This is Zach, a 4 yr old British Bulldog looking for his forever home.

Zach loves people and other dogs. He loves riding in the car and sleeping on the bed. He enjoys a walk. Zach is a strong boy so children over 10 yrs. We have had Zach's nose and soft palate done. We ask for a $200 donation to cover some of these costs and allow us to help the next dogs.

Zach is not for a first time dog owner and we would prefer someone with Bully experience. A property check will be carried out by one of our volunteers.

Not a vampire slayer

BUFFY is a lovely 9 mth old staffy x, weighing around 15kgs, rescued by Humane Society and now looking for the right home

She is cuddly/affectionate and has typical terrier traits, so no cats, small animals or first time dog owners - experienced owners only

She is recovering from separation anxiety and doesn't do well being left for long periods, with how long depending on various factors.

She's looking for a patient home that will provide daily exercise, commit to ongoing training and provide strict boundaries/structure to ensure she doesn't relapse.

She needs to live with another stable dog (size is not an issue for her), she does play rough at times but also enjoys snuggling. She could live with dog savvy kids aged 13+ and must have 1.8 metre fencing with no gaps.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&v=A8fR1IbUCew

BUFFY has been vet-checked, spayed, vaccinated microchipped and is currently registered so we ask a minimum DONATION of $200 towards these costs.

Her new owner must have a securely fenced property as per above, which a volunteer from the Society will check prior to her being released to her new home.

You will also need to meet her at our foster home in Helensville as we WILL NOT send dogs anywhere and must meet all prospective owners.

Please email [email protected] or phone our volunteer on 09 630 0510 for more information.

LUCILLE is a 5 mth lab x puppy,.

She is a lovely gentle girl who loves her toys and gets on well with other dogs. She is learning to walk on a lead and is doing well.

She will need some human daytime companionship and/or that of another dog of similar size, but older than she is. She would also benefit from going to puppy school as would her owners, so her family will need to make time for this.

LUCILLE has been vet-checked, vaccinated, desexed, microchipped and is currently registered so we will ask for a minimum DONATION of $200 towards these costs.

If you are interested in adopting her, you will need a securely fenced property to keep her contained which a volunteer from the Society will check prior to her being released to her new home.

Churchill is out on trial

CHURCHILL is a 3 year old bulldog x.

He came to the Humane Society in a shocking condition, his skin was red raw and his eyes closed shut. He has had his eyes done and treatments for his skin. He will need a new owner who can continue on his regime including feeding him the special biscuits he has been prescribed.

He gets on well with other dogs and hasn't taken much notice of the cats in our foster home, but may well chase a scaredy cat if it ran from him.

He loves going for walks, so needs his forever home to be an experienced owner (preferably who knows the breed type) able to meet his requirements.

He will need some human daytime companionship and/or that of another dog around the same age and size.

We don’t know his history so in a family situation, preferably children over 10 years.

Interested? Contact our volunteer on 09 6300510 or email us on [email protected]

DUSTY & PETULA (girls) and CLARK (boy) are 12 week old German Shepherd x Labrador puppies.

They are sweet little pups who love their toys. They get on well with the other dogs in our foster home and just want to play with the resident cat.

They MUST HAVE human daytime companionship as they are too young to be left alone for long periods of time - they will also need regular feeding.

Dog experience would be beneficial and a commitment to suitable training, They are learning to walk on lead and they and their families would benefit hugely from puppy school.

If a family situation with children, older age-group only - 8 years and upwards.

They have all been vet-checked, vaccinated, desexed, microchipped and are currently registered so we will ask for a minimum DONATION of $200 EACH PUPPY towards these costs.

If you are interested in adopting any of them, you will need a securely fenced property to keep them contained which a volunteer from the Society will check prior to them being released to their new homes.

Please email us on [email protected] or phone our volunteer on 09 6300510 more information.

If a family situation with children, older age-group only - 10 years and upwards. He will also need some human daytime companionship as he very much a puppy and will need care and regular feeding.

KOBI has been vet-checked, vaccinated, desexed, microchipped and is currently registered so we will ask for a minimum DONATION of $200 towards these costs.

If you are interested in adopting him, you will need a securely fenced property to keep him contained which a volunteer from the Society will check prior to him being released to his new home (preferably in the north island).

Bosley is out on trial.

BOSLEY is an abandoned 8-year old Portuguese Water Dog.

This is a lovely intelligent breed. Bosley is a very gentle boy who loves to be with people. He gets on well with other dogs and cats, loves going for walks and is hypo-allergenic so will need regular grooming.

He will need human daytime companionship with another dog/human or both and must go to an experienced dog owner. While these are great family dogs we have no history on him so children over 8 only. NO EXCEPTIONS!

Bosley has been vet-checked, vaccinated, neutered, microchipped and is currently registered so we will ask for a minimum DONATION of $200 towards these costs.

If you are interested in adopting him, you will need a securely fenced property to keep him contained which a volunteer from the Society will check prior to him being released to his new home.

Beau is NOT a Humane Society dog. We are advertising on behalf of his current humans.

Beautiful Beau is a 22 mth Border Collie x Hunterway (born 21 August 2020).

He has been a much loved pet since he was three months but his owners realise he is in the wrong home and needs experienced and energetic owners.

He’s very intelligent and knows his basic training but needs to be more mentally and physically stimulated. His breed mix says it all.

He’s good with other dogs and fine with cats once they have put him in his place (typical dog!).

He needs someone who can give him boundaries and not let him dominate - unfortunately that isn’t happening in his current home because of the dynamics of too many people giving conflicting messsges.

He’s is a dog that needs a job - even if it’s just regularly escorting his owner to do some serious kms. A bit of work and this dog will be your best friend and companion for life.

He is desexed, vaccinated and registered.

For more information please contact Sheryl on 027 4901 765 or email [email protected]

Sweet little Coca is a 6 mth lab x staffie. .

He loves his toys, gets on well with other dogs and is fine with the staunch cat in our foster home, but like all dogs would probably chase a scaredy cat, especially if it ran from him.

Coca is doing well with lead walking but really needs to go to puppy school. His new family will need to have time for this, for his benefit and theirs.

He is a bouncy pup although he has the lovely nature of his lab/staffie mix. He would better In a family with older children (8+) and/or dog experience because of his excitement about life.

As Coca is still a baby he will need some human daytime companionship and/or that of another dog older than he is.

He has been vet-checked, vaccinated, neutered, microchipped and is currently registered so we will ask for a minimum DONATION of $200 towards these costs.

If you are interested in adopting him, you will need a securely fenced property to keep him contained which a volunteer from the Society will check prior to him being released to his new home.

You will also need to meet him at our foster home in South Auckland as we WILL NOT send dogs anywhere and must meet all prospective new owners.

If he looks like your next family member call 096300510 or email [email protected]

Nova has a new forever home🐾💜

Thanks for all the interest.

Nova is a Female British bulldog, aged 2 years 7 months recently surrendered to us.

She is the sweetest girl and loves people - good with children and other dogs. (Like all dogs - may chase cats.). Great on and off lead, she loves to run and likes the water.

Novawill only go to an experienced bulldog family and must come back to the fosterer if it doesn’t work out. Therefore Auckland area only.

Nova has been vet-checked, spayed, microchipped and is currently registered so we will ask for a minimum DONATION of $200 towards these costs.

Dallas has found his forever home 🐾💜

DALLAS is a 6 year old jack russell x. He only has one eye and we have no idea what caused this to be removed as we have no history on him. It certainly doesn't impede him any.

He is a sweet boy who gets on well with the other dogs in our foster home. He has been fine with the resident cat, who is staunch and able to stand up for herself - he may well chase a cat if it ran from him, most dogs will.

He loves people and going for walks and will be a great family dog (children over 8 years) or as a companion to an active older person or couple.

He will also need some human daytime companionship as wouldn't do well left alone for long periods of time.

Dallas has been vet-checked, vaccinated, neutered, microchipped and is currently registered so we will ask for a minimum DONATION of $200 towards these costs.

If you are interested in adopting him, you will need a securely fenced property to keep him contained which a volunteer from the Society will check prior to him being released to his new home.

Barry has been adopted and is living the life 💜🐾

Barry is an 8-mth lab (lab x?) recently surrendered to the Humane Society (previous owner developed allergies).

Classic lab temperament - food and praise driven, very affectionate and goofy. Respectful of resident dogs and cat (might chase a less robust one).

Beautiful dog - great physique and coat. Will make a wonderful member of the family - he’s desperate for a human to call his own.

He has not had a lot of training so will need someone prepared to put some time in. Will be worth it.

Barry will be vet-checked, vaccinated, neutered, microchipped and registered before adoption so we will ask for a minimum donation (tax deductible) of $200 towards these costs.

If you are interested in adopting him, you will need a securely fenced property - we will do a property check. You can meet him in Pt Chevalier.

Interested? PM this page, call 09 6300510, or email [email protected]

NB We operate on a volunteer basis and while we will respond as quickly as we can please be understanding of any delay.

FIZZ is a 4 mth whippet x.

She needs an active family as she is a playful girl who gets on well with other dogs so someone with another dog she could play with older than she is would be beneficial. She would probably be compatible with a staunch cat, but would chase if they ran from her.

She will need some human daytime companionship and if a family situation, children over 8 years only - no exceptions.

Fizz has been to the vet, been vaccinated, spayed, microchipped and currently registered so we will ask for a minimum DONATION of $200 towards these costs.

If you are interested in adopting her you will need a securely fenced property to keep her contained which a volunteer from the Society will check prior to her being released to her new home.

When you’re out guzzling Guiness on St Patrick’s Day – don’t forget about Gertrude, the other saint celebrated on 17 March.

Born around 626AD, she and her mother founded a monastery – famous for its hospitality. Like most female saints, her virtues were very womanly - she was hospitable to all, and good in the garden. As a saint she is also called upon for the sick, the poor, the elderly, and to ward off fever, mental illness and mice.

Early paintings often showed her with mice running up her staff, referencing her fervent prayer for holy souls. But the mouse connection is also literal. The monastery kept lots of cats (for company and to keep the plagues of mice at bay) and Gertrude was famous for her kindness to them.

So forget that old snake-hating Saint Patrick, take a moment to cherish the cats in your life and remember the remarkable Saint Gertrude, an independent woman who refused to give in to the pressures and expectations of her time, and showed kindness and compassion to people from all walks of life. And who really loved cats. (Reposted from 2018) (pat your cat)

We aren’t bird experts at the Humane Society but picked up this little guy (Kotare/ Sacred Kingfisher) when we were getting some dog food in East Auckland.

(S)he’s gone to Pet Doctors St Lukes & Exotics Centre (a dedicated Veterinary Hospital for exotic pets and wildlife). They’ll evaluate and hopefully fix and pass on to a bird rescue or will gently put him to sleep.

Hang in there little one. 💜

JAKE is a 5 mth old shar pei x. He is a lovely pup who is great with other dogs and has been fine with the cats in our foster home. He may well chase if they ran from him though.

If new owners have another dog, it would need to be the same size or bigger than him and tolerant of puppies as Jake can be a bit full on with them.

He can be a bit boisterous so children over 8 years only - far too much for little ones. His owners also need to have the time to take him to training, so he can learn much of what he needs to know.

He will also need some human daytime companionship and/or that of another dog.

Jake has been vet-checked, vaccinated, neutered, microchipped and is currently registered so we will ask for a minimum DONATION of $200 towards these costs.

If you are interested in adopting him, you will need a securely fenced property to keep him contained which a volunteer from the Society will check prior to him being released to his new home.
