Most of our fostering has been transferred over to Fur Paws Sake NZ, an amazing rescue who also does dog rescue. If you’re looking for a new best friend please head over there for a like! We are still rescuing, just in collaboration with our awesome mates.

In saying that, those who have any donations or supplies can reach out to fur paws sake on FB or [email protected], donations of any kind are always welcome, especially for 2 new babies in care let down really badly by people.

COCO & SNOW

Female (Coco) & male
12 weeks old
Fostered in Mangere
Desexed, chipped, regoed, first vax, parasite treated

Coco and Snow were scooped by a rescue trapper and have been given a chance at the pet life. Without this lovely ladies intervention their fate would be struggle city.

Coco is an absolute delight. She is sweet, loving, playful and loves to explore. She is very vocal if she finds herself away from her brother.
Coco is very food oriented! She loves her wet food and tube treat and would run around you for it.

Snow has been given many nicknames, fluffball, snowball, marshmallow due to his lovely soft fluffy coat. He is as playful as his sister Coco.
Snow cries out if his sister Coco goes exploring and loves being cared for by her. If not playing and wrestling you would find them both curled up together. Snow loves playing with his toys and enjoys his wet food and tube treats and would come when called to eat.

Please message us to meet these babies. Adequate completion of an adoptikn applicstikn form applies and an adoption fee. We would prefer the sibs to be adopted together and there is a discount for those who take both babie.

(Coco and Snow’s amazing rescue trapper and fosterer continues to desex their wider family with support from thr community cat coalition)

Spey aborts. The desex of cats who are already pregnant. The termination of unborn kittens.

We're going to post about it because others wont.

It's not a nice or lovely topic, it's not talked about because the public would be shocked and rescues would lose followers. We are a rescue that does TNR - we don't just take in lovely fluffy babies, we desex unfriendly strays and tame spicies. Most of the cats and kittens posted up here are fostered by the community members directly affected by their neighbours not desexing. We do it all.

We have to tell people about it so they know that this is one of the consequences of not desexing. We have to tell people so they know they don't have to let their cat give birth.

In fact, rescues often post videos glorifying and romanticising mum cats and fresh kittens, born in their care. This is wildly irresponsible, what will the public think? It's not that big a deal to let their cat have a litter - looks lovely?

It is unacceptable in 2024 for rescues to be allowing cats to be giving birth in rescue care. Rescues are making choices based on emotion rather than the ultimate goal of reducing suffering of uncared for cats. Every kitten born willingly under rescue takes a foster spot and adoption away from one already born on the street.

Aotearoa has a huge cat overpopulation issue and we have to be the ones to make those hard choices. There are not enough resources in rescue to support all these kittens and cats. Lucky Kitties knows that the best way to stop over population is desex, and unfortunately this means the desex of pregnant cats. By the time we trap these cats or they are surrendered to us they are in the late stages of pregnancy sometimes too.

We are grateful to work alongside community minded vets who understand the overpopulation issue and perform these humane surgeries. We choose to work alongside rescues and trappers who are making these hard choices with us.

It's not just our resources and time and energy going into rescue, it's these choices too. There will be people unfollow us for this post stating: We do spey aborts and we need you to know this is a necessary and vital part of rescue, rescues allowing kittens to be born in their care when entirely avoidable is unacceptable.

Some people will say we are being divisive by making the public uncomfortable and being clear on unacceptable rescue practice - that's fine - we need to have our standards for best practice and want the public to know the realities of not desexing.

At least those people unfollowing us have been informed about a part of rescue not talked about.

ADOPTED

TEENY

Female
14 weeks
Fostered in Avondale
Desexed, 1st vax, chipped, regoed, parasite treated

Bottle baby teeny is the last of her cohort and her pre adoption has fallen through! She is called teeny because she’s… teeny tiny! Nothing wrong with her, just a compact girl.

She’s a people plus kinda girl. Teeny loves attention and being near people, on people, talking to people, looking at people, being pet by people, sitting on people, climbing people - you get the point. Since her bestie was adopted she’s been even worse about it.

To meet Teeny flick us a message. Please note sufficient completion of an adoption application form applies and an adoption fee.

MISSY

Female
13 weeks
Fostered in Avondale
Desexed, chipped, registered, parasite treated, first vax

Missy is a bottle baby, hand raised by people until weaned. She came from Onehunga where the stray cat population has exploded again in summer. Missy recently dropped weight due to a mystery gastro bug but is back to her normal self and ready to go!

She is needy, smoochy, cuddly and loving. Missy loves people and would be fine with calm children. She is growing her voice and starting to become very pushy for pats!

To meet Missy please message us. Please note adequate completion of an adoption form and an adoption fee applies.
