Land Rover Horse of the Year was a huge week, 6 days of competition with a team of 5 horses was busy enough!
Thanks PJ Mackintosh for all of your help.

Johanna had the goal of riding in the Young Rider final on Campari and Lady Rider on Cassera MS but a LOT of ducks needed to get in line to make this happen and somehow they did!! Quite unreal when we look back to the last time we are at HOY riding POY on Wembleybrook Tiffany and not reall having too many clues about show jumping😂

Campari was an absolute legend finishing 3rd in the 135cm YR qualifier and finishing 1st equal with Charlotte Conder in the Young Rider

Cassera MS had one down in the 140cm Lady rider qualifier and then had a few faults in the Lady rider and Premier Stakes. She jumped very well and it was incredible to get in the main ring and get more mileage at this level.

Centanna II was fabulous in the main ring for one light rail in the Junior Rider. Johanna’s last ever Junior as she ages out of this class😭

AH California Dreaming was also very mature in the main ring for one down at the end of the treble. Sam had only made it to one show since November so we were super proud of how he coped in a bigger atmosphere.

Eva and Larabelle’s first class was the 120 speed
and had a miscommunication to the second to last adding significant time but went on to win the 115cm qualifier. The 115cm champ was immediately following the Pony Club class. Lara was a superstar producing 4 clears and finished 2nd in the 115cm Champ. A great way to end their season🦄🤩

We had a weekend to remember at Canterbury Champs, so proud of the girls and all the team. There has been some serious hours going into the horses so it is very rewarding to get some fantastic results over the weekend.

Cassera MS was 4th in the Crawford Hill Open horse 130-140cm and had her second GP start for 2nd in the Property Brokers Grand Prix series in conjunction with Kinloch Farms, Vera is really enjoying the challenge of stepping up to this level, she is such an athlete of a horse!

Campari is an absolute legend with a faultless weekend winning both the FMG Young Rider in conjunction with Hussey Paint and Panel and The Tavern Harewood Mini Prix. Very lucky to have the ride on this very special horse, thanks Mike and Penny Tapley

Centanna II had her third seven year old start to jump clear and win the NZPH & A1 Equine Reproduction 7 yr old in conjunction with Canterbury Saddlery

AH California Dreaming missed our trip North but he has remembered his job and jumped double clear to win the Equitak Excel 6 year old in conjunction with Hazlett Ltd

Both by Centavos and produced by Johanna, very excited to see them both maturing into fabulous horses. We really appreciate the support of the breeders of both of these horses Jo Langworthy, Amberley House and Euro Sport Horses

Eva was 2nd on Larabelle in the MCL Contacting Open Pony 110-120 with a fabulous clear. Not their day in the PGP but some great learning and they will nail it very soon💪

Blossom NZPH and Eva have been working very hard on re-establishing the basics (Blossy thinks she really does know best) and nailed it in the last class of the show winning the Spraystore Horse 120cm Championship with a great dbl clear. Eva’s beaming smile said it all at the end of this class😍 Thanks Georgina Dormer for the ride on the pocket 🚀

Thanks Louise Poultney for all your help on Saturday, somehow we all managed to fit in a wedding as well😍

Home sweet home 🏡

We have had an epic month on the road with the horses and have been very well looked after in the North Island with vehicles, hay deliveries and wonderful hosts. We rounded out the trip with Marlborough Area Showjumping Group - ESNZ Show. An absolute favourite show on the calendar. It ticks all the boxes with fabulous facilities, great course design by Emma Barker and a welcoming committee.

The team have all made huge progress and Johanna and Vera tackled their first Grand Prix, great to get the first one under their belt and looking forward to the next one. Alfie (Campari) is really enjoying being back in the ring and is just so consistent. Fabulous to have Penny Tapley and Mike ringside. Annie just had the one start after her big Trans Tasman weekend.

Eva and Blossom NZPH finished the junior, Bloss made Eva work pretty hard and very proud of how she managed her!

A highlight of the weekend was being in the same classes as two of our number one supporters Amy Mackenzie and Georgina Dormer. Awesome to be competing alongside Amy and Georgie😍

We are having a great North Island road trip. Two shows completed before we head to Mana Stables in Hawkes Bay this weekend, Gisborne the following weekend before we head back South for Marlborough Show Jumping on our way home 🏡

First up was Central and Southern Hawkes Bay Jumping Show
Cassera MS just had the one start for a lovely dbl clear to finish 2nd in the Young Rider.

Centanna II had her first 7 year old start and was also dbl clear and finished 3rd.

We are very lucky to have Campari join the team, Campari is owned by Penny Tapley. We are very grateful to Penny and Mike for supporting Johanna with the ride on this superstar. ‘Alfie’ is an absolute character and we are all thrilled to have him back in the ring. They finished 6th in the 120cm and 4th in the Junior Rider.

Eva had a show she would rather forget, Eva and Larabelle having a few communication problems and Blossom NZPH and Eva parting company in the Junior.

Last weekend was the Show Jumping Waitemata World Cup Festival and despite the heat we had a wonderful weekend. A very well run show and a warm welcome from a hard working team of organisers. It makes a big difference when we’re so far from home!

Centanna II 6th in the 7 year old class

Cassera MS 4th in the YR and 7th in the Horse Mini Prix

Campari won the Junior Rider

Eva and Larabelle had a much better weekend with a 3rd on the 110cm and 5th in the Pony Super Series 110-120cm
Bloss not feeling herself, hopefully she will be back on track at Gisborne🦄
A fantastic win for Molly Smith and Vapour Trail in the Pony Grand Prix💪🤩 Thanks for being such great travel companions!!

Centanna II stepped up for her first 7 year old class in great style. A beautiful dbl clear. There were 7 clears in the first round. Some really beautiful horses and superb ground conditions made for some fantastic jumping🦄

ESNZ has today released the high performance squads in eventing and jumping following a review in December. The depth of horses and riders continues to build across the disciplines and that makes ESNZ high performance general manager Jock Paget very happy.
