This beautiful wee girl is very much loved by her Mum and is our latest Connection Pet that our Superstar Volunteer's will have the privilege of walking. We met Missy today and she was absolutely delightful. We look forward to sharing photos of Missy as she starts her Pet Connection walking journey. ❤️❤️

Frankie (female) is fostered rural Oamaru. She has a beautiful nature, is gentle and playful, about 2 years young. This is from her foster Mum:

Frankie is a lovable rascal. She is intelligent, inquisitive and, sometimes, a bit too clever. Frankie needs an active home, where daily play sessions and adventures will keep her engaged (more mental rather than physical). Without stimulation, her intelligence soon leads her into mischief, she can easily jump a farm gate / squeeze through a fence in search of better fun. However, with the right lifestyle, she is a gentle and attentive companion. Ignores the ducks, chickens and sheep. Loves car rides.

Frankie also loves playing with other dogs, and she would be happiest in a home with another dog around her size and age, where she could play rough-and-tumble games. She usually chooses to relax near humans, but she’s not an in-your-face dog. She might nuzzle your hand to request a soft pat, or gently tap you with her paw, to invite you out to throw the ball. In return for your time and attention, Frankie will be a loving companion to share your days and help you remember to appreciate little things, like a nap in the sun or chewing a really good bone. I had the privilege of meeting one super cool pooch named Desmond today out at The Complex - 300 Hilton Highway. Desmond the speed demon was on his 5th long range tour from Christchurch on the bike with his Mum and Dad. How cool are Desmond's newly acquired race goggles. ❤️

Holly and 2 of her siblings came to us from a farm at 6 months old. * There are 2 males left that we are trying to find foster homes for. They are used to other dogs, sheep, cats, teenagers.

Although Holly has missed out on exposure to new environments and different experiences, she is going really well and has a beautiful nature. Shy at first - just let her come to you when she is ready.

Holly is playful, loves exploring and interacting with the other dogs. She has adapted to being inside and in town really well. Holly sleeps through the night in a crate with cosy blankets. She hasn't had any accidents inside as yet. Fine to be left on her own for a couple of hours once all of her needs have been met.

Holly will thrive in a patient home that has the time to dedicate to growing her confidence (at her own pace) and that has a good understanding of dog body language.

She needs an active home that can give her plenty of mental activities and adventures (not just a ball thrower). A home that already has a calm social adult dog would be a bonus.

$300 - this goes towards covering a small portion her costs - spay, vaccinations, chip (on NDB), registration, flea/worm to date.

Our application process includes - application form, property visit, vet history check. We do meetings once the adoption process is successfully completed.

South Island adoptions only. Owner occupied homes.
We do home out of the district and can arrange property visits. We do not send the dogs away on transporters.
Stock fenced properties require a fully secure/safe containment area for no one is at home.

A special thank you to Lauren, Alex and the Team at Vetlife New Zealand for the behind the scenes invite to tour their amazing facility located on the corner of Selwyn and Grasmere Street's. From the state of the art theatre with unbelievable technology through to the purpose built Cattery to say I was impressed is an understatement.
It was great to discuss our Pet Connection journey and services and with both organisations being passionate about animal welfare and community engagement the conversation was absolutely brilliant. Thanks again. 🙏

Update !!!
It's hard to know how the meet and greet went today. 🤔😂😂😂
Molly our Volunteer Connector met the wee superstars Daisy and Gemma today and well let's just say I think they liked her alot. Check out their smiles. ❤️

Meet Flynn a fellow visitor to Havelock today.
It was interesting talking to Flynn's mature owner and his worry about what would happen to the pooch if he had to go into a rest home. We chatted for a bit about the companionship that Flynn provides and he couldn't imagine life without him. He thought our charitable Pet Connection services were a great idea. .

My love of animals has always been the driving force of my career. I have worked in the animal industry since I was 19 years old. The latest journey has been the best one yet. I love meeting and connecting with people who share my passion. I am so thankful that Pet Products came along and gave me the opportunity to share the love with so many wonderful and supportive people.

The unconditional love that dogs give us day in and day out is a super special and powerful love

You'll remember Miss Poppy who was our very first Connection Pet.
Poppy and her Volunteer Connector Lee-anne have been pounding the tracks and pavement for quite some time now. Lee-anne says Poppy is a quirky wee thing and if she decides she doesn't want to go a certain way she just sits down until she gets her own way. 🤣🤣

This big guy had a nasty lung infection and his elderly owner needed to get him to the vet on Friday. 😎. This was the very first time we have used our pet transport van for the appointment at Aorangi Vets. The team there were fantastic and even allowed us to put our information pamphlets on the counter. 🙏🙏🙏

At The Pet Connection People we are here to assist the elderly and ill so they have the ability to keep their pet's with them when failing health or personal cancer / medical treatment's means the owner and their pet need a little extra support.

Over Volunteer Connector's will -

1) Walk the pet to keep the pet's fitness and health in check.
2) Transport the pet to and from it's vet or grooming appointment.
All of our services are free of charge as we are a charitable organisation.
