Had the girls in the yards for the first time, getting them used to it so they aren’t so freaked out when it comes to CIDR and AI time ☺️ Going with Maungahina Maximus this year. Ruby and Angel are by Australian bull Dangit Matters, looking forward to seeing their calves next year

Moving day for the animals today, more land, more grass, more amenities = goals get achieved 🤞☺️ this new block has a set of cattle yards which means Ruby and Angel will be handled more and that vets can come work their magic when I plan to AI the three girls yay

The girls are looking so so good with their plump little tummies and there round booties haha. Loving the rain and the warm days that follow I’m great-full that I’ve hardly had to supplement feed this summer. Also the yards are slowly coming together I have the lane posts dug out now I just need to wait for a sunny week so I can level and cement them in and now I need to look into buying some timber to start on the rest of it. Got to love a good D.I.Y project ☺️

Ruby and Angel have settled in well and are slowly gaining my trust yay 😁

My oh my have they grown 😳 not long soon and Dolly will be ai’d. Hoping for end of January for a nice late calf to be born in warmer weather of 2022 😁 fun fact Tiny is now the size Harry was when I sold him but Tiny is half the age 😳 shows what a good proper start to life and some tlc can do 🥰

Tiny and Dolly are looking fantastic I can’t believe the change in them. I have way too much grass at the moment so I’m not feeding them anything else other than a scoop of 20% protein pellets just so the bag doesn’t expire and I have to throw it away. The paddock in the second pic has been shut up for a week and is as tall as the one they are in 😳😁

Tiny and Dolly had a blast this evening, it’s so good seeing them so happy and playful, video to come ☺️

Loving the new grazing block and can’t wait for some new adventures once covid has settled down a bit. I have a couple of plans but waiting until I can get a few things sorted first, like redoing the dismantled yards so I can have vets out to give jabs and do health checks ect a lot more easily

Loving the new grazing block and so is everyone else. Spoilt lot this lot, lots of grass and baleage as well ☺️

Exciting times ahead, a new grazing block with more land and a possibility of two new speckled park cross heifer calves to be bought in the next month or so if I can convince myself I need them hehe. The new grazing block means my poor pony doesn’t need to be tethered anymore as he won’t be able to go exploring where he’s not allowed 😂 and Harry sold a couple of weeks ago yay, he went to a lovely home until he’s ready for the freezer.

Everyone at Haylodge Stud are rather spoilt, Harry, Tiny and Dolly got lots of hay to keep them warm and full while Eeyore is double rugged to keep him warm and to keep his weight up ( he’s gotten a little behind the last few months while also living up to his name 🤦‍♀️😂) but despite the rough weather he’s doing really well and thinks he’s gods gift with his rugs on.

I’m bloody pleased with how Harry and Eeyore look considering I’ve got practically no grass and I’m feeding out hay. I’m break fencing one paddock shifting the fence every second day a post at a time and feeding 1/3 of a bale of hay (6-8 slices) and they are leaving hay behind yay. Tiny and dolly have nice round bellies and full rumens too. Tiny, dolly and Eeyore are due for a drench, vaccines and mineral jabs after New Years and I can’t wait to see them blossom even more after those goodies ☺️ The moo’s and I would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas 🎄 and have a fun, safe holiday ☺️

To say I have great vets would be an understatement... I just received this in the mail and I am so thankful. Loosing Tigger hit me a lot harder than I initially thought it would, she wasn’t just a baby maker to me. She was my family, my friend and my business partner. She will always be remembered and never forgotten but to carry on the business without her hurts as she was the one that started it all for me. I’m not giving up so instead I’m carrying on and doing it for her.

On Thursday 19th November between 12pm and 4pm my sweet darling Tigger passed away from a bad and aggressive mastitis infection. Vets did everything they could for her and I kick myself everyday for not knowing or wishing I had done things differently. On the plus side the others are all doing well, Harry is growing heaps and so is Eeyore. Dolly and Tiny Tim are getting fat on the grass they are on and that gives me the courage to keep going. My plans, goals and ambitions are still there but everything is postponed for now.

Eeyore is looking great he’s such a tank, I’m a little undecided if I wean him next week or around the 30th November but I have to decide soon as to what would be better for tigger and how soon I want to get her back in calf. Happy to announce the safe arrival of Tiny Tim and Dolly to their new grazing as well, they are both troopers and handles the transition from pen to paddock really well and are happy and content ☺️

Eeyore is going to have a big day on Monday, being debudded and rubber ringed and anything else he needs while mum gets a preg test because Harry got out a few weeks ago and she will be terminated if she is as with Harry being a dairy x won’t be a nice cross calf and my dream of ai to a speckle park and beef breeding. The lovely Sharon at Melwood Equestrian has kindly leant me her yards to make all this happen and while I’ve got tigger in there I can check her over for mastitis also going to chat to vets about our ai plan. Lots going on and lots to think about 😁

so the first calf wasn't quite what I was expecting but in saying that he has nice conformation and build so not a complete downfall just too much jersey for the path I'm venturing down. I'm striving for 10x better next year hoping to AI with a speckled park. lots of things going on and plans in the making. I have a very nice wee Friesian heifer calf at work that will come into the breeding herd when old enough that is if I can find more land to lease. without cursing myself, things are looking positive for my wee beef stud
