Now this Furst Hit EDH filly is a bit special. She’s out of a chestnut TB called Chelsea Street by Zacinto. We bought her for Friday hoping for a filly. I was excited by the match, she’s a super mare.
Circumstances changed and she was sold to Sharleen Griffiths, sadly before breeding her, but Sharleen bred to Friday herself and this is the resulting filly! 😍❤️
A gorgeous filly foal arrived recently out of RDiva a Rheinland mare owned by Belinda Horne who also happens to be a Holstein. This is the first time we have seen a cross with Holstein bloodlines and what a super filly she is!
There were not many foals bred last year due to Friday injuring his back on the phantom and then leaving for Europe mid season, but he continues to produce little carbon copies 😍
Leading 2 horses in from the field juggling a bucket still with feed in it, can be tricky at the best of times ….
But when one is a stallion and the other is a mare … it’s pretty extraordinary ❤️
LOVE my Furst Hit EDH babies!! ❤️
*** SOLD****Broodmare for sale. Only 6 years old, proven mum … and absolutely gorgeous temperament second to none, beautifully put together and super mover with rare shoulder freedom for a TB. Bright red chestnut with very good feet! She has not been classified yet but will easily.
We bought her in foal to a TB stallion and that foal is as big a mover as my Warmblood foals! Video is if her full TB foal.
We just have too many horses and we are down sizing. Chelsea was meant to go to Friday this season but with an overseas trip planned next year we have decided to have less foals next season. She would be an ideal match!
Amazing story to remind us all of the forgiving nature of our horses but also a testament to my boys incredible nature.
For nearly a year Friday has been a little fussy around his head. I remember last October at BOP Champs struggling to get the laser near his poll and it’s a small issue that has worsened this year with his left ear vibrating if you tried to touch his ears. I have tried a lot of body work and laser etc but nothing helped.
It didn’t effect putting the bridle on and he was still scoring high 70’s- 80% until this autumn when he didn’t really fire at Dressage By The Lake but still behaved well. Despite very good winter training I just felt something was off. I just wasn’t quite able to access his body and throughness as much as I’d like to, and he was more elevated in temperament than I remember … despite still being a good boy.
I know people might think I’m splitting hairs but I’m so glad I followed my gut.
One day about a month ago he spiked 40 degree temp out of no where and it vanished as fast as it came. I decided enough was enough and bundled him off to Waikato Equine Hospital. Wonderful vet Noel Power scoped him and a checked out his gutteral pouches, ultra sounded his head, and we even stuck the gastric scope down his ears! We then x rayed his head looking for old fractures or anything that looked unusual. The only thing he could find was strange looking saliva glands.
Interestingly according to research at KER, saliva gland infections usually have a dental origin and this poor boy had to have his wolf teeth surgically removed a year ago. Elevated SAAs (blood infammatory markers) that were going up suggested infection so Noel put him on strong antibiotics and I am so delighted and relieved to say after only 4 days he is an utterly different horse! He’s so happy and calm and much more relaxed! He’s good anyway but when things sneak up of you you sometimes don’t realise how different they become over time.
We have a
