A friendly reminder I am down in kapiti grooming this week
Any late cancellations or no shows will have to pay the full groom cost and potentially loose their spot with me permanently. I’m turning away potential new clients and loosing business. Which means loosing money and sometimes the trip isn’t financially viable.
Sorry to be a negative Nancy but that is how it is atm.

As a result of the devastating effects of Cyclone Gabrielle, many Hawke’s Bay homes, properties, farms and business have been left in ruin. Lives have been lost. Animals are still being found some alive. But a lot deceased.

Cash donations are rolling in for our 4 dog show families worst hit.

Hello everyone.

We are safe but have no power or cell reception. Power could be out for a week and who knows about cell reception.
I’m at the airport using wifi to contact family. And to post here so I won’t be able to respond.

Next week I am meant to be down in kapiti. At this stage I don’t know if this is happening. I will be in touch when and if I can.

I am down second week of school holidays for this rotation in kapiti.
If you haven’t got a booking or have forgotten your booking please contact me. I will make sure everyone has their day and time. I’ve just been sick with another nasty chest infection recently and have only just started to feel right hence I haven’t been in touch with anyone since my last visit

Then I come down to do the Xmas bookings which is 30th November through to the 2nd December

Due to rising gas prices and basically all my overheads (shampoo/clippers/servicing) involved in coming to kapiti for grooming all groom Prices will now go up $5 dollars. This will come into effect from July.

As you all know I’ll be in touch once babies and diva are settled to determine when I can in fact come down for the next lot of grooms.

Do you know what is involved with a typical small dog groom?

Time to make a booking
Checking in your dog and going over the groom
Putting your dog at ease before and during the groom
Nails trimmed
Pads clipped out
Two washes
Conditioner (optional)
Eye boogers cleaned out with tear-free shampoo
Ears checked (and cleaned if needed)
Blow dry
Brushed out
Fluffed up
Coat clipped
Scissored and thinning scissored to perfection
Face styled and adorable
Cuddles before and after (free of charge)
Rest and a drink of water while waiting to be picked up
Check out pup, report anything unusual and take payment

That is a LOT of steps for personal service for one of the most vulnerable members of your family.
Groomers typically choose this career as a passion and the price for that care is a drop in the bucket for what they deliver.

Value your groomer. Don't seek out the cheapest - seek out the professional who can help you with ways to save money between grooms such as a quick brushing lesson, advice on the right brushes for your pet, and discovering changes in your dog that may have developed between grooms.

Groomers have MANY stories of things they have found that turned out to be caught early and saved lives.

In April, the minimum wage increases again, and many groomers are earning only a little more than minimum... so please, respect them if your pet needs a small increase to keep up with wages and rising costs of quality products and ongoing training.
