Hi everyone; happy Saturday! 🙌 A wee video taken this morning of the horses enjoying having their covers off and the sun on their backs while munching away on breakfast 💚☀️ In order of appearance… Percy & Carter, Prada, Boston, Sirius and Asha 🐴🌾 The paddocks all looking a tad drier than the previous video taken last Sunday in the snow! ⛄️😝 We’ve been busy behind the scenes so if you’ve sent an email this week but haven’t heard back we’ll be in touch over the weekend 📧✌️
Hi everyone; and just like that we’ve been thrust back into winter 🥶 Not only have we had copious amounts of rain turning the paddocks into lakes 💦🫠 … but we’ve also had snow settling here today! 🌧️ ⛄️ A good day to be inside in front of the fire 🔥
Hi everyone; it was a big day for us yesterday… Scott and Van ticked off a big personal milestone completing their first Prix St George’s test! 🐴👏 A very good (and much appreciated) call by the team at Canterbury Dressage to delay the start an hour to allow time for the arenas to thaw out! 🥶❄️ There is always lots to work on and improve, but that’s the exciting part! 🤩 Finishing up on 65% was a massive achievement at their first go at this level 💪 We are incredibly proud of big Van who always tries so so hard 🫶❤️🌟 A couple of video snippets from their test ⬇️🎞️
Hi everyone; it’s a stunning winters day here in Canterbury 🥰 Our horses are all enjoying having their covers off and are soaking up some warm sunshine 🐴☀️ Three-way scratches for Van, Flynn and Ollie 💆♂️ and new paddock hoonies for Milly and Carter 🚀🫣 We hope you’re all having a great long weekend! 💫
Hi everyone; it was like a train station here on Saturday with horses coming and going!! 🚂 We’re hoping for some afternoon breaks in the rain this week so Michaela can get photos of the newbies! ☂️ In the meantime, a wee video of the three fillies - 🖤Rio, 🩶Polly and 🤎Maple - getting to know each other on Saturday 🐴🥰
Hi everyone; it’s June! 😲 Where oh where did January-May go!? 🤯 We have photos to upload later today of some of the horses that are here (or have just left!) 📷 In the meantime, a wee video of the two half-brothers, 🩶Flynn (rising 3) and ❤️Hugo (rising 2), practicing moving out with the saddle on yesterday afternoon 🐴 We will also be adding Lesson Days and both a Groundwork and Ridden Clinic to the website over the weekend so keep an eye out for those! 👀📅
Hi everyone; with Carter staying with us, and Sidney being loaded up 10 mins ago to begin his journey to Auckland, that officially wraps up the handling of the Erewhon Station weanlings for the year!! ✅ We hope you’ve enjoyed the updates and watching both intakes of gorgeous babies progress though our Initial Handling Module 🐴✨❤️ One last video of Sidney having a final hug before being loaded up and heading away 👋 🥰
Hi everyone; as promised, here’s a video of Carter demonstrating the transformation these gorgeous weanlings from Erewhon Station make 🧡 From arriving completely unhandled (aka wild) to becoming familiar, confident and trusting about being handled 🐴🥰 This 10-day Initial Handling Module prepares them with all the basics they need to settle into their new homes! 🏠☺️ They are like giant sponges and learn so much in such a short space of time it’s truely remarkable! 👏🌟 And… because they haven’t been handled before, they haven’t learnt any undesirable behaviours, so are a truely clean slate - and this is what makes them such a huge pleasure and so incredibly rewarding to work with!!! 💖 Being apart of their journey is always a big highlight of our year! 🍀🤩🙌
Hi everyone; a cracking day in the sun for two fabulous lessons with Bill Noble today (Scott on Van and Michaela on Ollie) 🐴🐴 We are very fortunate that Bill visits Canterbury regularly and to have the opportunity to learn from him 🍀🙌 A couple of wee video snippets of Scott and Van today 🥰
Hi everyone; one final video for the day - this time of the weanlings practicing their leading today (which is Day 4) 🌟🥰 In order of appearance: Sidney (Planet's colt), Betty (Hotlips' filly), Carter (Amigo's colt) and Nige (a full clyde colt) 🐴 Plus a few photos about to be uploaded...
Curious and cheeky monkeys! 🙊🙈
Day 4
Good morning everyone! ☀️🐴 ❤️
NB: By Eric…. Scott means Nige 🤦♂️
Hi everyone; it’s a dull and dreary day but the second intake of Erewhon Station weanlings have arrived!! 🤩 All safely unloaded off the truck and now tucked away in the yards with plenty of hay and water to settle in before we start working with them tomorrow 🐴❤️ Photos to come but in the meantime here’s a wee video… in order of departure: Planet’s colt (who has been named Sidney), Hotlips’ filly, Amigo’s colt and lastly, Nige (a purebred clyde colt who will be going back to Erewhon) 🥰
Hi everyone; it’s always a little bittersweet when these gorgeous babies start heading home… 🐴🏠 We’re so excited for their new owners, but will miss them too! 🥺 They put so much trust in us, and are so rewarding to work with, it’s hard not to get attached 🫶 A video of the first two being loaded up and heading away🌟🥰 Such super stars loading straight up like ol’ pros - so incredibly proud of them!! 💗 Safe travels! 🚚
Hi everyone; the first two Erewhon babies are loaded up and on their way to the new homes 🏠🐴 Video of them loading up to come!
Hi everyone; we have a few final photos we took today to upload… but in the meantime here’s one last video of the first intake of Erewhon Station weanlings - showing you how clever they all are at loading on the float ✅👏❤️ They have one final night together before they start to depart for their new homes tomorrow 🐴 Some no doubt very excited new owners on the countdown to meet their precious new additions! 🤩⏳
Good morning everyone; after a frosty start the sun is out and three of the weanlings are out in the paddock enjoying their lunch in the sunshine ☀️🥰 L-R: Hannah’s colt, Laura’s filly and Quest’s filly 🐴🐴🐴 These three are all heading off to their new homes tomorrow 🏠🚚
Hi everyone; Day 9 of handling for the Erewhon weanlings is now done! 🐴 It was the Quest and Sweep fillies’ turn for their hoof trim (and oil ✨) this afternoon - a few video snippets ⬇️ Such good babies! 😇👏 Tomorrow is Day 10 - and the last official day of handling… two of the fillies head away to the top of the South on Sunday, the colt heads away to North Canterbury on Sunday too, and the final filly is awaiting a date for a truck to Auckland 🚚
Hi everyone; today is Day 8 of handling for the Erewhon weanlings 🐴 A wee video taken this afternoon of Hannah’s colt and Laura’s filly who both had all four hooves trimmed (and oiled! ✨)… and their first paddock turnout! ✅ We’ll give Scott’s back a rest tonight and will trim Quest’s filly and Sweep’s filly tomorrow! 😎 So happy with the progress these clever babies are all making 😇👏 They have learnt so much in such a short space of time! 🤓❤️
