviary, exercise her wings and become stronger.
She is very gentle, trusting and still opens her mouth, expecting her feed, everytime I am near her flight cage.

Raising baby birds is the hardest job of all animal rescues with high mortality rates even for experts like their own parents. But it is successful stories like this one that make us feel overjoyed and rewarded for our devotion, dedication and extremely hard work to preserve and sustain life on the most vulnerable angelic souls on our planet.

WE GOT CATS' APPROVAL ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿˆ๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ‘

Savannah and Gani were fascinated by our bird watching videos!
They were trying to find the birds and were very excited to watch the videos with me.
They are well behaved most of the times but we keep all cats indoors until it gets dark to protect the young birds and new fledglings that are numerous during bird season.
Hopefully, in the near future all cats will get their own large enclosure outdoors, so they can enjoy the land at all times of the year.

STEPHANIA ๐Ÿฆ†AND NEW DUCKLINGS

Stephania, has grown up very well to adult size and moved to the chicken coop to act as a surrogate mother to two new orphan / abandoned ducklings found on the land.
We decided to delay her release until the new ducklings grow up and release them all as a group.
They have already grown a lot and I took some pictures today of these new mallard duck rescues.
I think in a couple of weeks it should be safe for all to be released on the sanctuary land and join all the other mallard ducks.

BIRDWATCHING ๐Ÿฆ FOR BIRD LOVERS ๐Ÿ’– AT S.T.AR.S โญ๐ŸŒ โญ

I tried to approach as close as possible one of the bird feeding stations at the sanctuary.
I do not think it would be exaggerated to say that we have thousands of wildbirds, trusting us and honoring our sanctuary with their Divine presence.

There are multiple feeding stations, which provide an abundance of seeds, fruits, wet breads and cat foods for the magpies, blackbirds, starlings, etc, throughout the day.
Even our pine trees are decorated daily with dozens of kilos of organic apples for our feathered friends.
I always hope that some of them are the released rescues that I have raised, treated and healed over the years.

The video captured only a fraction of the usual wild action, as they were aware of my proximity to the feeding station.

May the Divine continue to bless and protect the best representatives of the Highest Realms and provide the required resources to our sanctuary, so that we can continue to care and manifest a better Earth for all her beloved creatures.

AN AFTERNOON NAP FOR CATIKI ๐Ÿˆ๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ’•

I just came inside for lunch and Catiki ( former Candy) had the most adorable posture, waking up to say hello.
Catiki and Zeus were given a permanent home to the sanctuary in January 22, as their owners moved and could not take them with them in their new rental property.
They both have settled well and enjoy the most wonderful life on the sanctuary.

Benjamin seemed to have lost his voice following the dog attack as I had never heard him for over 4 months that I have been treating and caring for him.
Yesterday evening he became vocal and expressed his opinion by using his vocal cords for the FIRST TIME!
What an honor and sign of reassurance that he is indeed feeling stronger and on the way to regaining his full health.

We are glad to say that they all survived and have grown up to big adult size. Three males and one female. I managed to treat successful the girl, who had a persistent cough and was not gaining weight and they are ready to be moved to their outdoors enclosure for a few days before they are all released on the land of our sanctuary.

Food and water is provided every evening for all released hedgehogs and they all prefer to remain nearby and even follow me when feeding time comes!

Photos and videos to follow.

FOUR MONTHS TODAY SINCE BENJAMIN'S ๐Ÿ‘ ARRIVAL TO THE S.T.AR.S โญ๐ŸŒ โญ

He was only a few short days from death with massive infected wounds, systemic inflammation all over his body and pneumonia or pulmonary edema threatening to cut his life short.

It has been a huge battle, unimaginable effort and massive expense for us but his improvement and transformation during the last 4 months is our reward and badge of honor.

He is already regaining movement on both previously rigid front legs and the wounds are very superficial, very clean or already healed.

Let's hope, the remaining localized inflammation will also clear soon with his daily detoxification, alkalizing and immune boosting naturopathic treatment as well as his daily physiotherapy.

I took a couple of photos of his wounds yesterday and it is worth comparing with photos in our previous post.

A BABY BLACKBIRD RESCUE ๐Ÿฅ

Dimitrakis was rescued from the middle of the road on 26/ 10/ 23.
I had to make an emergency stop and rush to his rescue. Most likely he had fallen from the nearby trees as it was a windy day. He had no obvious injuries and he has grown up a lot since his arrival.
He still requires hand feeding but today he was moved from his soft crate to a flight cage.
We got a short video of him earlier today.

BIRD SEASON ๐ŸฅAND NEW ARRIVALS ๐Ÿ•ŠAT THE SANCTUARY ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒ ๐ŸŒŸ

We are always very busy and having no personal cameraman following me around or media representative for new updates, it takes a while before the time allows us to share with you some of our work.

Benjamin has been my number one focus and his disability and serious injuries make it impossible for me to do anything else except of caring, healing and covering all the needs of the sanctuary residents.
So, please accept our apologies and be assured that we could not be busier or provide any higher level of care for all creatures that find their way to our sanctuary.

On a positive note, Benjamin, the sheep attacked by stray dogs, has been improving dramatically, is more energetic, alert, has a massive appetite, wounds are clean, smaller and clearly on the mend. We will try to post soon about his progress with new videos and photos.

Somehow, I still had to find time and care for our new arrivals. An orphan mallard duckling, a female blackbird that had a serious head and eye injury, a juvenile female magpie that literally dropped half dead outside the door of our barn and a juvenile pigeon fallen from her nest with no parents around.

I am pleased to say that I managed to treat the blackbird and even saved her eye. Her injuries seem healed and she has now joined our other rescued birds in the aviary. She is already attached to the our male blackbird and they seem very happy together.

The young magpie, named Tara, most likely had a car impact on her right side and was very malnourished.
I stabilized her breathing, treated her pain and injuries and she is now able to use her right leg and stand up. She needs hand feeding every couple of hours and her remedies but I am very optimistic about her progress.

Our previous rescued family of ducklings were released on the sanctuary land a few months ago as they had reached full adult size but we are happy to see that they preferred to stay nearby, knowing this place has an abundance of quality foods for all birds and wildlife and that they are loved and protected on the sanctuary land.

The new orphan duckling, named Stephania, keeps gaining good weight and will be joining her friends on the land once she has reached adult size.

Our juvenile pigeon, named Aggelaki, needs hand feeding but she is already trying to pick on some seeds.
I am using one of our doves, Chris, as a surrogate father as he has helped me in the past with other young pigeons.
Chris seems to be bonding with Aggelaki, preening her / him and even trying to help me with feeding!
Once I am confident, she is more self sufficient, they will both join the other birds in the aviary.

Never a dull or lazy day on this sanctuary!

BENJAMIN'S ๐Ÿ‘ WOUNDS ARE GETTING DRESSED ๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’•

The twice daily cleaning, dressing and cover up of the wounds has changed and been adapted quite frequently as the condition and healing process progressed.
In this video, the wounds were cleaned with Weleda Hypercal Healing lotion, using organic chamomile tea instead of water and a few drops of 10,000 ppm colloidal silver.

Then Hypercal Healing cream was applied on the wounds and the wounds were covered with wet dressing of organic chamomile tea and colloidal silver solution before dry layers of paper tissue and then dry cloth covered Benjamin's leg, as per previous posted video.

You can see from Benjamin's calm reaction and full cooperation, that the above alkaline, soothing and healing procedure had his full acceptance and approval!

SUPER POWERFUL SMOOTHIE ๐Ÿ’ BREAKFAST ROUTINE FOR BENJAMIN

Video taken this morning (27/8/23)

A very high antioxidant and anti inflammatory fresh smoothie recipe I have been using to help boost the immune system of Benjamin and clear his inflammation and infection.
Most importantly he really loves and enjoys this healing drink.
As Hippocrates once said:

"LET FOOD BE THY MEDICINE AND LET MEDICINE BE THY FOOD "

Blueberry Smoothie Recipe

1 large bowl of blueberries ( frozen for this time of the year)
Juice of 2 lemons
1 apple
One large bunch of coriander
1 medium size piece of ginger
2 to 3 pieces of turmeric root
1 cup of organic dandelion tea after it reaches room temperature
1 spoonful of manuka honey
Liquid zinc
Liquid Trace minerals

I also add one capsule of digestive enzymes in his mug once ready to administer.
Don't forget the secret ingredient, lots of love and positive, healing energy from the Highest realms of our Universe.

NEW WOOL BLANKETS ๐Ÿ’• FOR BENJAMIN ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ™

We would like to thank ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ™ Raewyn Holmes, from Feline friends charitable trust for the generous gift of four wool blankets for our injured sheep, Benjamin.
It was a wonderful and very caring gesture from her and we could not think of anything more suitable than these warm, handmade wool blankets during this time of the year.
Benjamin will be nice and comfortable during the cold winter nights in his stable.
He is happily posing this morning with one of these donated blankets from Feline friends charitable trust!

PHOTOS OF BENJAMIN'S ๐Ÿ‘ WOUNDS

The initial photos were taken one week after his arrival (5/7/23) at the sanctuary, as I was very busy, stressed and fighting to save his life from the systemic inflammation and infection, which would have killed him before those wounds.
So, on the initial photos, he already had one week of treatment and Intensive care!
The original condition of the wounds was even worse and they had the smell of decay with some black necrotic tissue in some areas formed.

The latest photos were taken on 20th of August 2023, which is just over 6 weeks since he arrived at the sanctuary.
An amazing progress already but we have a long way ahead until his full recovery and rehabilitation.

A SUPERHUMAN BATTLE TO SAVE BENJAMIN ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ™

You probably noticed it has been a while since our last post.
Life could not be busier with all sanctuary residents and our endless extra duties of running a charity.
However, since 5th of July, I have been battling against all odds to save the life of Benjamin, a senior sheep that was attacked in Southbridge by a pack of stray dogs.
The owners told me that 3 of their sheep were killed and poor Benjamin was savaged but managed to survive this attack with serious injuries on both of his front legs.
Unfortunately, the owners felt that some stitches from the local vet and their typical broad spectrum antibiotics would sort out these serious injuries and took their time, allowing these injuries to become infected and create a systemic and well spread inflammation and infection, close to septicemia.

Once it became obvious to them that Benjamin had deteriorated and was close to death, I was asked to assist in the evening of July the 5th.

Benjamin was in severe pain and even touching his hooves was enough to make him shiver. I could tell from the smell of decay, condition of his wounds and very rigid, swollen abdomen that he had a well spread inflammation and was very close to death, most likely from pneumonia or pulmonary edema, as he had a very bad cough and lots of mucus.

I was even more horrified to hear that the owners were using salty water with lemon and vinegar (!) every time they were cleaning his wounds and even though I still have no date of the attack, I am sure it was at least for a period of 3 to 4 weeks prior to his arrival at the sanctuary. I understand that not everybody has a science degree or relevant experience in animal care and healing but it only requires common sense to realize that even a drop of lemon or vinegar on a scratch would send you screaming to high Heaven!

The above solution was highly acidic and it is definitely unacceptable for anyone to use on deep, open and infected wounds! I also assumed, as I never saw the original condition of the wounds after the dog attack, that this horrible solution alongside his urine that was draining and drenching on the wounds at least overnight, was responsible for the stripping of the skin on his right leg.

Needless to say, that this was an Intensive care case and a very long commitment that no human being would ever agree to take over. Especially during the worst and coldest months of the year and while I am still in recovery from my own serious personal muscle injury. Benjamin is not quite the size of a cat or little bird and probably closer to human weight!

I have been working around the clock and gave 1000% of myself to prevent the inevitable, not quite believing myself that I had enough time to detoxify his body and create the required alkaline environment in order to reverse his inflammation and get the required time he needed to heal his wounds, regenerate new healthy tissue, skin and wool.

Benjamin was love at first sight. An amazing kind, wise, patient soul that trusted me with his life and never even tried to kick or hurt me no matter how close I was to his painful body and serious injuries. He simply knew that I was HIS LAST AND ONLY HOPE! He honoured me with his love, confidence and trust.

He instinctively knew and felt the benefits of my homeopathic remedies, supplements, herbal teas, detoxification agents and we even developed a special communication during which he would let me know exactly how much he required for his body! I was amazed to see how he knew instinctively that my calcium bentonite clay drink in warm water or organic nettle or dandelion tea was his best alkaline and detoxification agent, which helped him to fight his acute inflammation and finally reverse his systemic infection. He would turn eagerly his head and lick every single drop from his lips. Once he felt stronger, he would dip his head in the large mug and sip the entire content on his own!

I watched the astonishing improvements on his overall health, healing and regeneration of his wounds.
He turned from an animal in severe pain and discomfort that was unable to accept anything solid or just some tiny blades of grass pushed inside his mouth to a calm, content and very relaxed sheep with increasing appetite.

Nearly 7 weeks since arrival, he eats like a healthy sheep and his wounds are healing. I have been able to move both legs for the last few weeks and he now has daily physiotherapy and massage on his whole body.
Hopefully, once the wounds heal fully, we will be able to work better on strengthening his muscles and assisting him to get back on his feet.

Still a long, unpredictable way ahead but one thing is certain. I will never give up on him because I know he is a fighter and wants to have a happy life on our sanctuary. Considering what he has been through, I think he deserves to experience a better life and lots of love and VIP treatment in our little paradise.

I am attaching some photos and will be posting more news and videos about his progress.
