Always nice to get high-fived for your clever technology – from those who really get it.

This 5-star user rating, received by one of our clinics in Canada, is obviously someone who works in the biz (because they know an AI API when they see one). Not only are they impressed with our tech; they love using Virtual Vet Nurse to communicate with their clinic.

We forwarded this little nugget to our dev team – and it made their day 😊

🐱🐶𝗔𝗿𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘀 - 𝗔 𝗛𝗶𝗱𝗱𝗲𝗻 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲:
Did you know that 80% of dogs over the age of 8 years old are likely to have arthritis and around 80% of cats over the age of 10 have some form of arthritis?

Once the temperatures start to drop (like today) you might notice your cat or dog becomes more stiffer, lame or just reluctant to jump up and down onto things. Just like with humans, arthritis becomes more painful and therefore more noticeable when the weather is cold.

𝙄𝙢𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙩𝙖𝙣𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙨 𝙩𝙤 𝙗𝙚 𝙖𝙬𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙤𝙛:
Just because your animal doesn’t cry or whimper when they move doesn’t mean they aren’t in pain. It is extremely rare for an arthritic animal to make noise when they are sore. This type of behavior in animals is more commonly due to sudden trauma (i.e. being run over by a car) or after surgery. Instead, watch closely how they move.

🔶Are they walking evenly on all 4 legs with nice long strides or do they favour one side?
🔶 Do they look a bit hunched through their back?
🔶 Can they jump, run and turn quickly with no sign of hesitation?
🔶 Do they get up from when they are lying down easily or is it a slow, deliberate process now?

Answering “Yes” to any of these questions may indicate they are experiencing pain and would be worth making an appointment to see a veterinarian to discuss this further.

Some of the main reasons why veterinarians should consider using chatbots are:

- Improved accessibility: Chatbots allow pet owners to get in touch with your practice at any time of day or night, even when you are not physically present. A chatbot can provide information/advice and/or undertake processes like appointment booking.

- Increased efficiency: Chatbots can handle a high volume of queries and requests simultaneously, freeing up your staff to focus on more pressing tasks. They can also provide quick and accurate responses to common questions, reducing the need for clients to wait for a response from you or your staff. Additionally, they can become a useful extension to your sales and marketing initiatives.

- Enhanced customer service: Chatbots can provide personalised assistance to clients, suggesting articles or resources based on their pet-specific needs and concerns. When combined with outbound messaging chatbots can undertake post-operative surveys and manage tasks such as prescription renewals.

- Cost savings: Chatbots can help to reduce the workload of your staff, leading to cost savings. They can also help to reduce the number of missed calls and the need for follow-up calls.
