The team at Picton Veterinary Clinic are great advocates for their patients and think out of the box for ways to use our Traffic Light Bandanas!
Thank you for the support 😊

Safety while catching a p*e sample.

Yesterday I needed a p*e sample from MISTY so decided to put a RED traffic light bandana on her to send a message. She is not aggressive, but I needed to tell people 'Keep away'. 🛑

I must confess I get a little anxious now when I take a client's dog for a walk. I cant arrive at a park and expect to be left alone to complete our mission. 🚶‍♀️
With MORE DOG ATTACKS in town I do worry. Recently we saw another little white dog ripped up by 3 big dogs and was truly lucky to be alive.
It is I that fixes them and sees the mess and stress. 😧

All I ask is.. respect each other, dont assume it's ok for your dog to run up to another, put your dog on a lead if the other dog is and everyone communicate so we ALL can enjoy walking dogs.

We are deeply saddened to hear of Meg's recent passing.
She was an advocate for Traffic Light Bandanas - For Dogs and Lead the Way, kindly modelling our bandanas and leads for Lead The Way in 2019.

She will be greatly missed by all. RIP beautiful soul.

Would you let your pup play with a leopard?

While we don’t have big cats on our shores, did you know that leopard seals often visit New Zealand in winter?

Pictured here, they have a long, slim body, a large head and characteristic grey spots. Female leopard seals can even weigh up to half a tonne! This leopard seal was seen at Waikouaiti last week. Be sure to keep an eye out, especially through winter 👀

Have you spotted one yet? Leopard seals need rest when they come to shore, and they don’t find meeting your pup very relaxing! If you spot one, or other wildlife on your walks make sure you keep well away and recall your pup to put on their lead.

Traffic Light Bandanas – For Responsible Dog Owners

It is so important never to assume that a dog is safe to approach. It is in the best interest of both the individual and the animals that every dog is approached with caution because just like people, they can have bad days! Without a direct indication of a dog’s temperament, it can be difficult to predict the way they may behave around other dogs and even children. Traffic Light Bandanas are designed to eliminate this guesswork. By tying a bandana around the neck of your dog you are providing a direct, visual representation of its temperament, and whether it is safe for people, children and other dogs to approach.

We are proud to have the support of the SPCA and Dunedin City Council to spread the awareness and share this important message.
