We recently caught up with Xena on Whenua Hou and are very happy to see that she's looking good and that her stump is slowly toughening up.

Shortly after fledging last year, Xena was found hanging from one foot which she'd caught in the fork of a tree. It was touch and go for a while but this feisty girl pulled through and has battled through a long recovery with help from The Wildlife Hospital - Dunedin and Orokonui Ecosanctuary. She's been back on the island for a few months now and is doing well without any human assistance at all!
