Our teams had an amazing time celebrating and recognising the incredible work of our dairy sector clients at this month's Annual Dairy Dinners.

The Dairy Dinners provide a wonderful opportunity to thank our clients for their continued loyalty and to show just how much we appreciate them. This year's event featured insights on current farming challenges, an engaging speech by our guest speaker Mike McRoberts, and plenty of great food and laughter.

A big thanks to our team for their hard work in organising these events and their commitment to supporting our farming community.

Interested in joining a team that values its people and clients and makes a real difference? Check out our career opportunities! https://www.franklinvets.co.nz/work-with-us

🌟 Meet our newest team member🌟

During our recent training session at Head Office, we had a special four-legged participant join us. Introducing Maple, who not only stole the show but also brought smiles to everyone's faces.

At Franklin Vets, we are proud to have a dog-friendly policy because:

🎉 Welcome Taryn to Our Team! 🎉

Introducing the newest member of our team, Taryn van Meygaarden, who joins Hamilton Small Animal Veterinary Centre with a wealth of experience in veterinary medicine. Taryn’s veterinary career has taken her to Wellington, Auckland, and the UK, before making her way back to her roots in Hamilton.

Taryn loves working in general practice, and has an interest in performing dentals and soft tissue surgery, alongside animal nutrition and canine behaviour. Her expertise in these areas will be a great asset to our team, and we can't wait for our Hamilton Small Animal pets and their owners to experience the exceptional care she provides.

Outside the clinic, Taryn is a mum to two sons and two mixed breed dogs, Rocky and Layla. She enjoys jogging, walking, baking, and spending time with family and friends. You might also catch her at quiz nights, enjoying local eateries, or cheering on the sideline at junior football matches.

Taryn is looking forward to meeting all the Hamilton Small Animal pets, getting to know their owners and treating their fur babies into their old age.

Please join us in giving a warm welcome to Taryn! 🐾💙

Happy International Women's Day! 🌸 Since its first celebration in 1911 and official recognition by the United Nations in 1975, today marks a global tribute to women's achievements and a call for inclusion with this year's theme, "Inspire Inclusion."

In fields like STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering Maths), where women have historically been underrepresented, it's inspiring to see the tide turning, within the veterinary industry. At Franklin Vets women are leading the way: 87% of our team, 77% of our veterinarians, 52% of our senior leaders, and 40% of our board members are women.

A heartfelt shoutout to the incredible women of Franklin Vets across veterinary care, nursing, tech, customer service, and support roles. Your dedication and hard work don't go unnoticed. Thank you for everything you do! 💪💜

It's Recycling Week, and at Franklin Vets, we're on a mission to make a green impact!

We're proud of the strides we're making to keep waste out of landfills. Our latest initiative, in partnership with Computer Recycling NZ, tackles improper tech disposal.

Check out the 1100L e-waste bin at our support office - helping us to minimise our environmental footprint across the practice.

Wellbeing is one of our core values. So, when it came to choosing a wellbeing program for our HR team to run in-house, it was important we choose a learning event that was not only grounded in science but also packed with practical tools, resources and opportunities to embed learning and ensure we all have (mostly) good days.

We've had great feedback from our people who have gone through this workshop series and we know it is making a difference.

So, it's wonderful to see Kathryn Jackson, who created this program, be recognised at the recent New Zealand Association for Training and Development Awards. Winner of the Best Skills-Based Learning Award, the programme was described as "a high quality, robust and impactful programme" and "underpinned by extensive and credible research".

Congratulations Kathryn!

We are proud to be the recipients of The New Zealand Veterinary Association's Veterinary Business Excellence Award for 2023.

Our people based initiatives, focus on wellbeing and resilience, along with the creation of ownership pathways for our people to ensure we remain locally owned into the future were key aspects of our nomination.

Here's a photo of CE, Mark Hosking, accepting the award at the NZVA gala dinner in Wellington last night. Well done to our entire team, we couldn't have done this without you!

Lest we forget. This Anzac Day, we remember the veterinarians who served in the First and Second World Wars.

The New Zealand Veterinary Corps was established in 1907 and was one of the first to volunteer its services when war broke out in 1914. Veterinarians played an important role in wartime, including treating sick and wounded horses, donkeys, mules and military dogs.

You can read more about the New Zealand Veterinary Corps at massey.ac.nz/about/news/remembering-the-new-zealand-veterinary-corps/

Is there anything more important than our health and that of our family and friends?

We all know that a bit of prevention is worth more than the cure so it was great to have the Melanoma Spot Check van come to our Pukekohe clinic this week.

In addition to around 40 of our team who took the opportunity to get those worrisome spots checked, we were able to offer this to customers too with about 15 taking it up!
