5 Steps to Maximize Your Clipper Blade Life ✂️
Your clippers are high-precision tools, and proper maintenance is the single biggest factor in reducing salon costs and preventing frustrating snags.
🛢Lubricate (The Golden Rule): You must apply at least 3 drops of Clipper Oil every few minutes of use. 👀 Oil doesn't just lubricate the metal; it flushes micro-hairs and helps pull heat away from the blade, preventing premature dulling and client discomfort.
🧼 Use Blade Wash for a Deep Clean: Oiling only lubricates—it doesn't clean. After a long day of grooming or even a dirty groom, immerse the running blade in Blade Wash to flush out sticky residue, dander, and trapped hair. 🚨 Immediately dry the blade and re-oil to prevent flash rust!
🐩 Clip Clean Hair ONLY (The Anti-Sandpaper Rule): The fastest way to dull a blade is using it on a dirty coat. Dirt, and sand act like sandpaper on the sharp metal edge. Always ensure the dog is fully bathed, dried, and brushed before the blade touches the coat.
↪️ Rotate Your Inventory: Don't wear out one blade set. Have a rotation system for your most-used blades. By rotating them frequently, you distribute the wear evenly, extending the life of your entire collection.
🧰 Secure Storage is Non-Negotiable: Blades must be stored completely dry and lightly oiled. Keep them safe in a dedicated box where they can’t knock against each other or be exposed to high moisture, which leads to rust and chipped teeth.
