To my bird/wildlife lovers
Just a reminder that we are still active on this page to help out with rescues, just not physically taking birds at this time. However we do promote best advice over phone call or text to help your rescue, we are still referring to sunnyhills in Hamilton but if it’s not possible to get there we are here to help you in the best ways possible over call or text so that your birdie can improve- if it’s got injury or has been brought in by a cat I will advise you to take it to a vet ASAP, they are free of charge, but.. if you’ve found it on the ground etc, feel free to send a message direct and I can give you the best of my advice, and or refer you to other rescues. we are here to guide you directly in the best way possible so that the little bird can survive and have another shot at life 🙂🤍

We are very saddened to announce that our bird rescue journey will be coming to a pause for quite some time- I have decided to start my life which is consisting of leaving the nest. I will be leaving Kelsie Morgan from Sunnyhills Bird Rescue in charge of our side of rescues, Please message Kelsie via messenger at Sunnyhills Bird Rescue if you have an injured or abandoned bird.

For those of you who find baby birds but aren’t able to bring them to somebody straight away, I have made a video on how to force feed a baby bird. It’s hard to see but I hold down the tongue with the tip of my nail to stop aspiration etc, this can work with tweezers also. Make sure to feed them soggy cat food; nothing else ♥️

This baby is the first baby of the season on my bird rescue page, his name is blue and is so lucky to have been found by a boy who attends Cambridge middle school, he picked this one up off the middle of the road, took his fleece off on this cold morning to keep this pigeon warm. He had kept being told to put it back under a tree by teachers and his friends, but he was very reluctant and for being so caring with this baby he was unfortunately sent home with the pigeon, I’m super proud that he did not give up this baby because this baby was not ready to leave the nest due to pin feathers underneath the wing, which means it had fallen from its nest somehow. So I give many thanks to this boy for caring so much for a feathered friend and not leaving it to die- you saved a birds life and kept it with you even when other people were doubting you. It’s so amazing to know that there are people out there who care about wildlife ! ♥️♥️

Introducing sunny, a female canary who was brought to us 2 days ago, she has part of her beak missing as it keeps crumbling and is quite weak, in an attempt to try and fix the situation, we will keep her on her conditioning food whilst also administering small bits of fruits and vegetables. Welcome to the family flock sunny! 💛💛

Heyy all, *please feel free to share this post around to spread awareness*
This adult pigeon came to me a couple of weeks back, however the person had said that this pigeon was having trouble with flight etc, I thought nothing of it and thought perhaps it was a defect. A couple of days ago I had seen very sticky white tape and that is when I learnt that this tape is to be put on both wings so that the bird is unable to fly from predators or from shooting. If you see this tape on a wild bird, please catch it and bring it to your nearest bird rescues, this bird was so lucky to be brought to me to have this tape removed! Even though it is a pest- it has every right to live!

Today we had released our last duckling of the season- daisy was brought to us with her sibling after their mother was hit by a car, her sibling had some complications with growth and I couldn’t get him to grow at the same rate as her, unfortunately he passed away. 4 weeks later and here is healthy peckin duck daisy on her way to a brand new life! ♥️♥️

Ever since this girl came to me and went through a whole 4 month recovery she has grown a massive bond with me as a hoomum. She loves the nighttime snuggles before bed and I cannot eat my dinner alone if she is around, she constantly begs. I don’t think I could ever cope without her, she is one of my babies! 💕
