An awesome week at block course for our Canine Behavior and Training certificate! Highlights were Khai and I learnt the beginnings of scent work and rally-o! Looking forward to doing more work there as soon as Khai's recovered from a big week of learning 😁 Thanks to Jo Thorne for the photos.

Level 4 Emmett qualified! Thanks to Esme Whinwray for patiently teaching, Boo and Mylarky for tolerating the finger poking and Kelly for learning along side me 😁 One more level to go then I can sit my practitioners certificate! Had a wee practice on Bucket and Amazon once I got home, they loved it. Amazon wanted more, Bucket fell asleep over the trough.

Apparently hand raised alpacas are as****es, so Margot is going to be spending time with her birth family so she learns how to paca properly. Everybody was intrigued by her, except Lisa. Lisa is not going to be guilt tripped into parenting unfortunately. Thankfully Unkies Nelson and Remi are happy to help.

Looks like I'm about to become an expert on handraising baby alpaca! This is Margot, born on Friday, dumped by her mother Lisa, 3.3kgs (which is just over half a normal newborn weight) a trip to the vets yesterday when she crashed and then again today for a plasma transfusion, 2 hourly feeds, wooly jackets and heat lamps. Good thing she's cute! Meanwhile, Quinn my 10yo blue heeler bitch decided to hide a closed pyometria, by the time I noticed she was a bit quiet and rushed her to the vet (with Lisa in the float to go to another vets to get her blood taken, if shes not going to raise this baby she can at least help by donating plasma) Quinn's uterus had ruptured and she was whisked into emergency surgery. She's set to make a full recovery which I'm very thankful for because I was this close to losing her. So a huge thank you needs to go to Karin, Andrew and Brooke at North Canterbury Vets for Margots first visit and for looking after Quinn, and Tristan at Rangiora Vet Center for taking such good care of Margot and giving me all the advice, despite the fact Margot peed on him!

Busy day today! Had my first dog training client, young Noah is learning not to chase the sheep, he did so well, his focus was on point! Gave his owner points to work on until our next session, well done Noah!
Id the sheep was transported to his new digs, he was so happy in the float he didn't want out, once he did though he looked pretty happy meeting his new roomie.
Checked my little fleecy rats, merinos are the cutest sheep breed in my opinion, looking forward to getting some fleeces blended with my alpaca fiber and then seeing what my friend Zoe can create with that! To top it off, fixed some fences, rather hoping it rains soon!

Big thank you to Wayne Allison of Stoney Meadows Alpacas and the Alpaca Association NZ for running an Alpaca 101 workshop today, am now armed with the knowledge to take better care of Lisa and her cohorts, am certain she will not appreciate it. Photo of not Lisa, easy to tell because this wee button is happy to see me.

Finally got my portable yards! Easily holding my wee flock of 11 adults and 17 lambs. Weaning made easy, and also made getting the lambs in to the horse float and off to their new grazing so much faster 😀

This is Lisa. I've had the dubious pleasure of her company for about 4 years now. She hates me because I shear her every bloody year. Every shearing renews the hate subscription for the next 12 months.

This is my red eared slider. Her name is Evelyn, she's 18 years old and resists all my attempts to enrich her life. She buries the coloured rocks, she uses the airstone as a bubble butt massage, she pushes plants behind the rocks, she hides under beanbags when she's out roaming the house and I have to spend ages looking for her, and seashells that I've painstakingly cleaned get a momentary glace and then ignored 🙄

Tommy loves his Emmett technique bodywork. We focused on his back and shoulder today and he had some wonderful releases, big muscle twitches and relaxing switches. See how his veins have all popped up as blood flow improves around his whole body, not just the areas I was treating. So good to be able to deliver something the horses really enjoy and has so many benefits 🙂
