Grey One did a beautiful SH round yesterday for a phenomenal score of 82% and 3rd place. Just the slight hesitation at fence 2 where a shadow horse jumped out at him and made an awkward jump. I'm so pleased with this baby horse and how he handled such a big week away.
He was so good traveling down alone in a small rattly float and chilled out coming to be plaited and things by himself away from the other horses. I just wish he was 16hh!!

Thunder is now known as "Grey One" because it's what I always call him. Although he's now officially registered as SureThing.
We named him because everything you ask of him he says, "SureThing!"
This week we are at North Island Secondary Schools Champs and today he won the Level Zero Dressage Champs after 3 awesome tests where we had 2 x wins and a 4th
He's also jumping beautifully we just need to figure out our communication together now
I had my prize presented by Jock Paget which was exciting 🦄🏆🥇

Capi at Abderry show on Wednesday

18/04/2024

I was lucky enough to get the chance to start and bring on this guy, Thunder, at the end of the summer holidays. I don't often get time to ride him but every time I do he remembers what he's been learning and happily takes on new challenges. Yesterday he had his first outing in a show atmosphere at Abderry and also his first jump while there!
What a sane and willing pony he is!
He also had his first set of shoes on this week and was perfectly behaved.
He will be looking for a home at some stage as this is my last season on ponies.
3yo Northland bred. Around 14hh at the moment and definitely will stay pony

School holidays = I had time for this lovely pony to come for some work.
Capi is going to be available to a lucky child looking for a great all rounder type with a lovely nature and gorgeous movement. He's competed in the show ring at HOY in the past and has done quite a bit of unregistered dressage to L2. Also been a great alround 2nd pony for his current rider (who has outgrown him and is feeling too shy to present him to buyers). We will give him a few rides and then his owner will officially list him 😊

Apologies for the long time between posts
I'm not so little anymore! But still bringing on and competing a range of ponies and hacks.
Thank you to Abderry for giving my OTTB "Spider" such a great introduction to sporthorse life for him and I.
With the help of the expert coaching from Cheski Brown we managed to place 2nd in the Level Zero SJ series despite only starting any jump training a week before the first show. I also took Spider to a Secondary Schools teams event at Takapoto mid way through the series and placed thanks to the confidence we had together.
I cannot recommend these twilight shows enough. They're also well supported with amazing sponsors who provide fantastic prizes
Thank you to:
Animal Stuff, great products that all our animals enjoy
HorseSports our favourite Saddlery
HERDD bedding, I'm looking forward to trying this over winter
The Øtchef best burgers and chicken TINGS ever (you should come to the Abderry shows for dinner/lunch when Adrian is there, you won't be disappointed!)
Proper Soap I look forward to using this it looks divine
Spider is a 4yo TB by Thunder Down Under out of Sporty Spice
Currently looking to name him Thunderstruck

Honey coping with distractions and beginning to use her back a little better. She had found our place quite terrifying at first with calves in the stable right off the arena, Hugo the donkey who likes to throw his feed bin at her as she goes past, Buddy who tries to play chicken with the horse's front feet and then my brothers who pop out of nowhere now and then. She's feeling much more relaxed and is maintaining canter longer in our little arena which means she's having to also work on a circle most of the way

I'm very lucky to have been trusted with schooling the pretty "Honey" for the school holidays. She did very well in the blustery conditions to come in by herself and work next to the calves and donkey in stables which can make for scary noises.

My new project out for the first time at a show today thanks to the teachers striking. He was taken under the wing of Fly, who is on his spell so doing weird stuff with his tongue to keep him amused 🤷‍♀️ This guy is no fuss, no drama and trying so hard. 3yo by Thunder Down Under

Fly and I were part of the Rosehill College Equestrian Team at North Island Secondary Schools 2DE last weekend. We won our category making it 3 years straight that we've come away with trophies. So pleased with how my little man is coming along. It was his first Eventing experience and he was tense in the dressage, not helped by the rain. Still placed well. SJ was never going to be a problem despite it being his first experience indoors. And XC he was willing and relaxed. I kept him steady due to the conditions and his lack of experience and he went around so kindly and just collected 4 time faults
Thank you Cheski Brown. You are amazing in all areas of riding and horse management. I would never be doing what I do without you. Thank you Beth Wilson Equestrian for fitting us in for some xc schooling in awful Auckland weather. Thanks to Mum for her organising and support. And thank you to Secondary Schools Equestrian Horse Trials and all sponsors for putting on such a great event yet again. Fiber Fresh Equine - New Zealand I use Fibre Pro every day for my horses. The travel bag is genius and I love it. Thank you. Also thank you to Take The Moment photography and Spot on Photography

Last dance with Ninja today at Woodhill Sands for the Anzac Derby. We won our round and had the fastest winning round of the day too. We never go too "fast" but this little man can do the best lines and angles to make his round very economical. Ninja has most probably sold to a wonderful new family and so this was a very special day. The course was amazing. So much work had gone into the planning, thank you Strides Equestrian and organisers for the beautiful fillers and variety.
Fly also won his class. He is also progressing nicely and the challenges of this course made him both think and enjoy his time.
Thank you so much Cheski Brown for your time and work to get Ninja and me so happy and successful together. The only time success comes before work is in the dictionary!

I went and gave lil Moss a bit of a tune up tonight. He's been going very well and his little rider has improved so much since I last saw her! But it's always good for these cheeky little guys to have their buttons and gears checked over while their little riders are learning how to drive them 💖

Fly getting the hang of this XC thing. Great lesson with Beth Wilson yesterday. We barely even noticed the rain

I took Fly for our first XC practise together today. He loved it and nothing worried him at all

Pics from Abderry show 12.4.23. Accumulator classes were heaps of fun (and so cool to win both on Ninja and Fly respectively). Also so happy to see my little man, Whiskey, there. Cute that him and Ninja recognised each other ❤️ Thank you to Animal Stuff for the feed voucher!
