🐱💙Meet Chandler💙🐱

After being missing for a few days, Chandler’s owners noticed his tail was completely limp. A vet visit confirmed that his tail had likely been run over, resulting in a condition called tail pull injury. The vet was hopeful that feeling would return, but after a few months, it didn’t. 😿

Chandler’s owners brought him to Pukekohe to see Dr. Paul, who determined that the best option was to amputate the tail. It was getting in the way when he toileted, and cats with non-functional tails can become frustrated and may start chewing at them. To prevent that, Chandler was admitted for surgery. 🐾

The operation was a success! Now the tailless Chandler is back to his regular self with no issues. Please stay away from those cars Chandler! 🚗🐾

No More Cone of Shame ...

Cool Collars was started in 2012 when I (Victoria) asked my Dad (Victor) if he could create a soft option of the plastic ‘head cone’ for my feline patients.

Victor came up with the first version of a soft recovery collar, and we tried it out on some cats at the clinic. We found that the cats accepted the soft collar quickly, and were able to comfortably eat and sleep with the collar on, but still unable to access their surgical site.

Soon word spread in Christchurch about these soft and non-traumatising head collars for cats, as well as small dogs, and we are now selling CoolCollars to clinics all over NZ.

As well as being useful and comfortable, it is great to see clients smile during a potentially stressful time when they see their pets looking cute with their CoolCollar on.
