This giving Tuesday Companion Animals NZ are asking for donations to support desexing and microchipping funds, which go to shelters in need around the country. This last financial year alone, CANZ provided $180,000 in grants to support desexing and microchipping for animals in need. But thatโ€™s not allโ€”every pet helped with these grants is also registered on the New Zealand Companion Animal Register.

As a professional certified dog trainer, I prioritize continuously learning.

This week I finished the Karen Pryor Click to Calm online course. I started this one back in April, 7 months ago!

This course has given me some amazing extra tools to help my clients with dogs that are either reactive or mildly aggressive. I have already been using some of these skills to help my clients.

My main motivation is to improve my clients and their dogs lifes. And this course gives me some awesome extra resources to continue to do that, with up to date, force free, positive methods.๐Ÿคฉ

Bringing a new puppy into your home is exciting and rewarding. These playful companions bring so much joy but need careful nurturing to grow into confident and independent dogs. One of the biggest challenges many new puppy parents face is separation anxiety, which can lead to behavioural problems if...

The dominance theory is very outdated. But there are still many trainers out there that will use these methods. They might include things like the alpha roll, scruffing, forcing your dog to wait while you walk through doors first, eating before them and staring at them until they break eye contact first.
These things should be avoided there are much kinder ways to train your fury friend!
