Cory’s will regularly swim quickly to the surface for a gulp of air. The fish swallows the air, which blood vessels in the hind gut extract oxygen from; it is then expelled through the vent the next time the fish breaks the surface for another gulp of air.

The Mystery Snail can store air in its shell and slowly release it as they descend. As they float to the bottom, the snail can control its speed and almost 'put on the brakes' before touching down.

The Panda Corydora originates from the cold blackwaters that are influenced by the Andes mountain range. The ideal water temperature for this species is much lower than the typical tropical fish. The Pandas ideal temperature is between 20-25 degrees celsius.

Did you know……
Most albino cory catfish are selectively bred from the bronze cory. Albino corydoras do not occur naturally in the wild, they have been bred exclusively for the commercial ornamental fish trade. Most catfish are nocturnal, but the albino corydoras is most active during the day.

Why should your aquarium have a sponge filter???

Sponge filters are important additions to fish tanks. A sponge filter works by forcing air into the center cavity creating suction drawing water through the sponge and bubbles escape. The surface area of the sponge catches particles, and the beneficial bacteria complete the nitrogen cycle.

The Benefits of an Aquarium Sponge Filter:
* The sponge protects small fish and fry from being pulled into the filter.
* The biological filtration works even with the loss of power; the nitrogen cycle
continues as aquarium sponge filters keep good bacteria.
* Draws water from lower parts of the tank to increase water surface area and
gas exchange of CO2 for O2.
* Using an existing aquarium sponge filter will speed up the cycling of a new tank
by adding beneficial bacteria.
