It's that time of the year again where bookings are coming in and I review my list of charges. As everyone will know fuel prices have gone up and with that bumps up the cost of literally everything. I am trying to absorb what I can, but some prices have had to increase (sorry guys). As usual I will not charge travel within a 40km radius from my house. Anything outside of the 40km radius (basically anywhere North of Takanini, East of SH1 and South of the Waikato river) may be charged for extra travel at the IRD rate of 83c per km, UNLESS you are a group (3+ horses) booking within the Auckland area. I always try to group work in suburbs to try and absorb travel fees or at the least make them very minimal.
Right, with that said and out the way, I'm looking forward to catching up and seeing you all again soon!

My post yesterday got a huge response! Thanks everyone!
What came up a lot was "Pony Nannying". I've coined up this term myself.. for the job of overseeing kids riding their ponies after school hours when mum or dad can't be there.
If this is you and you have a pony in the paddock and a keen child but can't make the time to supervise them after school, then I can help! This has basically been my job for the last 7 years with my own daughter after school each day. She's 12 now so fairly self sufficient and doesn't need my help much anymore. If your child/ren goes to school between Pukekohe and Waiuku I can even pick them up for you (I have a clean, full licence and safe, legal and reliable vehicles).
Pony Club starts soon and the season is around the corner so give me a shout if you need my help. I charge $60 an afternoon which is for two hours of help and can include school pick up.

Since coming home to Auckland I've found myself with some spare time on my hands of late. This got me thinking, what can I do to help out people who don't have spare time....
So, if you are:
Time poor.....
Can't make those farrier, horse dentist or vet appointments... Are stuck at work on a hot day and cringing because your horse is at home with a winter weight rug on because it was miserable last night...Want to box your horse for diet, injury, cleanliness, at your property but just don't have the time to bring them in or muck them out... Haven't got time to do that quick before (or after) work feed and check today because traffic.... Really need your horses lunged to bring them back into work for spring but haven't found the time yet ..
Need the broodies checked more often they are due to foal soon.... Are taking a much needed winter holiday and need someone to sort the farm animals while you're away... Need someone to supervise the kids with their ponies and give them a hand after school...Really need to have a jump but don't have anyone to supervise or pick up poles...
Are a beginner-intermediate rider looking for some riding lessons or have a child needing lessons or help from the ground... Want to go to an event but don't have transport...

Any of the above or whatever you need, I can help!
If you just don't have time to get things done then give me a call! I'm free during the day and have 30 years experience with horses in all different industries. Competitive rates - I wouldn't charge what I wouldn't pay myself.

I am also still available for clipping and general grooming work in the Franklin area.

MUZZLE AND EAR CLIPPING REMINDER

ESNZ and the RAS have prohibited the clipping / trimming of muzzles and insides of ears .
More can be found on the RAS and ESNZ websites regarding this, with diagrams of what is acceptable with ear clipping. (Outside only).

Please be aware that horses with clipped muzzles and inner ears, may be eliminated from ESNZ / RAS shows this season and will be turned away from measuring stands.

Aucklander's I'll be up for clipping over duck shooting opening weekend. That's May the 6/7/8th. Get in touch if you need your horses done.
