Join us for SPCA’s sweetest fundraiser this Sunday at Bunnings Whangārei! We'll be setting up shop from 9 AM with a selection of delicious homemade cupcakes. We'd like to thank Whangārei Boys High Tourism for letting us join them. They will be holding a fundraiser next to us if savoury is more your thing!

"The first step in improving welfare issues in the Far North is to reduce the number of puppies and kittens being born. Desexing is the only way to significantly improve animal welfare long term in this region, and encourage responsible pet ownership. A year ago, we at BayVets decided to reach out to SPCA for help."
Jorrit from Bay of Islands Veterinary Services has shared his insight into the overpopulation of animals in the Far North, and more about their desexing partnership with SPCA. Good vibes incoming! 🥳 Nahla spent a whopping 556 days in the care of our Kerikeri Centre... and is now living the dream in her forever home ❤️
We first met this sweet girl back in 2022. You might remember her face, as we shared her time and time again on social media in the hopes of finding her a family. Our team didn't give up, and we were over the moon when the stars finally aligned, many months on.
Nahla's now had time to settle in with her new dad Aaron, and her new best friend and big brother Ace.
"Nahla has settled in really well, and better than expected given she was at SPCA Kerikeri for so long. I can’t believe nobody took a chance on her. She's crazy about walks, waits each night for the fire to go on, and has her big brother Ace for company.
"Patience is critical to rehoming any dog that has been a long-stay. What you get at the end is well worth the effort, and seeing her so happy and relaxed makes me just as happy."
We couldn't be more thrilled to see Nahla living the life she truly deserves. Happy ! 🙏

Hi everyone, we are in need of blankets and warm bedding for the animals if you have any to spare. With the cold and the wet we are unable to keep up with the laundry that is needed to keep the animals warm. If you can drop it into the centres that would be wonderful thanks.
We can't use pillows, electric blankets, feather duvets I'm sorry as they get ripped, then eaten by the pups.

*Whangarei centre* Introducing our darling diva, Mariah. She has the most beautiful voice and loves to chat away telling you all about her day. She is divine, she's an affectionate girl who is ever so happy when you sit down and spend some time with her so she can smooch against you and sit on your lap. Her favourite pastime in her foster home is curling up and catnapping in a warm sunny spot. Mariah is looking for her forever family, older kids would be fine so long as they are prepared to spoil her with love. She is a bit of leg winder when you are walking so she needs someone who is steady on their feet. They are used to being with other dogs, would be fine with slightly older kids (5 +) as the're still a bit bouncy and may knock babies and small toddlers over. They are just friends, not looking for a home together, all they want is a family of their own who will cherish them and take them on adventures and lovely long walks. *Whangarei centre* Meet Moochi - she is a delightful girl who is enthusiastic, smart , quick to learn and full of fun and joy. She was just a baby when she and her family were found on a beach in Northland. Her mum was not well enough to look after her so Moochi went out to a wonderful foster home where she was surrounded by love and care. She has been back at the centre for a while now while she waits to be adopted, she's a such a lovely dog, a real favourite with our team of staff and volunteers. Moochi loves to go for walks, has very good basic manners and is used to being with other dogs.
