I've been recovering from surgery on my right elbow and been unable to use my right hand properly so started teaching myself Painting left handed.
My focus has been on using the pallet knife, mark making, brush strokes and trying to blend...

It's been a fun challenge. As I continue to recover...( With so many ideas) More is likely to be added 😉

A few pictures I took on recent travel to visit family and friends on the west coast.. I plan to do drawings or paintings of them at some stage. I assured to label them so when I do they are geographically correctly named.

In support of Gumboot Friday I am wearing my gumboots in the surgery today...
For those who don't know what I do for a living I am a Dental Assistant/Oral Surgical Assistant..
Please note they were cleaned before use in surgery to avoid Cross contamination issues and comply with Cross infection control policy 😉

This was my second entry into Darfield artweek show.
I'm very pleased to announce that it has SOLD ( on opening night too).
I've been working on a wee series of ducks. This painting was the first of the three and the only one of the series I had entered into the show.

This is one of two Lion portraits I've recently completed. (The second one is a pencil drawing done on drafting film.) Both of these I kinda were challenged to do!….
Recently I had been working with an Oral surgeon. One of the days we were sitting down and having a chat. I was showing him my artworks here on Instagram and Facebook. He was in owe of my abilities to paint and draw whatever I can. Then he said his Brother ( a gallery coordinator in South Africa) once said to him "that a tell of a really good artist was they were able to paint and draw a Lion really well".
I saw that as putting down a challenge.. I asked him "which medium would he like me to use and what size" ...
I haven't worked with him again since but emailed his office with the pictures of the finished work. Haven't received a response 😔... (Would have been cool to have been able to have added that here.. regardless I think it's a good story behind the artworks! )

When gifted to him he was so humbled.. and almost in tears.
He couldn't wait to hang it on his wall. It made my day as much as it did his!!

Bit of a long story behind these drawings...

A few months back I got a message from the Gooserooter of Geraldine. He asked me if I'd be interested in painting some words on the side of his caravan.( He sent this through to me.. I had a long think about it.) My artist creative brain then kicked into overdrive.. I like the play of words. I could do some fun and creative with what he had written down.
So I came up with these!

A few months passed and I was wanting to get them to him in person. So when I saw that he was going to be at the Christchurch A&P show. I knew that would be my chance. It was great to see his reaction to them and to later hear that people he has shown them to loved them and wanted prints of them.

Today I was wondering around at the Truck show and saw them and proud as printed out and on the side of the caravan on display. I even got to meet Yogi ( of Kendal trucking - Aussie outback trucker fame). Hope he had the chance to have a look at them and maybe give us a shout out😉.

This is my daughter's work toy!! She took a photo of it on misty morning sunrise behind it and asked me to paint it for her.
She is very particular on my paintings. So getting it right to her satisfaction was a must!! I'm yet to sign it and seal it... But she's happy enough with it to allow me to share it 😊

Second I've been knocked down with Covid, But not out!! Getting back up to fight life again ( Yes I love boxing 🥊...among my many talents 😁).
