*** STATEMENT on the July, 2024, DUNEDIN PET EXPO.***
The Mouse House were invited and accepted invitation to attend the Pet Expo being run at Forester Park Dunedin in July. We have never attended a Pet Expo in the South Island and were looking forward to bringing our beautiful fancy mice and fancy rats with us along with our pet food, custom caging and new product lines. We are passionate about educating the public about rodent ownership and care. We are equally passionate about preservation breeding and guardianship of the Fancy Rat and Fancy Mouse genetics/genepool in Aotearoa.
To be clear we had no prior association with the organisers of the Dunedin Expo, and were not involved in running or organising the event. We were booked to attend as exhibitors in the same way we are booked to attend Pet Expo in AUCKLAND this September. IF YOU ARE IN AUCKLAND, please make sure you come along and see for yourself, come and meet us!
As it transpired, we had to pull out of attendance in Dunedin in the days leading up to the event due to our Agent developing Covid19.
It is probably just as well given the disturbing reports we heard back first hand from people who attended. It now appears authorities are investigating alleged animal welfare concerns due to public feedback. An investigation is warranted and we support this action.
Every Agent and breeder who works with us in New Zealand strives for best practice in animal management and ownership. We understand and adhere to the Animal Welfare Act in New Zealand. In all our practices and policies strive for excellence.
For people seeking pets, we have mice and rats available to approved homes in the South Island and welcome interest in what we do and how we go about sharing our love for rats and mice as exceptional pets for kiwi families.
Any queries on this matter as it related to our animals, interested parties are very welcome to contact us direc
