NEW SNIP ‘N’ CHIP CAMPAIGN! 🙌

We are excited to be launching a new Snip ‘n’ Chip campaign for cat owners in Nelson Tasman, Renwick, Blenheim, Marlborough, Kaikoura, and other surrounding areas!

From 19 July 2023, we are working with local participating vet clinics to offer this service to cat owners who are struggling with the cost of desexing and microchipping. Vouchers help those in need get their cat desexed and microchipped for $30.

PLEASE REMEMBER – a limited number of vouchers are available to help those who require financial assistance. Please, only get a voucher if you need one and intend to use it. In the past, we have noticed some vouchers were never used, or bookings were made with vet clinics and never attended 💔 When this happens, it prevents someone else from using the voucher who might really need it.

Bookings are now open, so head over to https://book.spcadesexing.nz/ to check if you are eligible, and to register for your Snip ‘n’ Chip voucher. If you know someone who needs help with the online system, you can register on their behalf. New Product - Wild Goat Shanks
This new wild chew is full of the smells of the wild and good nutritional value. The leg shank of the feral goat is covered with its oesophagus for extra substance. Then it is slowly air-dried overnight to lock in the goodness. They are between 10cm -15cm wide - so ideal for smaller dogs. We have plenty in stock so buy a bunch or add them to your pet food order.

At WildHQ we choose not to use artificial preservatives in our pet food. Instead we supply our meals FROZEN for these reasons:
• Bacterial microorganisms do not grow when the temperature is below −9.5°C – preventing food spoilage.
• Freezing is a natural form of preservation, so added preservatives aren't necessary.
• Frozen food doesn't require added sodium for preservation.
• Frozen foods are more nutritious because the frozen environment helps to retain vitamins & minerals otherwise lost for fresh foods stored at room temperature (after 2 days) or the fridge (after 5 days).
• Frozen foods stored continuously at -18ºC or below can be kept indefinitely.

SO, don't be put off by frozen food. When it's thawed slowly our meals still contains all the smells of wild nature, unaltered proteins, and all the nutrients, vitamins and minerals your pet needs.

Mike (Race Name 'Magic Mike') is a 9 year old ex-racing Purebred Greyhound. He was quite the champion in his day. Mike was from a litter of 8 and came across from Australia with his sister to race out of Christchurch. Here are 5 great reasons to use our air-dried Wild Venison Liver Treats to train your dog. Shared with us by one of our directors, Pete Kinane, who was a police dog handler for 16 years - he know's a trick or two about training treats!
1. USER FRIENDLY. Clean, dry, no mess and breaks into small pieces.
2. HIGH VALUE TREAT. This training treat is a very special reward. Dogs love it because of the great wild smell and taste. So it knows that when it performs correctly it will be rewarded with a treat it loves.
3. LEAN & HEALTHY. This is best used as just a treat - not a meal, so your dog wont get full. Its very low in fat and lean. Small pieces will keep your dog performing to earn more.
4. FOOD TRAINING METHOD. Using food is a very good method for teaching your dog tracking. This treat is excellent for that because its hard to see (it's dark and lies flat), and it has a strong distinctive smell. So your dog has to use its nose to track the next reward instead of its eyes!

NO PRESERVATIVES IN WILDHQ.
We feel very strongly against using preservatives in dog food. Doing so can lead to poor digestion and in turn, have several harmful health effects including skin and coat issues, irregular bowel movements, depression, and more. Three preservatives that are often used in pet food and should be avoided include: BHA - Butylated hydroxyanisole, BHT (butylated hydroxytoluene), Ethoxyquin, Nitrates/Nitrites.
Propyl Gallate, Carrageenan, MSG, Sodium Hexametaphosphate (Salt).
At WildHQ we have only natural preservatives in our food such as rosemary extract and tocopherols. Our meals are frozen, and were made fresh, so the food is good if refrigerated for 7 days after opening.

LEST WE FORGET. Brave dogs in wartime.
Caesar the bulldog, wearing his official collar (A Company, 4 Battalion, New Zealand Rifle Brigade) led the grand parade down Auckland's Queen Street before the Rifle Brigade left New Zealand for the First World War. He was a trained Red Cross dog and helped rescue wounded troops during the Battle of the Somme in 1916. Dogs were especially useful for helping stretcher-bearers find wounded soldiers in no-man's-land at night.
Caesar was killed in action. He is New Zealand’s first recipient of the Blue Cross Medal, an award for bravery, given posthumously on 27 February 2019 at the National Army Museum, Waiouru. His collar is now held at the Auckland War Memorial Museum.

A PICTURE SAYS A 1000 WORDS.
This is ZsiZsi, WildHQ's beautiful model from our brand video. This image captured her perfectly – drooling and waiting anxiously for the fresh Wild Venison Steak to be served. She virtually inhaled it before it reached the floor! She was such a great dog, having to repeat shoots over and over. She really earned the meals and snacks through two long photoshoot days. And in return they gave her all the energy she needed to keep running. Thanks ZsiZsi and trainer Lizzie.
