All About Fencing New Zealand

We are here to promote the New Zealand Fencing Industry in interesting, interactive formats.

Fencing dates back to the early settlers arriving in New Zealand back in the 1800’s where they needed to divide the land into smaller areas to contain animals and crops. Fencing techniques varied depending on the area and available resources, from stone/earth walls in the South Island, to post & rail in the North Island. It was the invention of no.8 wire fencing that really changed the game and by 1878 77% of New Zealand’s fenced areas were enclosed with wire.

New Zealand is subject to variable weather conditions with a high exposure to the coast in many areas and features a natural landscape that varies drastically from region to region. This coupled with our grass fed grassing systems has created a intensive fencing industry with a continuous drive for world leading innovation. All About Fencing NZ willingly promotes the New Zealand fencing industry and showcases the techniques and innovation taking place “down under”.
