Amberley SJ!

Gamble jumped super round his first SJ comp and popped round all the fill without batting an eyelid. Once again I was asked if he was a warmblood... nope! Seems to be a common theme 😂

An eventful start to the PL show season at Marlborough PL Show!

After leaving a day early to beat the weather warnings, we ended up stuck in a road closure for 5 hours, unable to take the horses off. Luckily the horses were very good - we managed to take the ramp down to give the horses some air, take off their boots & bandages (with a bit of climbing & shimmying) and give them some Dunstan Horsefeeds recovery mash.

All the horses were super despite the pouring rain and underwater arenas, and very luckily the showgrounds didn't flood with nearby rivers breaking their banks! So impressed with Gamble at his first PL show and Kiki & Ru stepping up a level 🥰🥰

Georgia's first competition in tails!! Georgia made a super Level 7 attempt having been thrown in the deep end with Ru being FEI graded. She rode the Int I & Gemma's YR MFS, and while there was plenty to work on (and would help if she had the right music), both Georgia & Ru had a ball!

Gemma & Ru also picked Champion Medium Tour in the NRM Spring Series

Eventing Canty Training Day - October 2024

Gamble was ⭐️ of the day, with a 71.3% and 1st on L1 and 66% for 2nd in B5 in his first go at a Lvl 2ish test. He also popped around the 65cm SJ.

Georgia did two lovely B5 tests on Kiki for 65% and 64% and had a ball doing two lvl 5ish tests on Ru - as they can’t compete at this level at dressage comps as Ru is graded higher.

Ranger jumped a lovely 80cm round for a green rail but didn’t appreciate the birds nesting by the dressage arena and Sachi had his first outing, which he coped really well with.

Canterbury Dressage Day - October 2024

Ru and Gemma competed in the Int A again, winning their test on 63.75% with a few little mistakes and some interesting 1x tempis in the ring (perfect in the warmup of course 😂). Gamble had his first comp back after having some time off, for a 64.8% in his first test and a dodgy first halt letting them down in the second.

Georgia stepped up to level 2 on Kiki, with some lovely movements getting 7.5s, but just needing some work to put the whole test together!

Super to get the horses out to the last EquiMatch training day.

Teddy jumped two good 80cm rounds, Ranger jumping a lovely clear 70cm and just tapping a rail in his 80cm, and Buster (owned by Kahn Wheeler) jumping two enthusiastic clear rounds at 70cm and 80cm after not being out for a few years.

Canterbury Dressage Day - September 2024

Georgia took over the ride on Kiki in preparation for her interschools champs week, winning both her Level 1 tests and coming 4th in her Level 2 test. The coolest young horse around!

Ru did his first proper Level 8 test, and despite the distraction of his girlfriend being ridden in a neighbouring arena and rather a lot of neighing out, won his test with 60.15%

Ranger is just getting better and better, picking up a 6th with 64%

So proud of Gemma and Georgia being selected into the NZ team for the PCIA Virtual Dressage Challenge 2024!

Georgia is competing in the USEF First Level test (NZ Level 2 equivalent) and Gemma is competing in the USEF Third Level test (NZ Level 5 equivalent)

Ru ran through his Lvl 8 musical freestyle, with massive improvements to our piaffe/passage work from last season for a 66.6% (despite some low marks for our overly enthusiastic extended canters 😂🙈 - but his love for being out never fails to make me smile)

Kiki made the step up to Lvl 3, unfortunately with a near-miss in the warmup leaving her a bit rattled in our first test, with a few breaks into canter in our trot work. However, she ran through her first Lvl 3 musical (and first musical freestyle full stop!) for a 71.8%, despite a couple of green mistakes. As someone who does their own music & floorplans, getting a 7.9 & 8 for our choreography and music is always pretty cool!

Ranger joined the dressage horses competing in the unregistered Lvl 1 classes, with huge improvements from Roydvale ODE last weekend to pick up a 64% in our second test

Still lots to work on and lots of strength to build, but so looking forward to the season!

Ruanuku R aka Ru is an 18yo Australian warmblood gelding by Regardez Moi out of Socialite (by Salute). Don't be put off by his age - he doesn't act it and loves to compete.

This season we won the National Dressage Young Rider of the Year at HOY and all three classes of CDI-Y at Dressage Nationals. We were selected onto the NZ team for the 2023 World Dressage Challenge which placed 1st in the world, riding at Int I. We also won the Int I class individually in NZ, and placed 4th=/5th in the world. He has had an excellent South Island season, taking out Champion at all but one premier league show, as well as taking out numerous series, including the Small Tour Zilco MFS Series, Super 5 Series and the AMS Series.

I had only competed to Level 2 before we bought him, where he took me through the levels to compete at Small Tour/Lvl 7 just four months later. I have had an incredible three seasons at Small Tour/Young Riders, with multiple scores over 73%. We have since both made the step up to GP in Jan, where we scored over 64%. He is extremely well schooled, with his tempi changes and his extended canter being his highlights, often getting 7.5s or higher.

He has also been highly competitive at lower levels, winning the NZPCA Dressage Senior section (Level 3) and a member of the winning Canterbury team at the NZPCA Dressage Champs, as well as winning the overall Level 3 Dressage section at the South Island Secondary School Champs. We also won the USDF Third level test (NZ Level 5 equivalent) at the Pony Club International Alliance Virtual Dressage Show by 5% against riders from 12 countries.

Recently my sister has competed in a few competitions on him at levels 1-5, where he looked after her very well.

He is happily ridden in a snaffle, loves to compete and doesn’t act his age. Brilliant to hack out with others. While we made the step up to GP together, we would prefer him to go to a home intending to compete up to Small Tour/Young Riders, as he does find piaffe/passage work difficult.

We have achieved everything I could possibly have dreamed of doing together and while I'd love to keep him, I'm turning my focus to producing my young horses and he deserves to be someone’s number one
