Today’s little story about Dexter – a shy little boy. When he first come to me, he was like, majorly shy and a bit sneaky. His eyes were all cautious, ready to bolt at any moment. So, instead of going straight for the face pats, I started with some gentle chest taps. Then, we had a little chat to make him feel less jittery before I lift him up onto the grooming table.

Guess what? He didn't try any crazy table acrobatics! It was like the start of something beautiful, a tiny warm fuzz in my heart. Everything was going smoothly, until I pulled out the clippers for his legs. He was clearly giving those electric clippers some serious side-eye, but luckily, he let me do my scissor magic on his legs without a fuss. Another heartwarming moment – he trusted my scissors!

Then, when it came to trimming his nails, he got all jumpy and he tuck his legs away like a sleeping camel. Totally normal though. Loads of dogs aren't fans of the nail trimming. Usually, when I approach with the nail clippers, most dogs either give me a quiet warning or attempt a great escape from the table, sometimes needing a second person to help with the nail job. But not our little boy Dexter! Although he hates it but there is no warnings, no wild jumps. He just drooped those big ears, gazed up at me with those gentle puppy eyes, and nudged his chin up, kinda like he was politely saying, 'Could you maybe not clip my nails?' Then, he'd delicately tuck his feet away – but never make a run for it!

Oh, Dexter, it's seriously hard not to fall in love. Soon enough, I figured out a little trick. As long as I gently flipped his paws, pretending it was just a light brushing with a soft brush on his paw pads, and swiftly clipped those long nails, this teeny fib might only get me one nail at a time, but end up I managed the colossal nail-clipping mission without needing another person!

Every dog is different, with their own unique personalities and quirks, just like us humans. But they're not out to deceive; they lay bare their trust and vulnerabilities. That's why I love them, and I aim to send every dog that comes into my studio off home looking happy and fabulous.

Look at our beautiful star of the Valley-----Oscar! He was so gentle and so cuddly while he was with me for his first groom. He was also very friendly and patient. Even though the other two little dogs were standing behind the glass door, staring at him intently, he didn't even bark at them.

This breed is also known as the Chinese Royal Hairless dog and is one of the few hairless dog breeds in the world. Chinese Crested dogs are very clean, non-shedding, gentle in nature, and enjoy being close to people. They make wonderful companion dogs. They form strong bonds with their owners and are highly dependent on them, making them great companions for children. One distinctive feature of the Chinese Crested dog is the presence of sweat glands, which allows them to regulate body temperature by perspiring, unlike long-haired dogs that rely on panting to cool down. Their body temperature is 2.2℃ higher than that of humans, and they have the ability to self-regulate their body temperature, which gives them strong adaptability to hot and cold environments. Their body temperature immediately rises after eating. Chinese Crested dogs also have the ability to grab things with their front paws, displaying a clever and amusing behavior similar to humans using their hands to grasp objects.

It was an absolute joy to groom Saffy, the sweet girl who displayed the finest qualities of a Shih Tzu, she exuded a sense of calmness and intelligence. From trimming her nails to giving her a haircut, she placed 100% trust in me, making the grooming process incredibly smooth and effortless.

I specialize in scissor grooming and gained my skills through a year long full time training course at a professional dog grooming school in 2018; I gained dog groomer certificate level C then level B in CHINA ANIMAL AGRICULTURE ASSOCIATION and CHINA GROOMING ASSOCIATION also a grade B certified groomer at BARKLEIGH AMERICA after my training.
