🕊️Heaven Gained An Angel Today🕊️
A post I had hoped I wouldn’t be writing. It is with a heavy heart that Blue has been put down. His legs, all 4 were crooked and twisted. He begun to slowly spin in circles every so often. His spine had something wrong as well😞 he struggled to get up and would take about 5 tries to stand. This by far is the hardest decision I’ve had to make, and not a part of breeding I wanted to experience so early on.

Many foals straighten out within days, Blue was going backwards. Within a day he’d be worse and worse it was hard to watch him hold himself up😞

Get yourself a horse that comes when you call. This is one of my favourite things about Ranger. It makes me so happy when he comes running 🥰 plus it’s great when I check the herd as they all follow him 🤗

With the last day of the year. The Team at WS just wanted to say a Big Thank You. Thank you to all my followers, new and old. For your continued support of my business. It’s been great meeting new people as well as running Westwind All Breeds Show . It’s an exciting feeling to be recognised on the street, people coming up to me and knowing that I own Westwind Stud. I am absolutely blessed to have you all following me on this journey!

Oscar and his new buddy arrived in their new home in Canterbury yesterday. Big two days for Oscar. New owner, new horse, new home. But he’s been a superstar now they can relax and rest ❤️

Oscar arrived safe and sound! Now resting before the big trip to Canterbury tomorrow with his new mate. Oscar behaved superb for unloading and walking to the paddock

Today we said goodbye to Oscar. He has gone to an amazing home, a friend of mine. I know he will be spoiled and I look forward to receiving updates of him🥰. First floating for him, he walked in straight away didn’t hesitate. So proud of him! Lots of treats of course as we want to make sure his first floating is a good one❤️

Calves and Flower doing well, calves are paddocked with the broodmares, Flower roaming the back section with Shakiras herd. Love seeing happy animals 🥰

Dentist for the team today. So important to keep on top of it. Ranger was a very brave boy for having his wolf tooth removed.

Rocket wearing a cover too. Good training for both of them. Rocket is over 2 weeks now so he has begun to wear a halter since today. Let the training begin 😇

Blue wearing a cover for the first time today, poor man is beginning to sunburn, as expected.. his face still a bit to small to wear a halter just yet but he’s got sunscreen on to help a bit

There’s not been many posts on WS Raging Storm as I often post him on my private page. However this news is too good to not share!

I am over the moon. What happened today is a dream come true. Ranger won High Point Ridden Pleasure at the Tokomairiro A&P Society. This was our first A & P show and I’m so proud of him. Thank you so much to Outram Cowboy Challenge for hosting this section. We had such a fun time! It was a tough crowd to beat, everyone did so well 👏

Ranger is my very first homebred horse. He is what started Westwind Stud and I’m so grateful to the memories we get to make

Finally after a few days I have decided on a paddock name for this wee champ. I like to introduce to you 💙Blue💙. I had asked so many people for name ideas, having a long list and reading them out in the paddock. But there was nothing I really liked. So I went back to one of the first names that popped into my head when he was born, Blue. Blue because of his beautiful eyes. Never had I thought that Aeysha would give her blue eyes again after having Oscar with two blue eyes.

At this stage Blue won’t be for sale. He will be kept as a replacement, still hoping to get a filly of Aeysha but in case that doesn’t happen I’ve got Blue.

With running a business comes making tough decisions, and a few weeks ago when planning the feed budget of the coming year it became clear that Ollie had to go.
The local butcher was called and did a great job, even explaining to me everything as I was fascinated with the anatomy and seeing it in real life.

But that’s the circle of life, from feeding Ollie to him feeding my family and friends.

Hard decision but definitely the right one

At 11:30pm last night we welcomed WS Conclusively White to the world. A c**t sired by USA stallion Lil More Conclusive.
He’s a splitting image of his Dam and half brother Oscar. Aeysha has shown us that her genes are tough to beat! Paddock name to be confirmed but thinking Casper. I’m open to name ideas
