I've got this cute Miniature Foxy - Freddie, on my drawing board at the moment. She is so cute, still looks like a puppy but she's all grown up. My last drawing before a take a 3 week break.

Stepping back a couple of years when I did this drawing of a horse's eye. This drawing won me a $500 prize at an art exhibition and also sold! I'm always looking for images that just inspire me, and once I find one, I become a bit obsessed with needing to draw it!!!

I'm a bit busy with commissions, so I thought I would share this little cutie I did last year. Another one in my Harvest Mouse series. He sold pretty quickly, actually all of them have sold quickly. So there will be more to come of these little fellows!

I've done quite a bit, but I still have so much to do! The darker side of her face is going to take a while. So, I'm putting her aside to draw a commission of a lovely dog that is a birthday present in Australia.

Just starting on the darker side of of her face. It's A3 size, so lots of lovely details. Did you know that there are only about 300 of these beautiful cats left in the wild? I would like to donate a print of this drawing to help raise money to save these incredible creatures.

Here's my panel at the Kaiapoi Art Expo! I sold quite a few on opening night and also won a prize, so I'm pretty happy. Open today to the public starting at 10am on Saturday and Sunday - this weekend!

Starting to take shape now. So many layers. A lot of people don't realize how time consuming coloured pencils are. Each black stripe isn't just black, it's grey, indigo blue, then black then another layer of black to finesse the fur. Hence you need to love what you are drawing!!

So it begins...always with the eyes. I'm going to love every minute of this. Sometimes, I just need to take a break from my wonderful commissions and draw wildlife. This is a Sumatran tiger (I know another one! 🤣) this time, face on looking right at you.

For those that don't know, I used to work at Auckland Zoo as a zoo keeper, and one of the animals I had the privilege to care for were Sumatran tigers. So, of course, I'm obsessed! Once you see one up close, that's it they have your heart forever.

When I was asked to draw a blue wren I was over the moon. I spent 20 years in Perth and these little guys are everywhere in the Southern regions. They are just stunning little fellows and I have spent many hours mesmerized by their colours and beauty. Also quite poignant for me, as my Mum was quite often called Jen Wren, so I was thinking about her a lot when drawing him, they are her favorite bird. 💙🩵

So pleased and relieved to hear that these three drawings have made it safely to the UK! The tiger drawing, called "Courage and Beauty" is already framed, so I was a bit concerned sending something with glass to the other side of the world.

However, Kirsty from Cameo Picture framers told me about a packaging company called Pack and Send. They were amazing and packaged them all safely with strong cardboard, bubble wrap etc. After a long journey with FedEx, almost two weeks - they have arrived safely!! So happy and so is my lovely customer 💜 Always learning.
