Dash is nearly 4weeks old! He is getting more friendly every week. He has had 4 leading sessions (video attached) and doing extremely well

Evie definitely plays a huge role in both the c**ts training due to her being very friendly the boys are getting more and more comfortable with us being around them as they are beginning to follow Evie and watching Evie happily receive cuddles and scratches

Atlas already over 3weeks old! He is one chunky foal! He is in the early stages of leading having had one session the other day. He may look small but don’t be fooled by his size he is one powerful and strong foal 💪. He is getting more curious every day and beginning to play with the other foals too

Evie is growing like a w**d and her training is going smoothly. At just over 2months of age Evie can already lead, pick up feet (video below Is her 4th time picking up feet), be caught/haltered and has had a cover on. She’s got an excellent brain on her. She’s very friendly and will approach you the minute she sees you. Evie is also beginning to go black on some parts of her body so don’t be fooled by her colour. If you are after a beautiful easy going filly she’s the one!

As the year comes to an end, I just want to take a moment to reflect and say thank you.

This year at Westwind Stud has been full of hard work, learning, and exciting progress. From watching our horses grow and develop, to planning for future foals and dreams, it’s been a reminder of why I’m so passionate about breeding quality horses with good minds, strong foundations, and plenty of heart.
I’m incredibly grateful for the support from friends, clients, fellow breeders, vets, farriers, and everyone who has followed along, shared advice, or simply shown interest in what we do.

Looking ahead to the new year, I’m excited for what’s to come and grateful to be doing what I love with animals I care so deeply about.
Thank you for being part of the journey. Wishing everyone a safe, happy holiday season and a successful year ahead 🐎✨

Our next horse in the spotlight. The lovely Aeysha. Some of you may remember that she had quite a horrific accident a while back. We are glad to say she’s now back to normal, her weight has come back beautifully and her leg wound is all closed up now. We look forward to putting her back in foal next season❤️

We haven’t posted about the other team members in a while so today we will post an update on our Shakira.

For those who don’t know Shakira is my first horse that I got back in 2013. Shakira has taught me so much and I’ll forever be grateful for that. She is the dam of WS Raging Storm who was our first bred foal here at Westwind Stud.

Shakira is now semi retired and enjoys being a very valued paddock ornament. She still gets taken for the odd ride and of course receives plenty of pampering. We look forward to warmer days so we can give her a well deserved spa day 🧖‍♀️

We have a name for this wee muppet.
Dash/Dasher

His name has two meaings for us. Dasher is one of the reindeers pulling the sleigh, Dasher meaning speedy and energetic. Which closely aligns to the next meaning of his name, since discovering his feet Dash enjoys ‘Dashing’ away from his mum and run around crazy for 5min🤣. A tough call to make but we have decided not to breed any horses this year due to a lack of funds. We had attempted to get Ava in foal but sadly she did not take. This was not an easy decision and feels like a step back but we hope to be back in full swing next year. For now we are still eagerly awaiting two foals to hit the ground.
