Sugar and Mana really did love each other ❤️
A fun weekend with Roxy and Rosie. Rosie is 15yrs but has the energy of a pup on her walks.
I may be the Pet Nanny but I am also a vet nurse and love educating my clients. A few months ago you guys were interested in learning what’s poisonous for cats and dogs. I’ll keep it straight forward with the most common things that pop up in house holds and what we tend to see in the clinic regularly.
1. Onions and garlic - toxic for both species
2. Raisins, grapes, sultanas or currants- toxic for both species
3. Panadol for CATS! Never give your cat any form of Panadol
4. Dettol - toxic for both species
5. Tea Tree Oil- toxic for both species
6. Chocolate- toxic for both species
7. Some house plants such as lilies are very toxic to cats and dogs
8. Xylitol- this is an artificial sweetener that is found in lollies, chewing gum or some baked foods may have it- toxic for both species
9. Slug bait - toxic for both species
10. Anti freeze - toxic for both species

Stay cool for summer🫧
As some of you may have noticed the weather is definitely warming up and that means your pets are too!
Pets that may suffer the most from the warm weather are..
☀️Flat faced breeds ( French bull dogs, Persians, pugs etc.
☀️A thick coated breed like a Husky or a Maine coon
☀️Animals that are overweight
☀️Animals that have pre existing problems like lung or heart problems! Laryngeal paralysis!
Ways we can help them cope✨

❄️A bowl of water with ice cubes in it
❄️Having access to cool shaded areas- indoors or outdoors
❄️Hosing them down- paying attention to their belly, inner thighs and paws
❄️Providing a wet towel for them to lay on
❄️Not exercising in the hottest part of the day- try to do early morning or late evening

Frankie recently had a spey so I worked on ways to keep her mind active and her wound safe!
We started with feeding her breakfast in her puzzle feeder! These are great for any dog but especially for a puppy in recovery. This encouraged her to use her three senses touch, smell and sight. By doing this we engaged her mind and encouraged her to eat slowly!!
We also played a game of shake being mindful to reduce any running or jumping, something that must be avoided post spey.
You may notice Frankie also had a coat on. This was because she didn’t tolerate the cone well so we improvised… we went for this temporary solution while supervising her. The con of using this particular coat over a cone was it could move upwards allowing her to get at her stitches. The plan going forward was to have this on when monitoring her and then the cone on when her owners went out or at bed time. Once we had a chat over this solution Frankie owners found something that was even more suitable for her and Christmas time ✅
This meant she couldn’t get at her stitches but also she was comfortable and less stressed! Check out the comments for her Christmas outfit 🤶🎄🎅
Cinnamon and I getting our daily step count in!
Do you worry when you go away that your animals are going to be anxious or stressed? Have you added something new into their environment that has caused stress? 😣This could be a new dog or cat, a new born baby, you have moved property’s or are you taking your animals in the car? These products above can help to reduce those anxious feelings.
How do they work?
These products produce a synthetic pheromone which creates a calming effect.
DOG OWNERS! 🦮
The product I would recommend dog owners would be Adaptil (the product in the blue packet) Adaptil is a synthetic pheromone that mimics what a mother dog would release to calm and reassure their puppies. This pheromone works on dogs of all ages and is not detectable to other species such as cats or humans. Adaptil is a great option for a dog that may suffer separation anxiety! It comes as a room diffuser, a collar and a spray!
CAT OWNERS 🐈
The product I would recommend for cats would be Feliway. Seen in the purple packet! Just like Adaptil, Feliway produces a synthetic pheromone which mimics the same pheromones the queen would produce for her kittens to calm and reassure them. This product is also extremely useful for cats that may spray in your house, scratch or get stress induced cystitis! Feliway comes as a diffuser and spray.
Where can I get these products from? At your local vet, Masterton Pet Shop or online!
💗This is not a sponsored post! These products I have used in my career and have found that they work amazing! 💗
