❣️ ADOPTION APPOINTMENTS - SUN 26TH❣️

Today there’s 3 kittens available for adoption:

GIRLS
Tabby & white - Murray aged 3mths, Helen aged 3mths
Calico - Mimi aged 3.5mths

They have all been desexed, had at least one vaccination, are microchipped, and up to date with flea and worm treatments. There’s a required adoption donation of $215 (one vax) or $265 (two vax) each to go toward covering their costs. They will come with a pack of the food they’ve been eating.

Appointments are available in Kilbirnie, at:

1.30pm
2pm
2.30pm
3pm

And later if required. If any kittens aren’t adopted they’ll be available to meet tomorrow.

You and your household get 30mins to hang out with the kittens and see who you bond with. It’s best to being everyone who lives in your home, and no one that doesn’t.

😻 PLEASE NOTE: It’s the kitties who get to choose who adopts them, there’s no adoptions based purely on looks.

Two spicy kittens with mostly liquid poo for their first 9nts at FN hasn’t been fun for me or them 😬🤣 We’re making progress though, for the first time I didn’t have to throw away their bedding this morning… it was washable 🙏 Once their poo is normal they’ll be able to go to a foster home, but for now it’s best they are contained.

Mango (protective one with the aeroplane ears) was wondering if someone might like to sponsor their sibling. They’ve declined to let me know their gender so any name goes 💜

💙 LEONARD 💙

Beaten up old* tom, Leonard, is seeking a longer term foster home or foster-to-adopt situation. (*he’s not actually old, he’s somewhere in the 2-7yr bracket).

It’s 10 days since Leonard was neutered, and he’s proven to have a temperament that would be conducive with an indoor only life - which is necessary due to being FIV+

Since his neuter, he now has free roam of the bathroom but he prefers to keep to his carry cage. He hisses when they get too close but at no point has he ever swiped (even with their hands right there by his paws/mouth/face etc.

He hasn’t yet eaten in front of his fosterers but he certainly eats well and he absolutely loves cooked chicken! Chicken will be the way to his heart and earning his trust.

Leonard is seeking a foster home where he can have a spare room - initially - to continue getting used to an indoor life. He needs a patient, kind, gentle person /people who will spend time with him every day - just hanging out, so he can get used to you. Simple things like eating your dinner in his room, watching a movie, reading a book, having a nap etc.

As Leonard has shown zero aggression, he would be fine for a home with a quiet child or two, who are old enough to follow instructions and keep the door shut I’ve previously had cats like Leonard who’ve gone into homes with children who have spent hours reading aloud to the cat. In one instance, the cat (who wasn’t handleable at FN) absolutely prefers the small humans in her home 🥰

Leonard still needs to have a few teeth removed so you need to be willing to transport him to and from CareVets Wainuiomata in the near future for that.

Here’s another story of kittens who were well loved and cared for… until they were dumped.

Last March, Happy, Taylor, Indie & Chynna were put in a suitcase and left at someone’s door 🤷‍♀️🤬 Fortunately, the home they were dumped at had some good people who took them to their local vet clinic who contacted FN 🙏🥰

To everyone who doesn’t believe that tiny grey kitten could possibly have been dumped in the recycling, especially anyone who thinks she doesn’t look dumped / thrown out… let me share some old stories.

Back in May of 2022, three sweet affectionate kittens were sealed in a box, driven to a remote area and dumped. Another animal (presume dog) found the box, ripped into it and two of the kittens ran for their lives. The sisters named Iggy & Delilah were in excellent* condition, appeared in perfect health, and once they felt safe and recovered from their trauma their affectionate side came out.

Someone had loved and cared for these kittens, and then they were dumped in a sealed box with the intention that they should die. This happens a lot, around NZ and around the world. You’d be hard pushed to find a rescue who hasn’t dealt with sweet healthy kittens who have been dumped.

* ok so they were the kittens that launched the great ringworm epidemic of 2022 😂😭

This adorable little chonk arrived today for her second stay at FN 🩷 Her first time was from Oct-Dec 2020 when she arrived with her newborns Rachel & Morgan. She briefly fed a baby Pixel, and when her kids were growing much faster than him he moved on and she took on Sugar & Floss. Mama Gigi did a fabulous job of being a mum, and then a fabulous job of finding herself a wonderful furever home. Unfortunately, Lily, as her mum named her, recently started bringing mice and rats into the house - quite the tripping hazard for her 90yr old mum! 😳 Attempts were made to make Lily an indoor only cat but she made it clear she wasn’t having that and so the sad decision was made to give her up 😢 5yr old Lily is the sweetest snuggliest lap cat who loves a good belly rub. She has been beautifully cared for - and her mum gave her absolutely everything she needed, and has even been following advice to trim Lily down a bit. Despite being a little extra cuddly, Lily is nimble as anything… but she could definitely do with shedding a little more of her winter weight 😉 I’ve been told Lily was often seen trying to make friends with neighbourhood cats, so she could be ideal if you’re looking for a second cat. Lily will be up for adoption this Sunday, look out for the adoption appointment post at 7pm tomorrow 😻

Check out all this ginger!! Ginger mama Leonie and her 4 ginger kids, plus the 6 kids of ginger mama Ratta… including 2 gingers. At the moment, our or all the kitties in FN care, the biggest number of any particular colour is ginger 😳🧡

When you adopt your first kitten, it’s easy if you come to Feral Nation - you adopt one who likes you. But when you come back to adopt a second one… the new kitten not only has to like you but also has to be a good match for your existing kitty. Sometimes they can be instant friends, sometimes it takes a bit of time. For Charlie, who was adopted on Sunday, he has found an instant BFF in his new big sister Koko. She was adopted in April, during her time in our care she was Tigger. Their family could not be happier with this outcome ❤️

Six kittens and one mama cat have been adopted so far 🥰 This leaves one kitten and two mamas, adoption post will go up at 2pm 💝

The first 20 days of Aslan’s life haven’t been the easiest for either of us, however I think he’s finally on the up and I could even go so far as to say he’s now finally thriving 🙏 He’s tiny for his age but I reckon another week and he’ll have hopefully caught up to what he should be for his age 🤞💙

All 4 appointments were snapped up within one minute 🙀😅 Next adoption day is Sunday 29th - there will hopefully be 8 kittens and 2 young mama cats 🥰 This noisy creature will be amongst them 🤣 This was him taking it easy after his neuter yesterday 🤔🤦‍♀️😅
