TAUPO DOG TRAINING CLUB is an associated All Breeds Society of the New Zealand Kennel Club, and approved to conduct Championship Shows in Obedience and Agility. You don’t have to be competitive, just to have a love of dogs and be prepared to put in the time for practice. The Objects Of The Club Are:
To help local owners train their dogs in basic obedience. To promote the

sport of dog training by conducting classes at different levels within the different codes, i.e. Any dog? YES. – All breeds are welcome from 5 months of age. (Puppy classes are held for puppies aged 12 weeks to 5 months subject to availability of instructors.) Handlers who graduate from Basics are then eligible to further their training in Competition Obedience, Canine Good Citizen, Rally-O and Working Trials, and once dogs reach 12 months of age can begin Foundation Agility. What Will The Dog Be Taught? Acceptable behavior with other dogs and people. To walk at heel on lead. To come when called. To stay in a sit or down position on command. Who Trains The Dog? You do, within class and at least five times a week between classes. You need only to train for a few minutes each time but it must be regular. If you are not prepared to do this then you won’t get the results.

Hi Folks,
Well just like that Term 4 training is done and dusted. Thanks to all who came along to graduation and pizza last night (Tuesday 10 December) it was lovely to catch up with you all. Hope you all enjoyed the demos of the different options the Club offers and we look forward to seeing you all back in mid February 2025 for Term 1.
In respect to that please get your expressions of interest into our treasurer at [email protected] as to which class you would like to attend, those being as follows:
Puppy class
Basic Skills (formerly Level One) - once you have graduated from these we offer:
CGC Foundation through to Gold
Rally-O
Scentwork
Agility (for dogs 12 months and over)
Competition Obedience
And whether you are already a member, interested in becoming a member or just prefer to do a Term as and when suits.
Our instructors are looking forward to going on this awesome journey with you.

We all had a lovely time today starting with a walk around Two Mile Bay then back to the Sailing Club for a drink and pizza.
The dogs were beautifully behaved and kept a close eye on those pizza crusts.

Thanks to Vicky Graham for showing us some Nose work.
If anyone is keen I joining us, we are doing a walk at 12o'clock from the 2 mile sailing club car park then heading to Dog n Grog at 2 Mile Sailing Club on Saturday 7th Dec.
Have a Pawsome Xmas and New Year. Keep watching for a notice on Facebook mid January for our new Term classes and starting dates.

Our members love town walks for many reasons and we proudly take them around the township streets which are at times quiet, others busy.
These walks give the dogs and their owners the confidence to be out and about in our community.
As instructors, we are always proud of our members and their dogs showing what responsible dog ownership is all about in our town.
Here we have Cohen and Neo nicely settled together during tonight's walk.

Good luck to all Taupo Club members going for their CGC Assessment this weekend.
A big thank you to our assessors Vicky and Howard who who have kindly given up their time to do this
A big SHOUTOUT as well to all the other people who have volunteered their time to ensure the Assessments, run over two days, goes ahead and runs smoothly.
We cannot thank volunteers enough and without these people clubs wouldn't be able to hold these events. Whether an instructor, an assessor and/or a judge we are very grateful for what you do and without your input we would not be a club.

Hi there all, Well another very successful Taupo Obedience show done and dusted. Shout out to our awesome sponsor Impact4dogs you were amazing and to Quality Presentations for our beautiful ribbons. Huge thanks to the Taupo team without who we wouldn't have a show, Bill and Vicki M, Gotti and Elizabeth, Vicky G, Raewyn, Howard and Kim, Liz W, Pauline, Carol, Richard, hopefully I remembered everyone. Thanks also to our wonderful Judges and Stewards and our competitors and everyone else who pitched in for us, without you all we couldn't have done it. It was also to have our stallholders there too, Tuggilicious Tugs, Raw&More and our amazing sponsor Impact4dogs. Can you help! TDTC has a busy few weeks and many hands make light work - even 1 hour can be a big help, and you might learn something new! Sat 2nd Nov - Canine Good Citizen - mock assessment. Sat 9th/Sun 10th Nov - Obedience Show Sat 16th/Sun 17th Nov - Canine Good Citizen testing days. Please talk with your instructor or email [email protected]

Just a reminder that the grounds are closed from Thursday till late Sunday. 19-22 September 2024 grounds used for parking for NZ Junior Rugby Festival.
