PinOaks Proud Moment 💫

Lots of updates flooding through today after the weekend which is so awesome to see and definitely makes me happy - as sometimes it’s not such a rewarding job on social media, so hoping this brightens things up for people.

Hear from Archie’s new owners below:

“Archie having some cranial work done. Mia is smitten. We haven't ridden him yet, just doing ground work and taking him for walks up the road in hand.
He is confused with long grass and at the moment only eats the short stuff lol.
Also hates the rain, what a sooky bubba 🤣. He runs to get his cover on and kicks out when it's heavy letting us know we need to change it - might have to build him a stable 🤣.
I have started him on ulcersheild and we are doing lots of body work so he's his best self before we kick off his training.
Archie loves Mia and calls out to her everytime he sees her - it's very cute ♥️”

Well done to Lara & Last Letter who competed over the weekend at a barrel racing competition as well and came away with 1st Green Rider and 2nd Division Junior Rider.

Fantastic results as Lara has not long converted to western and you and Geri and making waves already.

Here’s an update just in from La Superba who competed over the weekend in barrel racing. Hear from her owner below.

“Hey Lisa,

I just wanted to give you an update on Lucy or Dallas as we now call her, yesterday we competed at our local barrel racing finals and she placed first in the futurity section for horses aged 4-6 years winning a sash and buckle as well as qualifying for the South Island champs in march! She also got 3rd overall in her time division. She’s the best little horse and everyone loves her for how easygoing and lovely she is. Thank you so much for homing her to me ❤️ “

Thinking of everyone in the region today. We’ve got some terrible winds at the moment. The worst winds I remember in a number of years. Lots of trees down, and not great for the fires that are currently burning around Canterbury - well done to all the firefighters who are working around the clock to get them under control.

I’ve got three newbies to test drive after the farrier has seen to them, but we might try wait for a break in the weather. Would love to find them all homes before Christmas 🎄

Hetti's vet report passed on from her racing connections to me in regards to the small lump on her spine. Has been assessed many times throughout her racing career, most recently the day before she arrived. You are most welcome to have your own vet check done at your cost if you wish.

Something to think about coming into the Summer months ☀️

Prepare your lifestyle or small block for a hot, dry summer. ☀

The summer prolonged dry spells may cause drought, heat stress in horses and an increased risk of wildfires.

You can prepare by making a dry-weather plan for your horses. Remember you are responsible for their welfare under the Animal Welfare Act.

Pre-Summer Checklist
• Check water supply and quality
• Provide shade
• Make a feed plan
• Buy extra feed if needed
• Consider animal numbers
• Create a fire evacuation plan

We wave goodbye to Tilly this evening who’s heading off to returning clients and will be given time and make an all rounder at her new home.

Her coats changed so much since she arrived, changed to a lovely summer coat and she’s let down so nicely. Very happy with how she looks on departure ❤️

F R E E to a competent knowledgeable home 💕

With lots coming through the gates, and Tilly having ticked everything off with us and been on numerous outings it's time she finds her next human. The market seems very slow at the moment, with not many/if any enquiries either for Tilly - and we'd love to get her into her new home before Christmas.

Has had her feet done twice since she arrived here - great for the farrier. Last new set put on earlier this week.

Dental done while here, wolf teeth removed, and a tetanus booster given.

Videos and photos in her album, she won't just go to anyone, and references will be needed. If you think you want something to tick away with quietly then get in touch.

An update just in from Gary’s owners ✨ They attended a local SJ training night last night. How well are they going. Updates always make me happy to see! Gary has now been with 15yo Danni for 7 months and it’s great to see them forming a bond and getting out and about together ❤️ Blackadder Racing

Here’s Jades test drive from a couple weeks ago. Turns out the video didn’t upload to the album oops! 🙊 Jade floated here on a straight load, loaded, travelled well, and worked out the unloading off backwards. She was good to brush and gear up in a new place, and then get on. Jade wasn’t spooky, had a good look around at her new surroundings and then got on with her job. Jade found it hard to keep a consistent contact in smaller circles as it’s all a bit different to being a race horse, but with more consistent work in this department she will strengthen up. A nice soft mouth, and wasn’t silly nor super reactive. We couldn’t have asked much more from her!

Catch up from last week of Sooty’s solo outing up the drive. He enjoyed having a lot to look at, and his mate was screeching out in the yard for him too but he wasn’t worried about napping back.

Another catch up video being added to Violets album although she has departed and settled beautifully in her new home 🏡 Solo outing up the drive, past the tractors etc, and took everything in his stride

Here’s Archie last week going for a solo outing up the drive. He was good to head away from his mates and the yard and wasn’t worried about being on his lonesome.

On the float and off the float for Tilly today ✔️ She went on an outing to the local arena, such a good girl on the straight loading float.

Another outing for Cannon today to do a wee bit more jumping. He is very cool. Much more relaxed coming back into work now (did have the long weekend off). Someone will have fun producing this one - he’s done everything with us, not sure what else we can tick off but yell out if you’re interested and want to see something specific! ❤️

Playing catch up with Violet as well. Here is her outing from last week and test drive rolled into one. She has now been re-homed to a returning customer after a couple viewings she just loved her. We’ve been ticking away with Violet all last week, I’m just really behind on the uploading online stuff! Here she is on her outing to the local arena. She travelled well, coped great in the 28c heat, stood in the yards and was the last one to work. Wasn’t worried about horses coming and going. Being so hot we just did a W,T,C each rein, and popped over a little fence. She isn’t a kick along, but sensible and got nice basics installed.
